I don't know what the OP was referring to originally but my guess is the immigration proposal that the President wants Congress to vote on. That proposal is being referred to as a way to decrease immigration when all it is limiting is the family based immigration option for siblings and their families not spouses or fiances. That is what I am guessing because it is being spun way out of proportion.

Also you would be surprised how many posters come on here asking for assistance or Medicaid after bringing in their parents to the country and only then finding out the high price of health insurance for them.

haha are you kidding me! I wish there was a 10 year work requirement for Medicare/ Medicaid. This is crazy, it erks me, it's a strain.

Some NYC Hospitals, they put clients on sliding scale, and they pay 10$ or 20$ a month toward their dr visit.

I am a firm believer you must give to get. I know for food stamps, theres a 5 years minimum residency requirement except for certain classifications, special immigrant, VAWA, Asylee etc.

Ok this is something completely separate than what was proposed because this law is actually ALREADY on the books but now going to be followed. Also if I remember correctly that family already had like 3 or 4 children and it was discussed here before when it happened.

I think this is what the original poster was asking about, because before we never heard so much talk about it. It is now being brought to light.

In Port of Spain, the CO do ask, what is your career path when you reach to the US?  What is your skill set? Any plans on further education..

All in line with the self sufficiency of the applicant.

Ok, so where is the link? Also I am not worried about this at all nor is my wife since she is already here.

I just find it funny that as soon as something is spoken Immigration wise there are sites and "news stations/channels" that like to spread fear in hopes that they can get more viewers and clicks. It is infuriating to say the least. Why would it mess up anything to do with AOS or ROC at all unless they are adjusting from VWP or a tourist visa?

    Exactly what I was thinking.

    here's the link

I'm not worried. I've had family members AOS last year with no issues, in less than 6 mos.. and I am filing for my spouse, with an I130 submitted in Jan, and completed NVC processing in May. I also know persons who have been denied at their AOS interview, and we're given removal orders. Immigration court here in NYC is flooded and that process can take years.

My mom filed her N400 last year and still no word yet she came on the DV lottery in 1999. So it's not just one part of immigration.

The entire process can be difficult.

I agree the media enjoys instilling fear.

Ok please give us some links because I haven't seen anything in regards to slowing down spouse petitions at all. We 're just asking because cause we see this a lot on how someone has been watching some videos on YouTube or somewhere else and get scared. All the while with no legitimate information to back it up.

Also what does your race or political affiliation have anything to.with anything?

actually, times had a story on this, but people shouldn't be worried, if you're going through consular process since, the petition must be approved,

Also, it's a greater risk by adjusting your status, because you're at the discretion of the USCIS officer and they don't have to give a reason for a denial.

Consular processing, the risk isnt there, and they must give the applicant time to correct the issues.

    Quick update...

Both kid's petitions are now at the Embassy and "Ready".

I got another email from NVC this morning to say there is an update for my wife's petition in CEAC.  I checked and it was yet another "DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED" message but the civil documents are listed as "Incomplete".  They are listing they need the Irish PCC and the local NBI.  Both were previously uploaded and accepted and they are still there.  This is the third "DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED" message she got since May 1.

This time I will ignore the "Incomplete".  Hopefully it will be "In Transit" today.  The kid's petitions switched to "In Transit" last Friday and were listed as "Ready" on Saturday!

    This is good news!

I still have not called them yet I will probably call them in June

    Hbu ?

Call them today! it takes 5 days from Potomac to NVC and if they don't have a valid email address for you, it will delay.

I called on April 29 (randomly) and they received my case on April 22, USCIS sent it on April 15th. They confirmed the email address on file and I received case creation email on May 15th.

We are waiting to be scheduled for an interview now, it took us 7 days from the day we got the email to pay fees and submit docs to case complete.

@GabLuc Not sure if that was for me but we're expediting at NVC for payment and document upload next two weeks and then once clear we'll be at the mercy of the Mumbai embassy for our final interview date (and bio/medical again). I'll be ecstatic if we can get to the embassy in July personally!! 😉 We shall see how it goes this time around...

It takes 5 days not counting weekends to complete the NVC stage once you upload everything in correct order.

We labeled our docs clearly when we called every rep told us how organized our case was.

Now we're waiting for an interview date.

I finally reached NVC yesterday after 2hr hold and confirmed that they received my case on 5/22 for entry and she told me it could take up to 8wks (🙄) to receive the email. I feel better just knowing it finally arrived. I know based on others experience that the case email will now arrive in the coming weeks!!

I'm sorry that your daughters case was separated...that's absurd. I think you should send an email to the NVC expedite alias (nvcexpedite@state.gov) with your petition number and highlight the missing case number (vs. the two you received) and request urgent assistance. Request that they expedite the missing case so you can process the family applications together and see what they tell you.

Note: Attach scanned copy of NOA2, other case emails and a written request request for expedite of the third case in order to process the girls together (call out any additional reasons that may meet expedite criteria).

I hope they respond with assistance!!

There are folks who are expedited and are waiting 5 weeks for interviews. If the case is expedited its 100% up to the embassy.

    Where is your embassy located?

Thanks for the clarification . If the C0 look only at my current income is all over the poverty , I am at $76000 for family of 5 including the beneficiary with my 2 jobs combined for this year . Last year I didn’t make enough because of too much travel and my kids being sick . Thanks again for your input

My household income is 108k for a family of 3. I put everyone living with me.

  12. I used my mom and her husband. They rejected her husband bc the tax transcript doesnt hv his entire name on it. They filed together. The transcripts only hv his last 4 letters of his surname and initial.

I had to request tax transcripts in his name and upload his transcripts, w2, proof of citizenship and domicle separately.

Thank goodness I got the transcripts online.
