I called the agent now and here what we discussed:

    - He said he confirmed he corrected the application
    - The application is for internal user only they don't send it anywhere
    - I asked for his permission to record the phone call and he said yes , and on the recoding I have him saying this is his own error , he made it and I never claimed it... he mention it almost 5 times on the phone call and it is recorded after his consent
    - When I asked about a new copy of the application he said he will finalize the paper work and send it back before closing and we will find the correct information.

at the end of the call , He said in 25 years carrier he see wrong SSNs or wrong names or answer citizenship questions wrongly , he said it happens all the time and they just fix it.

now I have an email from him saying  he fixed it after I told him you never asked this question & I have the phone call recording.

i doubt, unfortunately most mortgage agents are not careful and only focus on the digits.

Simple123 reacted to ataz in End of Journey - My Interview Experience @ Phoenix ASC
I had my naturalization interview scheduled for 8:00 AM today at Phoenix ASC. Due to Covid-19 had to take a few extra measures - 1. Wear a mask 2. Enter the building at the most 15 mins before scheduled time 3. No company 4. Answer questions related to health

Security check was quick. Had to show the notice at reception and the clerk gave me the form back with token number stapled to it.

The IO called me just after 8. The interview couldn't be smoother. It was over in less than 10 minutes (not exaggerating).

She took my green card and asked if I know what I was there for. Then she told me that this interview is voluntary and I may leave any time. She then started with the Civic questions. 6 Civic questions were done within first minute. She asked me to read and write a simple sentence on the iPad. Then she went over few family questions, I had to just answer Yes or confirm it is correct. Then she asked about questions related to previous arrests, any bad groups membership, etc. Answer was NO to all of them. Finally she asked about allegiance related questions. I mentioned to her that my wife has used a different name at least once (on our son's birth certificate) and I forgot to mention it in one of the questions but she told me not to worry about it.

She had me sign a couple of forms on iPad:
    1. With my personal information - all was Ok
    2. Acceptance to take the oath

Then she congratulated me and printed a form, told me that she can get me in for the oath ceremony at 9 AM. Escorted me to the waiting area. I texted my wife at 8:14, It's Done

Few minutes before 9, another office called about 15 names and took us to the ceremony room. They had us fill I-445. Then handed packets with passport form, SSA update form, voter registration form, etc. Completed I-445 and green cards were collected. Then an officer quickly explained the package content and answered few questions.

Another officer came in and explained the oath process and gave opportunity to ask any questions or if anyone had a change of mind. Then he asked us to rise, he said the Oath and we had to say "I do" (another Covid impact). We were called in random order to collect our naturalization certificate and if everything was ok, we were told that we are good to go! The entire oath ceremony took about 30-40 minutes.

Thank you USCIS, it was a great experience.

I did not update the timeline but I had applied N-400 under 5 year rule on Feb 26. Biometrics was done on Mar 16. Interview notice was received on 11/5 and interview/oath was done on 12/10.

Here you go, from the horse's mouth (https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-k-chapter-2):
For an alien to be inadmissible based on false claim to U.S. citizenship, an officer must find all of the following elements:
    The alien made a representation of U.S. citizenship;
    The representation was false;[1] and
The alien made the false representation for any purpose or benefit under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) or any other federal or state law
I appreciate why you're worried, but you're totally fine. Some overzealous DMV worker requested a voter registration change when I changed my address on my license and almost gave me a heart attack, so I get it.

    And from the same page:
    Step 4
Determine whether alien timely retracted the false claim to U.S. citizenship.
    Section E, Timely Retraction [8 USCIS-PM K.2(E)]

Nothing to worry about. You didn’t say you were a USC, someone assumed without checking the facts. Also, you didn’t gain anything that you would otherwise have not been entitled to. Your application for the mortgage would have the same outcome whether you are an LPR or a USC.

The question is asked to make sure you have not broken any laws and taken advantage of something to which you are not entitled. Voting, sitting on a jury, certain federal jobs are only for USCs. That’s what this question is about. Also illegal working or entering prior to your LPR status (people may have come as visitors in the past prior to immigrating and may have claimed to be a USC in order to work when they are not permitted to work).

You will be surprised how many people in this country, who have had no experience of immigration themselves, don’t know the difference between resident and citizen. I’ve heard it all in my time in this country. I’ve heard people who assume green cards are American passports for people born overseas, I’ve heard people assuming that moving here makes you a citizen immediately, when I tell people I’m not eligible to vote because I’m not a citizen (yet) they assume I’m here illegally or temporarily and many other variations. Even on the TLC show that focuses on the route that many here took to come to this country you will hear people saying “she just wants to marry you to get citizenship” as if it happens automatically. They have no clue. The mortgage agent probably didn’t even know the difference.

    Don't be!
Their application is just something internal and you didn't claim nothing. He never asked!
I don't know the company but mine for example, in their application, they ask if you are a Citizen or an Permanent resident.

Take a deep breath. You had no play in this error; it wasn't willful. You rectified the situation by advising your agent of the issue, and it's been fixed. It was a simple mistake, and fortunately that was fixed before it became a permanent record. Relax, don't freak out!

If it was fixed, then it's no longer an issue and there's no need to freak out...? And you didn't claim to be a US citizen. The agent thought you were. Big difference. Chill.

No worries. You never claimed to be. Someone assumed. Once you were aware had you not rectified it, then you would have been guilty of usurpation. As long as you fixed it and on top of that before the ball got rolling then there should be no issue and not even a need to bring it up.

Keep it simple, like your username, immigration is only worse when you start to overthink everything... Get an updated copy, let it go and enjoy your life and the house with your wife.

    Hi All ,

Do we always need the Selective Service proof Document for the interview even if I never lived or even visited the US before my 30s birthday?

    Thanks
