It sounds as though all will be well.  If they want further information from you, they'll contact you.  If the interviewer was satisfied, it seems most likely that she needed to get a supervisor to sign off on the approval.  Keep the faith.

    Hi Fam!!!

So I just had my I485 interview this morning at NYC Federal Plaza and went by myself. It wasn’t that bad but it left me puzzled!

The interview itself only took 5-10 mins but the waiting time was 1 hour.

The lady officer was nice and very professional.
Here are all the questions she asked me:

    1. Do you have your passport? (I gave her my recent passport but she was looking for my old one when I first entered the US, didn’t have it with me, so I apologized for not bringing it)

    2. Where is your husband?
    3. When was the last time you saw him?
    4. What are your old addresses together?
    5. How long did you live in your address? (I might have messed this up because i can’t remember honestly since it was in 2017, but i gave her dates, just not sure if it was right)

    6. What was his old address?
    7. What’s his mom’s name?
    8. How did u meet?
    9. Do you have any more proof that your marriage is legitimate? ( I said no more but I brought our marriage cert, she said it’s okay she has a copy)

    10. What’s your current marital status? (Still married but i showed her my divorce papers that I just filed and it’s still on process )

    11. Do you have your medical? (Handed her my medical)

    12. When was your last entry in the US? (Answered her and she asked if I have my recent I94)

She then proceed to the Yes and No questions.

The only documents she asked from me was my passport, state ID, medical and I94. I thought she was going to ask for my old EAD/AP cards but she didn’t even ask for it then she told me that this interview is over and handed me Notice of Interview Results and if there’s anything they would mail me for updates. And That’s how my interview went. She didn’t say if it was approved or not.

Was I supposed to bring more proof of bonafide marriage? I wasn’t even prepared for that.

    What should I expect next?
Is it possible for them to schedule me for another interview or RFE since I didn’t bring my old passport and more proof of bonafide marriage?

Thanks for the info is great! specially for the group member that are still waiting. If I am not mistaken all of us mentioned on your post are already Green card holder.  Your interview was fast considering processing time for NYC is between 14-24 months.

Bring your marriage certificate, and if you are divorced ,or if you were divorced before, bring the divorce decree as well. If you have kids bring a copy of their birth's certificate, if your spouse was divorced before bring a copy of his divorce decree.
  12. Thanks

Hi! I just want to share with you my experience. I travelled with my EAD/AP twice in 2019 even before my VAWA was approved, so I think you will be good. Just the normal procedure where they take you in a different room and they check your passport and card. I dont remember them asking a lot of questions, probably stayed in the room for 2-5mins. Immigration officer just asked me about my flight though and how was my vacation and that's it. My entry was in JFK NY. Hope this helps!!!

Do Not go to the interview without a lawyer. Especially if you had a second interview, and they have doubts about your marriage. I recently had an interview in Pittsburgh, and it was a total crash. I went there by myself, thinking it will not be hard. Brought my taxes, all papers. But the officer didn't care about my taxes, he said that he doesn't need them. All he cared about was to break me or bring me to the breaking point. He start questioning me from the day 1 I came to the US, how I met my husband, why didn't I go back when my marriage didn't work, that I am a bad mom, since my kids are in my country, and I don't care about them. I was in shock. He started blaming me that I am from the Russian community, who pretty good knows how to prepare papers and fool migration. I never heard about such an interview. It was a lot. He kept me for more than an hour, with his blaming game. I was trying to answer him also, but since I was alone, I couldn't tell him you have no right to talk to me like this. I was afraid he could do something worse and just tried to give answers. He told most of you migrants do these, thinking that we are in USCIS here all stupid, but we are not. bla bla bla. In the end, he told me he doesn't believe me, even my case was approved in Vermont and he has to investigate it. It has been 2 months since my interview day, and I still didn't get an answer from USCIS. So my advice, do not go there without a lawyer. It is better to have a show watcher than become a show victim of some officer, who hates migrants.

The hardest thing in the world is to attend your interview, be subjected to stress from the interviewer, and keep your wits about you.  Depending on what happens, some ideas are:
-- politely say that the I-360 has already been adjudicated, and "can we please focus on the I-485?"
-- startle the interviewer by saying sincerely, "I'm sorry if you're having a bad day."
-- if all else fails, state politely but firmly, "I ask that your supervisor join us here, now."  Repeat this.

It is Wednesday, and time for our approval-evoking, progress-prompting Semiweekly Semiofficial VAWA-Thread Joke:
    ===============================
    BEEN THROUGH IT BEFORE

A weary, sweating policeman emerged from an inner room of the station.

"Well, did you give that thug the third degree?" asked the captain.

"Yeah," was the tired reply.  "Six of us kept screaming and shouting and badgering him with questions for over four hours."

"And what did you get out of him?" asked the captain eagerly.

"Nothing," said the policeman disgustedly.  "All he did was doze off and from time to time murmur, 'Yes, dear.  You're right, dear.'"

My interview was scheduled on Oct. 15, so yeah 2 weeks this Friday. I’m also checking my previous address but they didn’t get anything and my lawyer’s office didn’t get anything too 😓 called my district rep and senator again this morning and they sent another inquiry. I also called USCIS again this morning and requested for an infopass. They just gave me a service info number and said somebody is going to call me back to schedule an infopass (don’t know when that will be)  Hopefully I hear something by the end of the week. I’m really getting anxious.
  25. Thanks
MGJ_NY reacted to balo101 in VAWA, Part 24
i made the infopass on the behalf of someone else. Yes they did give the the appointment two weeks after the call.
