You were wrong, I told you so, people who came along and read your incorrect info, would see in that same thread, relatively near by, that the information was incorrect. Since this isn't a board about immigration to Ireland, and in both cases your response was a tangent from the OP, I didn't go in to any further detail. For your information, and from your own link:
You can find further details about the application that is required from the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service.

What the OP continues to fail to grasp is the unlikelihood of her "fiancé" being granted a work visa for something as uncertain and transparent as "wanting to be a stand-up comic." In its place, she seems to think desire, will and tenacity equate to the tangibility of actual professional credentials. No one is questioning the necessity to keep trying if you want to make it, but that is not grounds for bringing a foreign national into our borders only to potentially slough off the system.
The U.S. is already full of starving and beleaguered native artists whom never make it into the business, funny or not. I do not believe the government finds it in its best interest to also begin importing them.
When you apply for a work visa, you must declare an employer, i.e. steady source of work. Stand-up comics travel around their home-cities, home-states, and the country, living wherever they must, doing gigs, and hoping they break through. That's actually quite fine for USC's, but do you really think the USCIS or DoS would condone allowing a foreign national to come do so? I think not.
That's the equivalent of saying someone "sings really good," and wants to come to the U.S. to give the business a "shot." But they've had no demonstrable success in their home country, and cannot provide any proof of excellence that would make it clear that their profession is already established and one could expect a reasonable continuation of it in the U.S.
She isn't applying for American Idol! It's a visa to enter the U.S.! Stop berating posts for not supporting your "feelings" and what you think she is capable of. All that the system is interested in is what she has already done, and if that translates to actual work directly upon arrival in the U.S.
Again, third-party love is not a variable in obtaining a work visa for someone that is being sponsored by someone else entirely. Wanting that individual in the U.S. is not a right that can be demanded. And suggesting that a foreign national is "really so funny that she makes my face hurt" as sufficient evidence substantiating a legal work permit is just plain absurd.
When we speak of work visas we mean steady occupations one can rely upon. Nurse. Medical doctor. Attorney. Accountant. Engineer. Scientist. Something verifiable and substantial. They pre-arrange an employer, and then show up and start working. Not someone that "would make a really good accountant," and then shows up at a POE with a heart full of dreams.
I saw an episode of some real-T.V. show about Homeland Security, and a young European girl showed up in JFK Intl. with no visa, no employer, no contacts, and a large bag of belly dancing clothes. It was clear to the authorities that her desire to belly dance was not sufficient grounds for entry. Even though she seemed very flexible, and was in fact talented. But that is how individuals end up falling under that radar, skirting the control of immigration, and becoming illegal aliens; or, worse yet, fall prey to people will ill-intent. So they turned her back around and shipped her home.
Not that your friend would, but her situation is little more substantial than this young girl's. Sure, if your "connections" land her a stable job at a comedy house then you may be able to pass that off. But your portrayal makes it sound a bit more flimsy than that. And if it walks like a duck it usually is a duck. If that is not the case, then your attitude is her worst enemy and I'd leave the immigration process to others. For her sake, at least.
I found this discussion interesting at first, and then comical, but now I'm just bored with you. You turned a serious question that folks would have been more than happy to assist you with into a farce.
You'll need more than good luck with that now.

What the alien fiancee needs is a method to secure LPR status, not simply a work visa as the current federal law would not allow for adjusting status through a same sex marriage. When that law might change is anyone's guess.
It may be well worth the time and expense to consult a qualified immigration attorney. And probably one in the Gay and Lesbian community to get a good sense of what lies ahead. The alien fiancee doesn't want to run afoul of the law and wind up facing some of the harsher consequences such as a ban on adjusting status or worse, deportation.
Regarding stand up, good luck to her on that. I lived with a marginally well known stand up for a few years and it was a tough industry.

A lot of people don't even look at the guides or pinned topics. I think the point of the Wiki is a really thorough answer (like you thought of my tax explanation--thanks) can be stored. Then when it comes up again, one can answer and perhaps say "read more detail here in the Wiki." You could have muliple pages so every thing UK doesn't become a long read. We will always have people we have to spoon feed because they aren't going to dig and read for information. The UK Embassy webpage is pretty clear on what a K1 does as far as documents to send, sign, duplicate, or bring to the interview. Yet there's always somebody who asks on the forum and needs an answer because reading for information isn't their style. While I would like to help, I'm not likely to write my best answer more than once.
Never got into understanding the Wiki editing myself is part of the reason I never worked on it. However I finally did slightly update something about getting HPV shot. You have to do a different sign up to register to Wiki edit I think.
Yes, watches are allowed. They ride through the security scanner off the wrist, then you're good to go.

Yes, I did, and I have to agree with Nich-Nick that the Wiki is the place for updating this information. It's nice that you have the ability to edit your posts indefinitely, but it's not what the forum was designed for - it's what the wiki and the guides are for. If the Wiki is the place that people put their new/updated information, it gives everyone a chance to correct outdated/wrong information.
I have personally witnessed you, Sundrop, giving out the same WRONG information out about immigration to Ireland as an EU citizen twice. It's fine if you disagree with me, but if you had posted this information in your forever-editable-post, I would not have the opportunity to correct it near where the mistake occurs in the thread, so people would read this wrong information, and never get to my response to you. On the other hand, if your misinformation occurred in the Wiki, I could correct it myself with links to the relevant website from the Irish government.
Edited to add the word 'twice', italicised above.

It's great that you are making this effort to gather info into one place Sundrop. I haven't read it all but I will. Could I suggest that you put it all in a VJ Wiki article. A long time ago Poiteen and some of the gals before me were wanting to organize info and get it in the Wiki. She asked for suggestions and fine tuning much like you are in this thread. I promised to help as soon as I got past the hurricane Ike damages and Nick's arrival/wedding/AOS submission. Well I never did. There is a start but the things you are writing are well organized and could replace or supplement what is already there. Then when you're long gone into blissful marriage and lose interest, somebody else can edit the Wiki as needed. Threads seem to get lost over time or way too long. The same things discussed today in threads were well explained over and over again. The people that know those answers have written them so many times, they get tired of repeating it.
So with your ####### and drive and excellent writing skills, would you please consider doing a UK Wiki? Then a link to the Wiki could be passed down. I would suggest that if different articles, they should all begin with UK-___________. Here's the Wiki topic page. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages
You'll see some UK things started (in the U's) but also Interview at London Embassy, which would be better if it said UK-Interview at London Embassy. And there's an article about immigration to the UK in the I's.
This thread could remain the place for people adding ideas and suggestions and contributions while you fine-tune the Wiki. It's great that you can actually edit the first post, which never happens, but it's still a thread with a 2010 date and will eventually get lost and clogged with chit chat. So???? Anybody want a Wiki article (set of multiple pages) we can point people to?

What part of the OP's post didn't you read?
Unless the OP is lying, he just explained the reason why they were denied. Quick courtships, engagements, and previous immigrant marriages are rarely a reason for denial in and of themselves. This is yet more misinformation, more FUD, more wrong.

It's now £7.20p for a single prescription here in the UK.
I have to admit that health care is one of my concerns about moving to the US, over here I can get in and see my doctor on the same day for emergencies or within a week for non urgent appts.
I was diagnosed with ME over five years ago and that process involved a lot of blood tests, x-rays, MRI scans and hospital appts, all of which cost me nothing because of the NHS.
After being diagnosed I had my own ME counseller who taught me coping methods and gave me an idea of what to expect with my long term health, without her I would have seriously struggled to get to grips with my condition.
As it was, I was able to concentrate on getting all the care that I could for my - at times - extremely debilitating illness, there are still days when I cannot even walk to the bathroom and am pretty much bedbound, thankfully these days are few and far between and only occur when I've pushed myself too hard and too far, I know the warning signs thanks to the brilliant care I received at the hands of the NHS so can listen to my body when it starts to tell me that enough is enough.
Would it have been the same if I had to go through the American health care system?
I think not, I would have been stumped at the initial blood tests and further tests purely because of the money involved.
Therefore I wouldn't have gotten a definite diagnoses and wouldn't have been able to subsequently get the after care that I needed.
There's also the time I had a big motorcycle accident, I had various internal bleeds, lots of broken bones including my spine and a lengthy hospital stay, after I was discharged I also had a long time in Physiotherapy and lots of follow up hospital appts.
Of course, I'm not American and didn't go through the American health care system, I might be wrong. My point is that ok, there are flaws to the NHS, of course there are, there's still bureaucrats running it, but in essence it works and it works well.
Having a health system run this way is not the end of the world as some people seem to think (not on this thread I hasten to add) it's worked more than once for me and plenty of other people that I know.
It's not the system that makes the people work, it's the people that make the system work.

I broke up with my ex years ago. He was a very violent man towards me and my eldest daughter. There are police records proving this.
One night in particular he came to my home after we had broke up and kicked in my front door. 6 police officers dragged him out of my home that night.
I was forced due to death threats towards me and my daughter from him to move into a womens refuge. He wasnt too happy, we were talking to the police about the violence he had often bestowed onto us.
We were never married, he took me to court for access to both children. I fought it tooth and nail even to the point i was told by my solicitor if i didnt atleast agree to supervised access i would be in contempt.
After what this man did to my daughter hell would freeze over before i allowed anyone to sit her in a room with him. Supervised or not!
After two years of court appts he lost his case and he was denied all access to both children. (court records proving this)
I explained all the above to the Embassy lady and told her i currently live in a safe home...I want to keep it that way.
If i have any court records..she said to take. But she did say they do not ask for anything anyways. So it is entirely at the discretion of the consular officer.
I have no court records..But i can get. But even something as simple as proving i lived in a womens refuge etc may suffice the interviewer.
Or even the newspaper story..since it did hit my local press.
One things for sure i have NO intention of contacting my ex. As much as i love my fiance to pieces my safety and my childrens is paramount.
Im just being honest right from the off with the embassy and we will see in couple of months how it was for me and my family to get through this process without nudging the ex awake! >.<
I would advise anyone in any sort of domestic violence situation like mine was..to not do anything without speaking to the embassy first. They are there to help and assist...Let them!
Dont place yourself or your family in danger again.

Actually, just wanted to point out that the wife (if the father is married) does not HAVE to fill out an I-864A. The wife would only need to fill one out as well if they need both the fathers AND her income to go over 125%. If the father's income is over 125% alone then the wife doesn't need to do anything.

The fee is $400 -- the extra $70 is paid only by CR1/IR1 applicants filing via the NVC for I-864 processing. Another little goodie for DCFers is that we don't pay it, making DCF the fastest and cheapest way to get a green card. (Go us!) I believe the $400 is broken down -- $355 for the visa, $45 for a security fee on top -- but you pay it as one fee.

Don't stress Adichiwa. As the OP stated he is just starting on the I-130 so they haven't requested ANYTHING yet, but even if they had it might not be the same for you at all. Every consulate is different, so unless you two are going through the same consulate you probably wont have identical processes. In general what you stated above is true, but in Brazil for example (and this is new) they don't send a Packet 3 at all. I sent in the I-130, was approved and got an interview date at the same time. I have to bring the DS forms and I-864 all at the interview and since the I-130 I haven't them anything! Every consulate is different and sometimes even the same consulate can be different from case to case (which I'm guessing is just to stress us out! )

Pretty good explanation of what I had in mind. I've been out of pocket all day enjoying San Francisco.
To the OP, when you get to know me, you won't read anything extra into what I write. I gave you two options. Both require addressing any legitimate reason the Consulate had in reaching their conclusion. Both people must be legally free to marry on the date the I-129F petition is filed. You don't indicate which of the two of you the Consulate concluded was not free to marry on the filing date or ceased to be free to marry after the filing date but I suspect one of you knows exactly what the problem is. If it's not you, it's him.
In a similar vein, I spoke to a woman today who says her fiance who stayed in the USA 9 years on a tourist visa told her the CBP officer didn't give him a reason for denying him entry to the USA a few months after he left. I just hate it when I have to inform people their supposed loved one is lying to them.

Some of you guys really don't get it. How is that possible?
Since we have outlawed slavery, the poorest of the poor immigrants do the slave work for not more than food and pocket change. We only can implement drastic changes to the immigration system once we can replace the illegal immigrants with Americans. The Republicans have been working on this with a master plan for years by dumbing down the people and making education and health care as unaffordable as possible. Ever noticed Americans, even decorated Veterans, holding a sign, asking for a handout where YOU live?
Dumb and hungry people who have nothing will not revolt and will work for food, just to survive. The Obama administration is now spoiling this plan. Until the Republicans are in power again and can finish what they started, America needs the illegal immigrants like the air we breathe.
Don't believe me? Do you really know somebody who will pick cotton or strawberries for 12 hours a day, getting paid $3.50 an hour, of which they deduct $300 at months' end for the bag of straw you are sleeping on in that rundown 8-person shack? My guess is, not yet. Until then, we need those workers.
