NOA2 approval on March 20, but haven’t received any case number or anything from NVC. Becoming concerned.  Filled out the inquiry form online and got back this response (but no case number), which sounds like it is just a canned answer:

    Dear Sir/Madam:

You will be notified once this case is forwarded to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General.

    Department of State CA/VO/DO/NVC

Any thoughts on whether this is unusual?

interesting, we've got the same date of NOA2 I just called at 11pm to get my case number, one ring and they picked up. I got my case number and checked, "at NVC". i've yet to receive any email or postal mail. I checked the pdf and used the julian date to figure out my case number was created on 04-03...almost a month ago and haven recieved email or anything...strange...but give them a call and get your case #

Hey guys! I'm a silent member of this forum for like a year, reading everyone's articles and stories helps us a lot, thanks! Now I've been in Miami for 4 months, being with my beloved husband is the best thing ever happened to me. Truly appreciate every day here! As most of K visa holders, I'm bored with the waiting lol. But we gotta deal with it, the price we have to pay for our love! Here i wanna share with you guys my ways to kill time, hope they can save you out of boredom.

1、Register a gym. This is something that we can all afford and it's amazing! I became a member of LA Fitness the second month I arrived and couldn't stop since then. They got nearly 6-8 group fitness everyday from 8am-9pm, I basically spent 2 hours there 4 days every week. It helps me socialize a lot! I love Zumba and yoga, especially yoga class, it really calms me down during the hard waiting.

2、Doing embroidery. I love traditional Chinese embroidery, which is fun and a real "waste of time", i can basically sit for 8 hours just for finishing a leaf. I saw some simpler set in Walmart and Target, if you like handcraft, you have to try it. Here are my work lol. Spent roughly 2 months for each, working on another one now, hope i could finish it before my interview.

3、Volunteer in animal shelter. It's super easy to apply, all you need to do is go to their website, fill in a form and wait. Then they will arrange you for an orientation, after a background check, and you are gonna work really quick.I mainly walk dogs and pat cats. But I don't really feel myself really achieved something in volunteering, especially after I read online that this shelter will kill most of the animals everyday cause they can't take after that a lot amount. So I feel it's a waste of time, like I just meet a puppy today bath him walk him play with him, and second day, he's gone. That fact just made me sad. And plus, there is no guarantee that you won't get hurt. I was shocked the first time I got scratched by a dog, the working people there just told me to clean the wound with water. So guys, if you love animal, and want to devote your time in those charity organization, be very careful and think twice.

4、Watch The Office. My husband recommended me this amazing show and I totally loved it! I spent 3 months to finish 9 seasons and now I'm rewatching it again. This show is not only funny but also really helpful for people like me, whose first language is not English (I'm from China), when i first came here, I could hardly understand people's oral english here. It was super discouraging. I was scared that i couldn't fit in and even suffered a little depression. After the 9 seasons, I feel so much better now, I got a notebook to write down all the expressions now. That just gave me a sense of fulfillment. And it's fun. BTW, any new recommendations?

5、Go to library events. This is something that just not my thing, to be honest. I went to an ESOL class and a knitting class, which are toooo easy and extremely boring. I wanted to make some friends there, but it turns out that you can never make true friends if you are at the wrong place. I didn't go to every library event, so if you are interested, go to the local public library system, it's a nice thing to do to get around with people anyway, and it's FREE!

That's pretty much everything, my husband will take me out for dinner, movies or games(let's go Heat!) too. Feel appreciated that he's so thoughtful and sweet. However, I sometimes still feel upset that I'm in a totally different country, what the future gonna have in store for me? I read some of people's stories that they are depressed, you guys don't know how jealous of me seeing you are from Britain , Australia... you guys at least have no problems communicating. Sometime i got frustrated that people can't understand me. I remember one time a waiter stopped talking to me cause I didn't know the name of certain food(I mean dude I never saw this food before in my life!!) But I keep cheering myself up, trying hard to improve myself. So guys, for those of you who feel lonely, isolated, anxious, I just wanna say, you are not alone! Get up and do something, get involved in this country, you will find your place! Feel free to share your life with me! I got tons of time to make new friends here!

    No 4. Yes!👍👍👍👍

I can get you added if you want, but can you read and write Chinese? There's no English in the group, everyone uses Chinese, it's mostly the Chinese Fiance's, not the Americans.

Yeah and i'd actually like it more or less for my fiance as well  and i lived in China for 5 years so wechat is life for me 🤣 ill send you a message

Update to this, with all the cluster going on now in East Asia and Europe no way connecting or near those areas. In order to leave before my fiancee's K-1 expires on June 1st. The plan still set for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia route with 30day visa and 14plus days there and then to Doha, Qatar or Dubai and land on the Eastern cities like Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport or Washington D.C Dulles Airport.

Back to the update I tried to investigate on weChat group saying some people got in, well I can't confirm if it's true, I called many US gov't authorities and said K-1 visa holders with Chinese passport cannot enter US if they just came from Mainland China.

sorry i asked you before reading this! 🤣

So, the official reply I got from U.S. CBP is that K-1 will not be allowed in. However, I am in a WeChat group with about 200 Chinese K-1 cases, and many are reporting that they were allowed in.

Personally, we have decided to not take the risk, and are flying to Malaysia for 2 weeks, then we will fly back to America. The hardest part right now is finding a country that will even let my Fiance transit through on our way home. Pretty much all flights from Asia to America currently transfer through Taiwan (Chinese citizens are currently banned completely), South Korea (also completely banned), or Japan (banned if you are from certain provinces, and the list is growing).

Afraid that after our two weeks in Malaysia we won't even be able to find a flight to America that she can take.

any chance i could get added to that Wechat group? 😅

You are not alone, my fiancée with her k-1 visa issued in December 2019, was ready for March 2nd to come to Los Angeles, CA. Unfortunately her flight was cancelled last week for Air China. Originally my fiancée works in Futian-Shenzhen, China. She is still stuck in her hometown in the countryside in Hunan Province while visiting her family before the crazy national lockdown took place.

I am in the United States as trying to figure out what's best to do for her but now it's just to wait to see what will our US Gov't will do. As I've been reading the new proclamation over and over, it seems there is no way yet for any Chinese citizens or any foreigners who visited China for the last 14days to come to the US since February 2nd that was announced. I am on standby to book any flights for her to come America from Guangzhou or Shenzhen directly to USA.

I am interested in your stance as well because we are kinda on the same boat, but for me already in United States.
I am investigating this what you said for K-1 visa holders from China being let through at US Port of entry, but I don't have an answer yet.

My fiance is also in Shenzhen ( Longhua) quick question how long is the visa good for?

My Fiance's interview should be sometime in May but we are wondering how long after getting approved will she have to travel to US...i'm sure this was answered elsewhere :bonk:

Sent in my package on Nov 11th to USCIS Dallas, TX.
USCIS received my package on Nov 14th.
Got a text message saying your case was received on Nov20th.

    Question:
How long does it take after NOA2?

Looks like we were received on the same day! Honestly it's a bit relieving to see I'm not the only one in the group with a chinese fiance!🤣 Hope we're able to help eachother  and others with any country specific issues!

  10. I just send mine also for my Chinese fiance 2 weeks ago and recieved my NOA1 a few days ago, write the English translation of the address (I needed to use the additional space) then there is another space for the chinese, we live together in China at the moment, so she was able to fill that out herself. best of luck to you!

I don’t know how has it been since we got our K1 visa approved. My Husband and I were in the same situation back in 2014. We have a teaching business in Vietnam also. My husband  obviously did not have any working visa, it all was tourist visa.

You can still file tax with the US. I believe if you make under $80k you don’t have to pay tax. That was what we did. We also did not have any join sponsor. We still got the visa. Based on my experience, they care more about whether or not your relationship is real and will you become a social burden coming to the US.

We also had some saving in the bank at that time.

Your fiancé has been to the US many times so that’s a plus. I think you should be fine.

Still, my experience was in 5 years ago and it was in Vietnam.

    Best of luck!

Quick Question, because your husband was working on a tourist visa, do you remember if he/you listed the teaching business on the forms as previous employment? Because I've been doing it for 5 years so i wouldn't have any work history if i don't add it, and think that might raise questions...

Thanks for your reply! Yeah we shouldn't have any problem proving our relationship is genuine, just worried now they are more focused on the tax part, but from what i've read i should be alright, and we have a joint sponsor. OK, time to get some docs ready! thanks for your help!

  13. Hello all,

I'll try to keep this short but apologies ahead of time.

I've been staying in and out of China since Nov. 2014. My fiance is Chinese from Jiangxi but we are both currently in Shenzhen, Guangdong, nearby Guangzhou. I came here in 2014 to visit my brother and his wife and was told about how simple it was to get a teaching job. I wasn't planning to stay long term however Long story short i got a job here in SZ where I met my now fiance.

Hooray so now comes the problem and I'm looking to be open and honest with hope of someone who has maybe had a similar situation, or could provide me with some helpful tips.

When i began working at the school, it was all "under the table" as i had only a tourist visa here. After 3 years working at the school , my fiance and i decided to start private teaching on our own which we have been doing for about 2 years.

So my fiance and i have lived together here for the past 3 years, she has been to America 4 times on a B-2 visa, i have met her family a number of times, but we are ready to start our own family and move to the states.

The first few years i thought it was great to be here, earn and save some extra money however now, i fear this will cause some complications in our visa journey.

I am still with her here in China and because of my visa i have not "worked" or  paid taxes in the past 5 years i have been here, nor have a job history i can show for my I-129f as well as for the future affidavit of support. MY address is still registered in the US because i have only a tourist visa for China.

My plan is to send docs later this month with help from family in America. If all goes well, i am planning to move back to America a month or two prior to her interview ..... when she first arrives we will live with my parents for a few months before buying our own home.

From what i understand i can use my parents for the affidavit of support but my big worry is my work history as well as tax history because i have been ou of the country.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
