I wish I had $2000 to spare. If I had that kind of surplus cash around, I'd have gone to a 3rd party country to see my fiance. It'll be a year since we've been together this coming Christmas. I do hope that those who get on the case will make it easier for the rest of us.

Lol right? I would have gone to canada (when this was an option) or whatever and be with my fiancé by now. I actually got another reply from my embassy after mentioning how others are getting reissuances/interviews, yet others aren't (non-plaintiffs). But they sent the same generic email reply referring me back to their site where all my questions are answered...

  2. Can they prioritise plaintiffs over non-plaintiffs? I figured this would also be illegal, but that's not exactly stopped them thus far.. from some of the lawyers Twitter, you can see some people have started getting interview dates, whereas others like myself haven't. This has been happening in the same country with same if not similar expired k1 situations too- and my embassy just direct me straight back to their website and wont answer my questions nor explain anything.  😧

The lawyers who represent the plaintiffs seem to be optimistic the ruling will trickle down to non-plaintiffs and resume visa processing. They did a Facebook live and answered some questions during. (https://www.facebook.com/105643946137854/videos/844179766403117 if anyone is interested)

Kind of makes me regret not throwing a couple grand at a lawyer to get in on this case though, maybe I'd be seeing my fiance for Christmas.

Thanks for the link! I thought it was a recent one but I watched this one a while ago. We prob wont hear much else until a bit after 3rd december but fingers crossed anyway.   I would have also been a plaintiff if I was able to, but not having the money and all that, it was never going to be an option lol

  4. Yeah that's true. As for the lockdown/travel ban, hopefully if they reissue/process k1s again then they'd be given exception to travel. But who knows at this point. It would be nice just to be given at least a guarantee those who have expired visas (such as myself) that we will be giving a reissuance free of charge and given enough time on it so it doesn't expire so quickly considering the bans (assuming fiancés aren't given exception to travel). I also know you can't be in the UK during the past 14 days. But hopefully they will have other measures in place- it isn't like we can't provide an address where we will quarantine, plus any testings before, during, and after travel.  But just wishful thinking

  5. I just checked the travel state gov site and this was recently added:

So does this mean k1s will actually be prioritized now? (even though they said we had high priority effective from the 28th August and NOTHING had changed for us, but hey, isn't like we're waiting and our lives are on hold or anything...) :DDDDD

    Here's the link btw! https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/phased-resumption-routine-visa-services.html

Also new page for us brits: https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/u-s-visa-and-travel-faqs/
but some more contradiction from what state gov site says... image.png.a186f76d2c7e266cddef33fa13803466.png

  6. Nope- I've not heard or managed to find out any new information. Just the same old:

The U.S. Embassy in London has not yet resumed K-1 visa services.  We are currently processing visas for spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens (IR-1, CR-1, IR-2 or CR-2), but are unable to proceed with fiancé(e) visa applications (K-1) or reissuances. We are taking the issue of fiancé(e) visas seriously and we will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a timeframe at this time.

Your questions are answered on our website. Please keep checking our website regularly as that is where we will share updated information about the Presidential Proclamation, travel and visa services as soon as it is available. We are unable to predict when standard services will resume, but please be assured that we will update the website when there is any news.

I can kind of understand that part, though. Because between us doing a medical, it being sent to the embassy and us getting our visas we could get infected. So any Covid test we take at the medical might be several weeks old by the time we get the visa. 😶 If anything it would make more sense to get tested a couple of days before leaving, and perhaps again after arriving in the US just to make sure.

Oh tbh I actually thought it would be arranged the way you suggested, but guess they wont do that huh? lol. And then I assumed when we eventually do enter, they'd get us to take another test too. Which I'm ok with.

Yeah, that’s why everyone here is so annoyed (me included). But the travel ban gets cited as a reason for them not issuing the visas, despite the visa not being banned.

There is no exemption either though. There’s a specific exemption for spouses and children which is why IR1/CR1 visas are getting processed and not K1’s.

Yeah I thought so. I don't understand why they're using the proclamation as an excuse to not issue/ reissue K1s. It isn't like we wont quarantine and can't give them an address to check- we planned on moving to the country which they're aware of. I don't understand what they're playing at tbh.  We're willing to follow procedure and provide address proof if they need to check on us (even take a covid test which I think should be done anyway, when we go for our second medical- which btw turns out to be OPTIONAL?!), yet same old email directing us back to their website.
