  1. For our case, I had earned less than the financial requirements in 2016 and 2017, due to extenuating circumstances, and earned above the financial requirements for 2018.  I was asked for pay stubs, a letter of employment stating how much i made/ how many hours I worked/ and how long I have worked there for, and I was asked for my w2s.  We did not require a joint sponsor.  I think it is really dependent on a few factors, but it wouldn't hurt to have a sponsor lined up and have the paperwork filled out just in case, so there isn't time lost if one is required.   Good Luck!

  2. We just had our interview in April, the questions were pretty straight forward: How did we meet and How did we communicate in the beginning of our relationship due to the language barrier.  The interview was short and they asked for no evidence of our relationship.

As long as you answer the questions honestly and if the relationship is real you should be fine.

  3. Hi!

We are in the process of bringing a dog back that we adopted in the Dominican Republic when my husband had his interview in May.  In our case: the dog has to be UTD on all shots required (dogs coming from DR have to have rabies shot and they have to be free from screw worm, I did not see Panama on the list of high risk rabies countries or for the countries with a high risk of screw worm,  but it may be required by the state you are taking the dog to) and they need to appear healthy.  We also have to have a valid certificate of health that is dated within 30 days of our dog arriving to the U.S.

Again, you must make sure you check your state guidelines to see if they require anything above what the federal guidelines are.

Side note: If the dog has never had a rabies shot and you do end up getting it, just know that the dog has to wait 28 days to travel.  Also, I am not sure how old the dog is but puppies can't have a rabies shot before 4 months of age.

    I hope this helps!

  4. I am pretty sure the NVC still makes the appointment whether it is k1 or IR-1/CR-1.

Fiance Visa: After you have completed the steps on the Immigrant Visa Process on usvisas.state.gov, including paying the necessary fees and submitting the required immigrant visa application form (DS-260), Affidavit of Support, and supporting documents to the National Visa Center (NVC), they will review your file for completeness. Once your case becomes qualified for an interview, NVC will work with us to schedule an interview appointment for you.

You can learn more about the interview process on usvisas.state.gov.

Sorry if I misunderstood the question, was not trying to be confusing, just trying to be helpful.

  5. Unfortunately that is a risk any couple make when they get married, and now there is not a whole lot you can do.  If you are saying though that he was married before you (hence the wedding ring you found?) that would make your marriage null and void, and that would be something you could report but you would need to have proof of said marriage.  I understand your heartbreak but the best thing for you to do at this point would be to move on so that you can be happy again.  I wish you the best in finding someone who will love you the way that you deserve.  Good luck with everything.

  6. From my own personal experience I would say in my opinion you have enough evidence to file.  My husband and I did not have a joint bank account either and we were fine.  We passed in our marriage certificate, we had family members write certified statements for us, we had tons of photos(which they never asked to view),  and that was about it.  During our interview we weren’t asked too many questions and unfortunately our case did go to AP due to a computer issue on their part but we were told our case was fine and my husband was asked to submit his passport so we are assuming we will eventually be approved.  When we had our interview we had been married for almost 6 years.  I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck!

  7. Hi!

On April 16th my husband and I had our interview in the DR.  There was a problem in their computers regarding our case that they had to fix, we were given back my husbands passport and a white 221g, which stated that nothing was required of us besides his passport back when the time came and they asked for it.  The IO said our case looked fine but it was something on their end that needed to be done and that we should hear from them in 2 weeks.  Our case went from AP->Ready->AP and then we were contacted via email on May 3rd to deposit his passport.  We deposited the passport on Tuesday May 7th due to me not seeing the email, as it went to my work email.  The passport was confirmed as being there as of yesterday May 9th.  I checked our status today just to check, I didn't expect anything to happen with our case and I was right, it was still in AP with an updated date as of today and still listed as an Immigrant Visa Application.

My question is this:  Could they ask for anything else from us, or when they asked us to deposit his passport can we assume everything has been taken care of, and that the visa will ultimately be issued?   We notified the IO at the time of our minor sons pending surgery on June 7th so we are worried especially reading everyone's experiences with AP.

Thank you for your time and responses!

  8. My husband's passport was just recently requested after an issue that needed to be cleared up in the Embassy at the Dominican Republic after our interview.  We were told when we dropped the passport off that even though the website says 2-3 business days, to plan on it taking up to 10 business days.  I am not sure if that is for everywhere right now but just a heads up.  Good Luck and I hope you receive good news soon!

  9. We submitted one to NVC and then also had one done days before our interview, they asked for and took the most recent one we had done.  Hope this helps!  Good Luck on your Journey.

  10. While it is true that the interview is extremely short (about 5 minutes in our case), I would highly recommend that you be there if you can.  If you are not cleared to fly by your OBGYN, I would have them write that in a letter so your fiance can bring that with him the day of the interview.  I was not required to be there for my husbands interview, but they were very happy to see me there.  Good luck! :)

  11. My husband and I just had our interview on 4/16/2019, we were asked for the typical paperwork (birth certificates, marriage certificate, employment information, tax transcripts, police record, etc.) The interview questions asked were very simple, where did you meet, how did you communicate, did we have a big wedding.  They asked for no other proof from us and the talking part of the interview lasted maybe 5 minutes, if that.  I believe they had already looked through our case prior and had made a decision prior to meeting with us.  While we there we noticed a lot of happy faces which was nice.  I hope your journey goes well for you.

  12. My husband and I just had our interview on 4/16/2019 and although I sent in the affidavit of support with proof of employment, pay stubs, and tax transcripts  prior we were sent a notice 2 weeks before our interview to bring an updated affidavit of support with my 2018 w2/tax transcripts from the last 3 years, a recently dated letter from my employer, and my most recent pay stubs.  I hope this helps! Good luck :)
