@JFH said " I’ll wager that when embassies open up that spouses will be prioritized over fiancés in terms of K-1 and CR-1 appointments and issuance." I agree whole heartily!

What does that mean for k1's who are in the USA, with their AOS filed?

    Slower or longer waiting times?

    Jan 2020- visa granted

Feb 2020 - married and AOS sent off

March 2020- biometrics letter sent but then cancelled due to covid

June 2020- still waiting on biometrics, EAD, AP

Make sure to read the instructions too. I-944 had been added to on or after Feb24 submissions. Not 100% sure if u have to do both i864 and i944 or whatever applies to u, just one of them.

Thanks, I've decided to do AOS stuff today and get it out by friday so I file before feb 24.... AHH stressful but worth it!

No, it meant that the date i sent it via ups is before feb 24, which was feb 17, written in the receipt. Signed dates were between feb 11 to 15. 😉

Gotcha! Congrats on getting it in :)

I am printing off the new forms now, guess ill just have to be part of the after feb 24 gang.

Were u able to get ur DL with just the I797 and without the SSN?

The new form is now available but the filename has "preview" in it. Difference is u need to submit i-944 too. To prove that you wont be a public charge for the next 12 months. Not sure what proof they need since i haven't checked it out yet. I just made sure that my app was postmarked before the 24th.

For my SSN, i called the SSA hotline but they said that they won't have any visibility of my application just yet and wait for the office to contact me via mail. Ill call the office tomorrow just to make sure.

Amazing thanks for your help. What do you mean you made sure that your app was postmarked before the 24th?? Is that your signed dates you mean in the app?

Not really sure what it was for to be honest and I didn't ask haha. I assumed maybe for the i-94 or just a toll fee since I did a land crossing.

I had a bit of an issue getting my SSN, but I have it now! Yes, that's normal. On the card it'll say that you are only authorize to work with DHS approval - so that is where the verification by DHS comes in, I believe.

I'm compiling my AOS now too and it is kinda stressing me out. I am confused by the website (https://www.uscis.gov/i-485) and how it says:

    • We will accept the 07/15/19 and 12/23/17 edition of this form if it is postmarked before Feb. 24, 2020
    • We will not accept the 07/15/19 and 12/23/17 edition if it is postmarked on or after Feb. 24, 2020, except those submitted by aliens/petitions with a physical address in Illinois
    • On or after Feb. 24, 2020, we will accept only the 10/15/19 edition of the Form I-485, except those submitted by petitioners/aliens with a physical address in Illinois

I do not plan on submitting mine before Feb 24th, so I guess I have to wait for the new version (which isn't out yet)?

I'm confused too, i'm compiling my AOS and i guess I have to wait to file the new form of i-485. Do we know when it will be out ?

The printed I94 is only for the border crossing and not thru airports? Forgot to ask for my I-94 so I just printed it off from the website.

Trying to submit our AOS today before the Feb24 new rule implementation.

Goodluck for our next steps. Lol

Awesome! whats the new rule being implemented feb 24??

Any experiences details of ‘Port of Entry’?

I went through YUL (Montreal Airport) on Saturday and it was a piece of cake. The airport was quiet and it took about all of 7 minutes at the counter for him to open my package and verify everything. I was even going through with my dog and they didn't ask any questions or any of this documentation.

The border agent didn't have many words or crack a smile but its not often they do.

    Good luck!

How long were you in Administrative processing immigrant visa? Or were you approved right away at interview?

Yes I was approved on the spot Jan 22 and I was done immigrant AP yesterday. Today I went into non- immigrant application received and now administrative processing.

Hoping that means I just have Issuing left on monday or tuesday.

  9. Hey guys! just some words of encouragement...

I had my visa interview this morning and i was approved.

I was definitely way more anxious/stressed than I needed to be. Just be over prepared making sure you have all the requested documents. Everyone was nice, some more talkative than others... The actual interview portion is a very informal conversation.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Hey! i ended up changing my appointment to Feb5 now. I made a mistake on my DS 160 and decided it was best to change it before the interview instead of suffer the consequences after.... I won't lie, I am getting nervous for the interview even though I know every says its a breeze its more for the unknown AP afterwards. Any news on your end?

@NGill I just swooped up a cancelation, new interview date jan 22. Any words of advice?

Best to approach the CO at your interview and explain the problem. This could set you back but I am just shooting from the hip as I have not heard any other cases like this. On a process as important as this I would have thought you would have come forward much sooner in the process where it could have been handled accordingly. I'm sure USCIS caught it from your BC, but I am wondering why you didn't get a RFE to correct your 129f. Oh well. Good luck.

Better yet, I would not say anything and let sleeping dogs lie. If the CO ask then explain it to them if they don't ask don't bring it up. I have seen other cases where I gave this advise and they past their interview and never was asked for their information. I would recommend you do the same.

Ok - thank you! I will let you know how it plays out. I guess no other similar cases could be a good thing?

  13. @greenbaum

Once again thank you so much for your help and support during this process.

I just realized my birth certificate has 2 middle names I do not use of any government Id's,  I have never used them since given at birth nor did I include them in any paperwork I filed for the K1.

I am wondering what is my best course of action now?

Interview is Jan 30th and DS160 is already filled.

  14. Hey guys! I have my interview next week and not going to lie im pretty nervous.

I submitted by DS-160 in October and everything was accurate.

I decided last minute to go to the US for American Thanksgiving, does this mean I need to do another DS-160 to add those travel dates in?

If so on the AIS website it seems if I want to amend my DS160 number i need to cancel the appointment and create a new one with that DS 160 new number.

    Any help is appreciated!

The statement that I gave you comes from the official P3 letter produced by the embassy so that you will have ALL your documents prepared ahead of time and allowing you to have a smooth interview. If you are missing any documents then you will receive a 221(g) letter outlining just what the adjudicator needs to complete your visa. Without that information you are STUCK in mud. Until you submit the requested paperwork you will be delayed. Don't forget once they receive it there will be a delay of another 2 to ? weeks.

I tell people this all the time "He who has the gold makes the rules" and you don't have the gold. It's best to conform to what is required. If you stayed more then 6 months then you need a PC if you did not stay then you do not need one.

Thank you so much for your help it's really appreciated! I totally agree better to defer the appointment a week now then end up with a 221g and waiting ???.

I wrote out all my travels and i do cut it close to 6 months one year, but I travelled to other countries during those 6 months which I assume I can deduce?

Definitely going to hope the police check comes in and perhaps choose to defer the interview a week to air on the safer side of things, no point arguing over a day or two.
