I have sent AOS package for wife on 04/21/2020. It was received on 04/22/2020 shown by FedEx courier signature. I did not used the form for text notifications which i regret now. The payment has not been withdrawn from the bank and no receipt number has been received. Is it normal  for USCIS that much time not to withdrawn money for more than 2 weeks or can i expect a rejection of the packet? I think it is taking too much time. Please advise.

You can expect to wait up to 30 days to have payment withdrawn. I believe after you have been waiting greater than 30 days you can call USCIS to enquire about the status of your case.

I sent my packet (I-130, I-131, I-485, I-765, I-944) on the 30th April. Received Chicago Lockbox 2nd May, payment taken 4th May, NOA issued 5th May, received paper copies 11th May. I am a previous Greencard holder which I surrendered several years ago. That won't be a help or hinderance but it will be interesting to see if they use my previously supplied biometrics.

    Congrats :)

Quick question guys. I don't remember if I answered "yes" to the question on the I-765 form that asks if we want the SSA to issue a social security card. Is it possible to inquire that information to USCIS by phone? Unfortunately, I don't have access to my entire application at the moment and I don't know if the SSA will automatically issue me with a card soon.

I do not have an answer for you, but I am also wondering how long it takes for SSA to issue SSN if it was requested through I765.

    Yes

The job offer supports the expedite reason

K1 will get their SSN on entry.

I entered on my K1 VISA on March 18th and could not get SSN as the social security offices are all closed due to COVID. I was able to request a SSN as part of my I765 application.

What I was wondering is if I request for I765 to be expedited would that also expedite the request for a SSN?

    I got my letter today.

I need to submit the most recent years tax documents which I assume is 2019s because we submitted 2018s.

I also need to get a co-sponser which I was expecting might have been the case as my husbands only been earning over the requirement since August last year!

Thanks for sharing your experience. They are issuing RFE's quite promptly it seems.

How did they accept that form when they rejected mine because I used that form? They are accepting it sometimes?

Yes that's right. Some people are getting accepted with the 2021 form and some rejected.

Our status changed. They sent a Request for Initial Evidence yesterday. Kind of worried right now. 😬 I'll keep you all up to date when the letter arrives.

How do you check your status?

I hope it's nothing difficult to get that they need from you!

Am I also supposed to receive text messages for forms I-864 and I-944?

    Congrats!!

No- you are not supposed to receive text messages for I864 and I944. You're all good! :)

Just as you put the assets of yourself and your spouse(who is your petitioner) so you will also put your liabilities and that of your spouse(your petitioner). I believe at the end of the day they will subtract the liabilities from the assets to see the net worth. If the liabilities is just for the applicant, is the assets just for applicant too? Are you adjusting from K1 marriage or are you adjusting on your own?

If you going through the public charge form you will understand that it’s kind of designed for those who have been living and working here in United States. Someone on K1 just got here, do you have a credit score? No, because you don’t have a job. Even if your spouse puts you as authorized user on his or her credit card, it’s going to take you a while to build that. So you see people printing from credit score website that they don’t have one & writing a letter they just got here and to me they’re right.

All I’m saying is every case is different and since the public charge rule is new, we do not know the true picture of what’s really expected of us. You may have a student loan from Australia and someone else doesn’t have. Why are they asking for 250% poverty guideline of your petitioner if their liabilities won’t matter? Why are they asking for the petitioner’s credit score if their liabilities won’t matter? Why are they asking if a petitioner is on public charge benefit & not just you? Because a petitioner’s actions will rub off on the applicant since they got you here.

So then is it okay to put assets of you and your petitioner but when it gets to liabilities you say nothing about theirs?

    To my understanding No.

    I am adjusting from K1.

You are not required to submit credit score/report of the petitioner. Only applicant.

If a petitioner has debts/liabilities prior to their marriage, their spouse does not inheret their debt. Only debts they accumulate together after marriage is shared. The Form I944 is designed to determine whether the applicant as an individual is at risk of becoming a public charge. They are not interested in the skills/education/credit score/debt of the applicants spouse, because that is not a direct reflection of them as an individual.

The question regarding debts/liabilities clearly asks for applicant only.

The first step in completing and filing a sufficient I944 is to read the questions carefully followed by the instructions that accompany the form.

If you choose to interpret the question in your own way, that's your choice to do so. I'm just saying to be careful to share incorrect information. By telling people that they have to share the debts and liabilities of their USC spouse on their I944 you are creating unnecessary work for them.

Given that this is a new form, there are multiple ways a question can be interpreted but to disregard what a question and it's instructions are specifically asking for is not a good idea.

Hello guys, my AOS package was received at USICS office on 13 April. Haven't heard any notification, text, email etc. I just checked the expiry date on my i485 and it's 10/21/2021.

Many of us with the same expiry date have been accepted. You still have time. If you haven't heard anything after 30 days from filing, give USCIS a call to check the status of your application.

    Good luck!

Your answer will depend on what you feel as household. If your husband or wife is written as a household member and any of you filed tax, then both of you will put details in debts and liabilities if any. Just as you put in assets section. Since you came on K1 you won't have liabilities yet but your spouse can have credit card or personal loan liability or car loan.

Hi, I'm sorry but this advice is not corect. The debts and liabilities section only applies to the applicant. The question does NOT ask for the household's debt.

It DOES ask for the household's assets though.

And yes, an applicant can have debt. For example I listed my student loan from Australia.

I'm not trying to come across rude, I just needed to correct this so that others don't get the wrong advice.

Thank you for bringing the 2020 expiration date on the I-485 to light. We completed the 2021 version, so we are about to fill out 2020 now (ugh, just when we thought we were finished).

All of these possible discrepancies are nerve-wracking. I'm looking over our application again to make sure that we put "N/A" on questions that didn't apply to us instead of leaving things blank. How did you guys handle questions like the online account number and social security number:727519930_ScreenShot2020-04-30at12_20_54AM.png.3b9f86e4de37e0e89212abb33a11ce74.png

My husband doesn't have a social security number yet because he arrived right when the offices closed due to COVID-19. We left questions with boxes formatted like the ones above blank, but now I'm wondering if we should fill them in with "N O N E" OR "N A."

I wrote "NONE". I would advise to write that. :)

    Hello everyone!

Looks like we are right on the cusp of being April filers. After weeks of tackling the dreaded I-944, we FINALLY managed to get everything together and will be able to mail our applications (I-485, I-765, I-131) tomorrow morning.

We are leaning towards mailing it via USPS. If we end up using Priority Mail Express, we should still send it to the PO Box address and not the 131 South Dearborn address, right?

    Thank you for your help!

Yes, if you file through USPS send to the PO Box address.

This happened to someone in the March filers for AOS and I'm pretty sure she submitted her application before the 2021 version was released.

It's so frustrating when people are getting rejected for this reason when the 2020 and 2021 version seem identical and have the same edition number.

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. I hope other April filers get a nicer USCIS officer assessing their cases. 😓

oh wow. The i 130 was good? I guess it depends on the officer that looks at the cases. who knows
