I'm SO excited to share that we had our interview yesterday and we have been approved!!!

We do have one thing to complete - the police record wasn't ready yesterday, so we will collect that and send it by courier today and then we should get our travel packet next week!

It was a LONG journey to get here, and the last week has been crazy since they just opened up a few available appointment dates.  We had to do the Police check, the No-impediment certificate, found out we also needed his previous marriage certificate and to do his medical appointment - all usually take 10 days to 3 weeks to accomplish and we had less than 7 days - not just business days - to accomplish it!  We have experienced a waterfall of miracles to get everything done, so the fact that we couldn't get the Police certificate the day of the interview was very minor.

Since I just arrived in Kingston on Wednesday and our interview was Thursday, I am in quarantine, but I have still been able to run around on our errands and accompany him to his appointments - I just stayed in the car to remain in compliance with the quarantine rules.  I was assured that was fine by the nurse at the Kingston airport who checked me in.  Once we send the Police record off we will head home to Anchovy for the remainder of my quarantine and wait for the packet to arrive.

The BEST part of this process?  As he was leaving the Embassy, his interviewer asked him to sanitize his hands so she could shake his hand and told him "Congratulations and enjoy America!!"

Still waiting. We’re among the ones whose interviews were canceled. Was hoping to hear some news this week since they said they’ll start to schedule this month.

Just got an email from Seoul Embassy that they received our petition etc.  and said to go schedule an appointment.  We looked and now we have an interview scheduled for Nov 23!!  Now we have to book flights back to Korea and quarantine for 2 weeks, but we are excited!  Hope this means more of us will start getting interviews as well!

Case updated this morning – hasn't been updated since March 12, 2020.

Montréal has been rescheduling all the cancelled K1 visas also.

Hoping for good news in the near future!

I was able to book an interview for next week!!  YAY!!!

We have much to accomplish by then, but we are ready!!  It's going to be a whirlwind getting there - a 20 hour flight with 3 stops...ugh!  But I'm able to get there in time to join him for our interview!

Now to get the right Covid test - in time for the travel to be approved...  Jamaica requires the PCR test and it's not easily available here in Portland.
Does anyone else have to deal with testing and quarantining upon arrival?

My case updated also.  Let's means we will interview soon!  Ours has been sitting there since March as well and we never had an interview scheduled.

Thanks for sharing ! Didn’t think they were issuing visit (B1/B2) visas yet. One would think fam visas would take precedence.. But all in all, hoping for some positive news in October in regards to K1s and everybody else waiting..

Ugh....  So I've booked the "available date" - you'd think I'd be happier??

The first available date was November 9, 2021???
This is insane.  I have spent all weekend checking, rechecking, at least 10+ times a day and always get the same message "There are no available appointments at the selected location. Please try again later."

You would think a week past the date they said they were ready to schedule K1s they would have more than ONE appointment more than a year out??
Has anyone else been able to schedule a Jamaican K1 interview since the weekend??

My fiancé and I got lucky last week and was able to book 1 of the very few open available dates for k1 visa interviews in Jamaica. We emailed the embassy to make sure it was real and they said they opened a few dates and to book one expeditiously and so we did! September 28,2020.
visa status on temporary refusal as they are awaiting 1 missing document from us!
So don’t give up guys, your time is coming too ❤️

August visa statistics are out. At least there was progress. Hoping September there are more family based visas processed. Only 1 K-1 visa processed and a few CR1/IR1s.

The tl;dr is this suit challenges a) the lack of K-1 visa issuance and b) the 14 day ban for K-1 holders from "banned" countries.

The full press release is at https://www.dropbox.com/s/coja278monm8ofe/K-1 Lawsuit Press Release.pdf?dl=0 with a few more details. I don't have a copy of the suit at this time.

They updated the AIS webpage for Kenya yesterday. Reading in between the lines, one might hope the focus is soon shifting to K visas. They mentioned DV and K's specifically. The last update before this one was July 20th ly in this update

As a USC you can return here at any time, unhindered. Sure that means you will be separated but that’s of no priority concern for the US government.

As an aside, for anyone reading this and still unsure of which path to follow, it’s usually better if you are already in the same country to marry first and file for a CR-1 spouse visa. These are “mission critical” in the eyes of the DOS so they were given priority when embassies reopened. As well as the usual benefits of the CR-1 (resident status immediately upon arrival, no AOS Circus to go through, work authorization immediately...).

On thing I just noticed is that the rep who gave the extra detail did so anonymously whereas the rep who answered your email identified as consular services rep 2. I have gotten a response from that same rep too. Same response basically. 😂 Just a quick observation.

My fiance shared this update with me from a Facebook immigration group she is in. It was shared by someone else, reportedly from a Sept 10 email from the embassy in Nairobi.  Perhaps we are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. Cautiously optimistic.
