Is anyone else out there STILL waiting for their biometrics appointment letter? We have an I-485 NOA date of October 17, and haven't received ours yet. We seem to be in the minority of people that are still waiting on that step. I know of one other October filer that's in the same situation. But as of now, it seems like the vast majority of October filers have moved past the biometrics step.
We filed October 8th and are still waiting for biometrics as well. I sent a email to USCIS regarding our case and was told to wait 90 days before inquiring again.

For you, if a number was assigned, after verifying identity, the local SSA office can tell you the number.
They gave us our number today but couldn't send a card as it was close to two weeks before the i-94 expires. Thank you for the information.

Hi! Has anyone experienced this before?
I applied for my SSN on Sept 3rd just a week after I arrived here. The local office said they would forward it to DHS for verification coz they couldnt do it in SAVE so we just said yes and did not argue. Almost two months now but my number still hasn't been created. I have been calling and inquiring at the local SSA about it till today when I was told to contact DHS to check it coz it seems stuck there. Called DHS but they said they don't check nor provide beneficiaries with SSN status.
Also, I have already submitted my AOS (still waiting for NOA) wherein I checked the SSN part. However, I'm still hoping to get my SSN as soon as I can so I can start driving.
Any inputs on this? Thanks!
We are having the same problem too. We applied on 08/22 and it said it was processed on 10/09. It turns out the mail person chose not to deliver the card to our apartment even though my wife's name was on the mailbox and they send it back to Maryland to get shredded. I am going back to the SSA office tomorrow I will let you know what they do.

They asked my wife if she could speak english and if she had ever applied for or used Social Security benefits but she had never even had a ssn card before. Other than that they made sure her name was spelt right to both of us and said it would be processed for manual verification but that was 2 months ago still waiting for the card. I will call them tomorrow :/

I just called my landlord for this today. I told them we didn't have a SSN for her yet as they asked for this on the application so they said they will accept a copy of her passport and I told them about the copy of police report we have from Thailand so they said they will accept that and keep it in our file, they were very nice about everything. We havn't applied for AOS yet but will tomorrow. Hope this helps someone this is for Michigan though.

Hello
My wife arrived on a K1 visa just about 2 months ago and is filing for her adjustment of status, she also has a pending SSN application with the social security administration. We have waited a month now for the SSN to arrive due to manual verification process but haven't received or heard any useful information back when calling them. I have read this process could take months and we do not plan to wait any longer to file I-485, but are not sure how to fill out I-765. Currently we have checked no to 13.a stating she has not officially been issued a social security card and checked yes for 14 and 15 stating she would like to receive one. She made a note under additional information page regarding this item that she had applied with SSA prior to filing out form I-765 but has not received anything back and has no SSN to file, she also wrote the date that she applied with the SSA office. Do you guys have any advice for this situation? I am worried because I am not sure if this will cause problems in the future for her. Really appreciate everyone on here thank you in advance.

Hello
I read on the I-485 instructions that I-130 is needed to send along with I-485 to adjust status. My fiance came on a K1 visa and we married within the 90 days can anyone tell me if we need to fill out the I-130 too? I don't see it in the guide so that is why I am confused. Thank you for all of your help.

Hi all - I'm still looking for an answer to my question if anyone would be able to help! My fiancé doesn't have any dependents. It will just be him coming to the US. He will look for employment once he is able after we are married. In this case, would I still have to list him as a dependent on the I-134? Thanks!
I was approved last week and didnt list any dependants. If you do not have children or are not taking care of a dependant adult in america it should be fine to list none.

need help frinde:: my u.s sponsor filled I-134 Affidavit of Support and sent it with w-2 form and 1099 form is that enough??
and my interview in mid ofJune is there any problem with the time between fill and interview??Hello A
I just sent my I-134 I included a letter from my employer stating my salary
, that it is a full time permanent position and start date. I also includded a letter reaffirming our intent to be married within 90 days with my signature , 3 months of pay stubs, 3 years of w2 and irs tax transcripts ( i sent 3 years to be safe maybe not neccessary), a letter from my bank stating the date I opened the account, present balance and amount deposited last year as well as sending the i-134 itself. Im not sure what your embassy asks for but I think it is a safe bet they might be looking for these things too. Also dont forget to send continued relationship evidence to take to your interview I sent that too. I hope this helps good luck with everything.

hi Guys,
The below requirement is per the embassy's information packet.
The current processing time is 30 business days.
Can the packet 3 cover letter be replaced by some other paperwork to start to obtain the police certificate for a K1 fiancee visa in Thailand?
Please share your experience.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THAI POLICE CLEARANCE APPLICATION for APPLICANT RESIDING IN THAILAND
• Requesting letter from the embassy of the country to which the applicant plans to travel. A notice from the US Embassy regarding your case (i.e. a packet 3 cover letter) can be used for this purpose.thank you
I sent my fiancee a copy of noa2 and they used that she has police cert before nvc has sent anything to the embassy. Hope this helps

Hi, if I may ask, what is this letter from employer? I mean, what kind of letter is it? It is the first time I have read that this is needed for K1 interview.
Thank you!!!
The one i asked my boss to make wanted my date of employment , salary
, and if it was a full or part time position and my boss added extra regarding my work ethic and prospects for future advancedment but i think they just look for the top 3 i listed

I'm wondering how recent the documents need to be in relation to the interview date? We are still waiting and don't have an interview scheduled yet, so I'm wondering if I hold off on things like bank statements and current balances on the I-134, past 2 pay stubs, date on my employee letter...what have you guys done or noticed? How long before your interviews were your documents dated?
Thanks for any advice! We're very excited to be one step closer and (hopefully) having the longest part of the K-1 process over with! (And then we can look forward to the green card process 😝)
I wanted to ask this question today too thank you for asking it 😂 good luck

It's not common to happen at most embassies, but can happen anywhere. I've seen it with MENA countries, "western" countries, Asia, etc.\
Hopefully they understand it's not a wedding. What's done is done, though...no way to know for certain what the IO or CO will determine.
yes 😟 i wish i found this website way sooner then last month. I followed a book by nolo but it seems now that it can give bad advice sometimes. I appreciate the community here alot you guys are wonderful.

Yea that may cause some issues. The more local, or traditional ceremonies are the ones that bring about the most problems for people later on. Now, that being said, doesn't mean it will happen as in getting denied because of it, unfortunately won't know until embassy level down the road. Not sure what you can do to 'counter' this with the embassy other than perhaps some form of sworn affidavits from the family about it just being an engagement party. It's really an unknown but we always advise against such customs and all just because of the chance of getting a denial as you have seen in another thread already.
Ok I will look into getting the sworn affidavit. Thank you for your help good luck everyone

These are mostly stories from MENA and some other countries, but, I have heard of one from Thailand for being denied because of it. Essentially the embassy sees you as "too married" for a K-1 but not married enough for a CR-1. Was it a formal celebration type party of local customs and all or? Being if just normal street clothes and some friends and family, might not be an issue, but if fancy or custom type cultural clothing, then may have an issue.
It was formal at a temple and we exchanged rings in the photos as part of their custom. But it wasnt in cultural clothes.Thank you for your response I appreciate it.

Hello
I saw a thread earlier today about being denied due to sending engagement ceremony photos and having them mistaken for a wedding by the embassy. Has anyone experienced this problem in Thailand's embassy? I am starting to worry because i sent our engagement ceremony photos with our i-129f but maybe im thinking to much.
Thank you for any replies
In-person interpreter needed at biometrics appointment?
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas
Posted
Hi bjh
We had our biometric in January. My wife was called back and I was not able to go in with her but was told that they would call me in if they needed an interpreter. All we did was a picture and finger prints no oath at this time. There was a small form we filled out as well but I was able to help with that.
