Thank you. Which option: consular or “in the US” processing is preferred and/faster? Sister and her family are outside of the US. Understood, one can change between the two in the future but will it cause additional delay?
  2. Thanks

I agree with @appleblossom, but would add if they are in a country that is open, they can look at the diversity visa.

    Good Luck!

You file one I-130. Both the children will have aged out.

You’re looking at far longer than 14 years - if you look at the Visa Bulletin you’ll see that it’s currently at May 2007 (meaning those who applied nearly 17 years ago only now have visas available to them), but go back a couple of years and look at the bulletin from February 2022. You’ll see that it was at March 2007 for that category, so has only moved forward 2 months in 2 years. At that rate it’ll be at least 25 years before they can get a visa.

But all you can do is file and see what happens. If your sister or her husband have any other route to a visa (i.e. employment), they be wise to explore that.
  4. Thanks

It's more complex than that - child must be under 21 by the time the visa is available, but there is the CPSA which can sometimes help. But it won't in this case, as it will just take too long. So both of the children will definitely have aged out by the time a visa is available.

Just I-130. I-485 isn't relevant for your sister.

    Good luck.

yes, scan it and save it.
you can fill out the forms but, when it comes to voter's registration, it is easier to do it online. As far as the passport goes, your best bet is to fill out the form, get the pictures and go to the post office. but check out the requirements for a first time passport applicant,

Hello - hope all have had a great start of 2024. God bless all.

I have a naturalization ceremony next week. I do not know what to expect. Could one kindly share what it will be about, how long, any issues or things you did not expect?

Separately - what is the current wait time for US passport once one applies? I know during covid it was a long wait but not sure about now.

    Thank you so much!

God bless All. I have been a vawa survivor and am praying for all on this thread. With God’s help and help of this community I am sure good things are to come to you.

I am about to have a naturalization interview. If anyone had it and got GC as a vawa survivor - what documents did you bring to the interview and what questions the officer asked you?

    thank you so much

Hi All - I am based in Houston. Submitted N400 in August. Has anyone naturalized recently and knows the processing time for the Houston office and the time from N400 submittal to getting citizenship?

Dear friends - i got the green card earlier this year. Thank you all for all the support and help.

i still have my old “temporary” social security card that i got when was on work visa. SS offices are closed due to covid. Does anyone know how to update / replace it with “standard” ss card? I may be getting a new job soon and just need to ensure the ss card is standard

Thank you again. Do you know if I485 approval  notice can be a substitute for actual green card if presented to employer? I don’t see it listed under I-9 list. Needing to find a solution to continue working while waiting for the card as my current EAD expires in January.

    my timeline (atlanta)
    I-360 / I-485 filed in Nov 2018. I-360 approved in April 2020. I-485 approved in Nov 2020.

can someone help me to see guidance for rules to maintain the green card. I heard that one must be in the US at least 6 months a year. Also, in 2.5 years I can apply for citizenship. Anything else I am missing?
