i’ve read in another thread that the consulates are waiting for the entire country to be in a phase 3 of reopening or something equivalent since they get people from all over canada. Perhaps this is why they’re still closed?
I think you're right about that, it would make a lot of sense! I know my province is in phase 3 but I believe there are parts of Ontario and possibly Quebec that are in phase 2.

Just reviving this from the dead for us MARCHers. Looking for opinions here, what is everyone’s opinions on when you will be with your fiancé in the USA? 2020,2021, beyond?
Again just looking for opinions well aware everything is closed...
Considering that the montreal consulate announced yesterday its still an undetermined time and they're unable to open, it's probably going to be a while yet for me. I'd love for it to be 2020 but I feel like 2021 is probably more likely at this point. It's going to depend heavily on when the consulates/embassies open in each country and how they're going to handle the backlog of cases. At least us Canadians can still fly into the USA, I'm thinking about that for September but I'm also keeping a close eye on case numbers because I don't really feel comfortable going through airports and risking infecting myself or my fiance who's immunocompromised.

The only thing holding me back from moving to live with her is that I would have to leave my job which would ruin my ability to provide the affidavit of support. But it's at the point where I'm thinking about just giving up on the visa altogether. It's not worth it to me to spend an extra year or more apart from my love.
I get it, and I'm sorry you guys are having a rough time. It's hard feeling so far away and so helpless. I don't know your guys' situation is, but I've found some ways to keep in close contact with my fiance and maybe it will help. We do things like webcam dates, watching movies together over discord, video games (we play StarCraft, Phantasy Star Online, Animal Crossing), and every night we call each other over whatsapp so we can feel like we're sleeping next to each other. When he was sick (not covid) I ordered groceries from his local store that were all of his comfort foods, just little things like that to help close that distance even a little bit really helps sometimes.

There's so much uncertainty and I think its alright to feel anxious, upset, mourn the things that you were planning as part of this process. Nothing is guaranteed as far as immigration goes but we're all human and can't help but hope and dream. It's sad when things happen out of your control that impact those plans and dreams you made. My plan was to get down there in late summer/early fall, get married and go to an afternoon MLB game to celebrate! Baseball may not even start at this point, so plans have to change there lol!
Anyways, chin up guys.. we will get through this and be stronger for it in the end! I'm super glad for the support in this community, you guys are great and I appreciate you.

Anyone have any updates on their case?
Nothing No word on the MTL embassy or anything. Would be nice to hear they're at least thinking of starting processing again at some point.

Are they still doing interviews??
I don't think so! I thought I saw somewhere that they were cancelled for the time being.

Got my approval today! So happy, I figured I'd come here so I could tell someone.. my fiance seems to have mysteriously disappeared this afternoon. Congrats everyone else who's got theirs, and I'll keep my fingers cross for everyone that's still waiting!

My friends AND family ask about my application status every 2-3 days and it's making it really difficult to forget about it and wait patiently. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Constantly! "Any news?" "How long til you move?" etc etc. Seems like I get asked that by someone different every day. On top of that, my boss (who knows I'm engaged but I haven't told the details to) keeps asking if we've set a date yet. All I can muster is a vague "Summer-ish?"

That's awesome, congrats on getting started! Same exact dates for me but no text yet. Hopefully any day now so I can start waiting again!
I'm waiting for my number so I can mail in some additional information that needs to be added, so I hope it's soon.
I'm sure it will happen soon then if its the same dates, good luck and congrats to you too!

Take a short breather wait on the hard copy. Not much really to do until NOA2.
Haha easier said than done! I've been rushin around since the end of August trying to assemble everything and now I'm just supposed to wait. Oh boy 🤪

Hi all!
My fiance sent our I-129F to Lewisville on Nov 15th, it was received on Nov 18th and he said he's received our text this afternoon with receipt number starting with WAC. Very excited!
Any tips on stuff we should be doing to get ahead on the next steps right now or do we just sit and wait patiently?
