I'm unsure as well, but at this point I am taking any news I can take. Honestly just the fact that they mentioned the K1 visa by its name at all makes me happy. I guess I'd rather have vague news about this specific visa than no news at all or vague news about ~maybe~ my visa like we had before.

Right!! I feel the same. I've been stuck in this super negative thinking loop but I have to keep reminding myself that it's all worth it and that I have to start seeing at least a tiny bit of good in anything. I'm taking these news as "good... but could be better" if that makes sense, haahaha

This is from the Montreal Consulate Twitter. They said before they weren't being processed but now they are. So I believe for those consulates that are open this is good news.

All the embassies have gradually been posting about K1s at different times over the past couple weeks. I think they’re just fed up of people asking and don’t take it as good news. Maybe I’m just being pessimistic cause we’re almost getting used to not receiving any good news.

The DOS just posted this on their site:  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/important-notice-for-k-visa-applicants-affected-by-covid-19.html
Is this... good news? or is this the same thing we've been hearing for the past 6 months but just about K1 visas?

I'm a little glad to have some news very specifically calling out K1 visas but I can't tell if it's good news or just the same as always. Any thoughts?

It does feel like we're in for a long wait, but there are some signs that we at least haven't been forgotten. The federal government has started a "phased transition to normal" which is a good first step, embassies are working on plans for how they will operate when they can reopen, and some embassies have even rescheduled for July/August (we'll see if those happen or not).

I know how easy it is to feel hopeless, it happens to me a few times a week (or day if I'm being realistic). But it's important to remember that this will not be forever and at least we are at the final stage. 8-12 months is about the same as the I130 wait and we did that just fine 😛 And hey, a lot of people will be getting 10 year green cards out of this, so ROC should at least be quicker when the time comes!

Hi all! Just thought I'd give some people the same peace that I was given by some other people on this thread. Some background info: I had a B2 visa(been active for 20+ years ish) and an F1 visa(expired some years ago) way before we got engaged and started the K1 process. I assume all of this had something to do with my easy experiences at Customs because if I really wanted to do something bad I would've done it years ago. I've also visited 3 times since we became long distance for less than 3 weeks each and with more than 3 months in between so that might've also been a factor in our favor. However, I do come from a high fraud country and this could always set off alarms. This is how all 3 of my visits have gone:

    CBP Officer: Reason for visit?
    Me: Vacation/Leisure
    CBP Officer: How long?
    Me: 3 weeks.
CBP Officer: Have you graduated yet?
    Me: Yes.
CBP Officer: What do you do in the DR?
    Me: I'm a graphic designer.
CBP Officer: *Takes my fingerprints, takes my pic, hands me back my passport* Have a good trip
Me: Thanks, have a good day.

I always bring extra paperwork just in case but it always ends up not being used and my anxiety always seems to be for nothing... Always get approved for 6 months. Good luck guys, be smart.
