Does anyone here know if the DS-5535 form will

not be given anymore to visa applicants once Biden is officially in office as the president?

The form has been there since forever and it’s been used more often since Trump administration came to power back in 2016. It’s not up to any president deciding to give or not to the visa applicants. I saw some cases in Montreal, Canada going thru that black hole even when they were Canadians, so anybody can be flashed by DHS for extra security checks.

    Hey all,

So my approved petition was sent from NVC to Montreal at the end of March & arrived at Montreal in April (I have my case number).

Now I know that for the CEAC case tracker even though K1 is considered Non-immigrant you have to search through “immigrant” with your case number to see your current status.

I’m just wondering if you pay any attention to the text below your status.

Example: My case says “Ready” last updated April 30th but the text says “ready to schedule interview”.

I haven’t received anything regarding a P3 Document checklist to gather documents & book my health testing though so I’m assuming not.

Also how would one receive their P3? Do you get any notification of being sent it? Is it sent through mail or email? I just don’t want to miss anything when they finally get round to it again.

we’re in the same boat. Ready since April 30, waiting for my P3. Guess they’ll rescheduled the cancelled ones and then start on our cases so sit tight and keep us updated here

    Hi,

I wanted to start a thread for those who were waiting on their Montreal Consulate Rescheduling for those of us who had cancelled Interviews back in March and April.

I just received my email today, for my new Appointment date of October 19. Anyone else who is K1 and was also waiting for a Reschedule should report back when they get their reschedule email!

FYI My prior interview date was March 18, so I was one of the first ones to get cancelled since K1s only had interviews on Wednesdays at the time.

Congratulations, I saw one on the Facebook group that got rescheduled. Good luck!

Did not receive a date this time except from ‘they’re opening slowly’. Even during our last update, they were hoping to start in August but nothing was firm.

Now the consulate staff is awaiting orders to return to

their respective consulates- I am guessing orders from

    the consulate?

Hopefully with Canada lifting its restrictions with respect to diplomats and their families, MTL consulate is planning to staff itself appropriately as soon as possible.

It does seem the consular officers weren’t even in canada working on their respective consulates. I hope they come back in regards to Canada putting diplomats and their families in travel exemptions.

That could be true, but most K1s that were cancelled, were for late march/April. Dates for interviews weren't open past April. Not sure how it works for CR1, but it could be the same as well.

True, so even if they have to

reschedule those ones. It’ll be a

around two months until normal visas can have their appointments booked but at this point anything we hope is not going to work. 5 months in dark and not sure how long this miserable timeframe will extend.

someone here said their congressman staffer talked to Montreal and they had confirmed a possible August start date so it just seems like there's no communication between places or even employees, some of they say august and some say they don't know

I just hope it’s true. They keep extending the dates and it’s so disheartening.

Our Congressman’s staffer has been reaching out to Montreal on our behalf. He had a chat with the department of state on Friday and they also indicated that Montreal is planning to resume routine services in August.

I think they just want to ensure that they have proper safeguards and a solidified plan in place before making an official announcement.

Great news, we were just told August and no date was given on call with the operator. So August could be wheels up and I hope they provide concrete dates as soon as we move in the month of Aug!

I heard medical exams that conducted btween 1/1/2020 to 6/30/2020 will be given an extra 1 month validity. Anyone heard about?

Also, I call to MTL, they say they will not resume visa interview till August 14th.

However, Some others got the answer that they will resume visa interview after August 14th.

Some people said they’ll resume in August and some said just August so as close as we get to that date we will have more intel.

The State Department is resuming visa services on a post-by-post basis at U.S. embassies and consulates around the world. Family of U.S. citizens, students, and emergency travel appointments will resume first.

The US consulate in Montreal confirmed K1 will be resumed in August for interviews when I called IV unit.
Also, Montreal consulate immigrant unit doesn’t process student visas!

Mine said ready to schedule an interview updated on April 30th, haven’t received my P3 from the consulate with my checklist though

Same here. We’re in the same boat, I hope when they open they start sending P3 and P4’s without any delay. Keep us updated here.

How many people were told Aug 14th was a potential restart date?

I can confirm this as well. They’ll be opening interviews from that date and it’s the only tentative date from Montreal since the pandemic began!!

Us too! Our had just arrived at Montreal, got our first ready before everything shut down so this is a little bit of hope!

Ours got ready on April 30, how about you guys?

Okay, thanks for supplying all that information. they are still tight lipped. Someone else actually received an unprompted email from Montreal saying to go do their medical again, and in the wording of Montreal's email, it said that local conditions now allow.

    anyways.....

Where did you get this info. Source please?
