I hope we all get through this pandemic together unscathed.Stay safe!

While updating my profile, I thought I should share this with you guys who are yet to have your interview.

NOTE: Your interview starts from moment the I.O welcomes you from the entrance of the hallway NOT when you all get to his/her office. Your responses and your body language to the small talk after " Good morning/afternoon" in the hallway and his/her  quick impression of you both as a couple is a build-up to what he/she is going to ask from both of you as soon as you sit down. They are Psychologists with years of experience!
    Good luck everyone!

100% true. Cos I was so supprised how easy and fast mine was.

Wow!That was nice.I hope I get the same experience.Am wondering if I have to do another affidavit of support or something.Does any one know?.I habe my interview on the 3 march

My case has changed to NEW CARD BEING produced!

If the affidavit with which the AOS was filed is good. You don't need a new one cos they already have it.But you may just go with one but it is 99.9% likely that you will go home with it.

Our income as a family has increased considerably since last year.We had to make a new affidavit with updated new name, updated income and everything but they didn't ask for it cos the one we filed with the petition was ok.

  3. I am confused.

    I had my interview today.

When our interviewer called me, as I walked up to him with my wife I started a joke with him immediately and we all chatted and laughed through the hallway to his office.

When we got to his office the guy just had us take the oath, we cracked jokes for a while then he went straight to ask me the YES/NO questions in the I-148.

He made some changes on the application and had me sign on the changes.

Next he asked for any supporting joint documents that we had.I gave it to him and he filed it.

He never asked any personal questions or anything about our life.

Then gave us a printout to acknowledge we came for the interview.then said even though the letter says it takes 120days to hear from them we would hear from them with 2-6 weeks and that was it.

I felt it was strange. He didn't ask for any of the things listed on the invitation letter.I went home with all the paperworkworks.

    Is it normal???

You should consider the option of submitting an expedite request IF in fact you only receive AP instead combo card. And if it’s denied, perhaps your interview is coming up soon, you never know. One good thing about submission of expedite request regardless of the outcome ( base on my experience and few people here) is that the officer in charge of your case will at least take a second look at it.

    Goodluck.

By next week i will try dat if i dnt get a combo card.

  5. I woke up so sad this morning because many people who applied for their AOS later than me have either gotten their Greencard or EAD while I'm still waiting.I just checked my AP on the USCIS website and saw this. But why would they approve that separately when I actually applied for EAD too? Besides, what I really need now is my EAD not AP.

All the same, the waiting continues.

  6. I dont like repeating myself. But for d benefit of the newbies in this process, once again, if u r for "K-1" VISA and u r going through the Lagos embassy it is "not a must" that they will send anything to you. It is only a must for CR-1 and IR-1.

They never sent any to me and even a lot of others that I know.they sent to few others.but it doesn't make any difference.just do your home work and take the necessary paperwork to your interview you will be fine. What you are expecting from them is nothing special other than the list of things to come along with.of course those things are easily found on the internet. It's d same thing.Your own wont be different. You guys like making things unnecessarily difficult for yourselves.

Good day all ...please I need your suggestion,I got an email from National Visa  center ..on my CR1 spousss visa processing status ...after uploading all required civil documents, the document indicating rejected was that of police certificate from Alagbon...I don't know if it's the way I scanned it or its police certificates(Alagbon) are nomore accepted by US  embassy .please find attached copy of the police certificate police certificate.pdf

You should scan all the pages serially na and the receipt separately.detach d pin and do the scanning den save Dem in PDF.u can staple it back afterwards.

  8. You don't have any problem at all. A week is not bad.some people spent less Dan a week together and just one visit, with a bigger age difference yet they were approved in same Lagos embassy.the law says u must meet at least once.it did not say hundred times.

Lagos embassy no get wahala at all with K1.just make sure the filling was properly done.nothing to worry about.

In some countries some people have met several times but we're still denied but Lagos embassy is very easy going.

    Good day All,

    Please I need your advice.

My Fiance requested for our petition status via email to NVC and received a response from them stating that our application has been sent to Lagos. They also stated all required details and asked us to contact Lagos Consular Office to request for status of our K1 Petition. We acted as advised but we are yet to receive a response from them after 7 working days.

In order to beat the time, we have filled and submitted our DS-160 form and also paid. Though we have not received any mail or notification from the US Consular office Lagos that they have received our petition and scheduled us for interview. Neither have they mailed the Instruction package, packet 3 or 4 to us. My questions are:

    1) Can I go ahead for my medicals and police certificate or we should wait till we receive instruction package from US Consular office Lagos?

    2) With this notice "...K visa applicants should not schedule their appointment until after they have received an Instruction package from the Consulate...." on their website, can we still go ahead to book appointment since we have access to schedule interview date before all the dates are occupied? We can book a date in 2 week with the hope that our medicals will be ready by then?

Thank you for your kind response.

From my personal experiences of receiving mails from the U.S I was able to understand the timing of packages sent from the NVC and when it gets to the Consulate in Naija.

the cases are atimes sent through speed post(very likely DHL) and that takes about 2-7 days. so if you are fortunate and ur case is sent through that means your case gets to the embassy within a week.

Atimes it is sent as priority mail through (USPS) and that takes around two to three weeks to send a package from U.S to Naija. so if that is your case you should expect your case to take some weeks but less than a month.

So with that in mind, you can schedule ur appointment,do your medicals, police certificate, etc and wait for the thing to get to the embassy.

But if you are the type that panic a lot u can wait till your case gets to the embassy before you start those processes.

  10. After scheduling my K1 visa Interview, the confirmation came out with the old DS-160 number which I used in my B2 application some years back.

I know someone here must have experienced this.please how did you solve it? I already messaged support@ustraveldocs.com and support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com to see if they would rectify it.

    No response yet.

It’s the confirmation you get after scheduling an interview online.

In other words, I can do everything including the medicals before the case gets to the embassy. I'm happy for the info because before now some people had been giving me a counter advise that I can only do the medicals when the embassy sends me an invitation.

I'll go ahead and do everything before my case gets to the embassy.

Yes you can pay the visa fee and fill out a DS 160 while waiting for your case to arrive at the embassy. You fiance can also do the police report but note that if he doesn’t attend interview within 90 days of getting the police certificate, he will have to get another one. Medical can only be done if he has an interview date as they’ll request for the visa appointment confirmation before he can be seen.

Please what is visa appointment confirmation? Is it the invitation sent to you from the embassy or the confirmation you get after scheduling for interview online?

  13. My fiance got a new job in another state and will be moving next week.

Now the I-134 has her old address, our petition has her old address.everything we have done so  far has her old address.

She has arranged to get a new apartment and address once she moves to her new location.

Our case has been given a case number by NVC and I'm preparing to schedule an interview.

What address should I use in the ds160?
