I think you can leave for limited duration  (less than one year) and then can re-enter US as long as your 18/24 months extension letter has not expired.  The only gotcha is that USCIS may take an action on your case (i.e. biometrics appointment; schedule an interview, etc.) and may or may not update online status.  We know they mail a notification to the address on file.  So, if I were to leave the country for an extended period of time, I would make sure someone is monitoring my mail.

Thanks. I'm being crazy and contemplating going back to England to see fam as I'm feeling so homesick. I moved here in April 2019, had a baby Aug 2020, and another Aug 2021. Covid came just as I found out I was pregnant so I've just been stuck indoors, obviously have done some things so I don't mean 24/7, however I know no one here. Plus hubby would be at home for the mail and I'm on thinking a few months

Hey all, had my interview today at Kendall. Was waiting an hour before they called us in, the lady was nice and we were possibly in there for less than 10 mins. she simply asked my name, DOB, address. Asked to see both our birth certs. Sad thing about the whole experience is she did not approve us on the spot, she said there were a few last checks that needed to be done. Case tracker updated to 'Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed''

Hey all, just an update on my last post - my case tracker app updated today to ‘new card is being produced’ :D:D:D:D

    1) How do you know what office is processing your paperwork?

    2) I have just received notice that interview is ready to be scheduled ; can I expect my temporary work / travel parole anytime soon? Does that come after the interview?

    Timeline:

    1) 8/22/2019, case submitted.
    2) 9/6/2019, case received
    3) 9/12/2019, fingerprint scheduled
    4) 9/30/2019, fingerprint done
    4) RFIE mailed, 10/22/2019
    5) Overnighted RFIE respones, 11/29/2019
    6) RFIE Response received, 11/7/2019
    7) Case Ready to be scheduled for interview, 11/15/2019

The office will more than likely be where you did your biometrics.

If you have the interview and it is approved you would get your 2 year green card rather than the combo card. A lot of people seem to be in this position.

I'm in the same boat, the HUGE Seattle line.  I just came over to this forum to see how others were doing...it's so tough seeing everyone get their interview dates and knowing that mine is still something like a year away!  I guess AP and work is what we have to pin our hopes on for now...or some sort of Christmas miracle.  You're around a month ahead of me so I'm following your timeline to see when that AP and work authorisation lands!  Good luck!

Don't be disheartened. My office is Kendall, FL, where the wait time online said 15-32 months or something...I applied in August and got my interview scheduled for 12/05. Just remember to be patient and don't get too worked up when you see others have appointments. Mine did not update online until after I receive my letter in the mail.
