It works in a sense I could open and view it. I think sometimes google doc shared document misbehave for whatever reason when viewed on difference devices. That document though seems to have a bunch of personal identifiable information and a link to embassy site. I didn't see unique instructions but I only gave it very cursory look.

Link INSIDE the document to "For interview preparation instructions, please visit:
https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/GEO - Georgetown.pdf" does not in fact work, but

    https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Supplemental/GEO - Georgetown.pdf this one should.

Cool! Thanks!! We are in that weird situation where it's a Cuban fiance having to go through a 3rd country neither of us knows much about.

It needs no formal "christening" from any government agency. So a copy of the USC birth certificate is fine and an original is not required but always check the requirements for the interview to what is needed. If you abide by those requirements then you will be fine.

BTW who told you that you needed and "Apostille" USC birth certificate? Just curious. :D

My inner paranoid and OCD voice told me. :)

When I called to order it, the company that handles that for the state asked if it needed to be apostilled for immigration purposes. Perhaps in retrospect, they meant me the USC immigrating to another country?  LOL

@Greenbaum do you have all this info for Guyana's embassy? I'm Cuban but our interviews will be in Guyana. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

The pdf link of interview preparation requirements in the doc that Greenbaum provided doesn't seem to be working. Here is a link to that section on the embassy's website: https://gy.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

It doesn't mention legalized birth certificates or police records. I'll email the embassy and ask them directly what they require for Cuban fiance applicants.

Thinking about AOS already lol. I saw that I would have to send my AOS package to Dallas Lockbox, but when I try to look up the processing times on the USCIS website, the options are only field offices.

So does AOS get processed at the filed office closest to me ? ( mine would be Mount Laurel, NJ), and not at a service center ?

When I try to look up the processing time for Advance Parole, for example, I only see 5 service centers, and no field office options..so where does EAD and AP get processed?

Yes. Find the closest field office to you and lookup their processing time. Good luck!!

I think she is asking how approved 129F gets forwarded to NVC and to embassies. I am pretty sure it is combination of both physical and electronic. The Trump's shutdown will probably slow down things some even if doesn't affect USCIS directly, clearly it does affect other things, like those tax returns, TSA, DHS, etc etc.

Do you already have your certified copies of tax returns or tax transcripts? I'd hate to risk taking copies of returns, w-2s, etc to the embassy only to be denied for such a little thing as the returns not being certified.

    Thanks!

In my opinion this is an abuse of discretion. The earnings for the current year are higher than the threshold. The average of the immediate past three years are higher than the threshold. The average of the four years submitted are higher than the threshold, and they deny this?

    Cosponsor for what?

This is the kind of decision that annoys me knowing very well that consular decisions cannot be appealed.

If they are married, I think they do have the right to appeal.

    NVC RECEIPT

I've been checking here on VJ timelines and I'm seeing a few folks who received their NOA2 around December 27-28th and they show that NVC received their visa apps on January 10th.

Our NOA2 was Jan 2nd. So, I called yesterday but they had not yet received it and gave me the 6 week schpeel.

Anyone here in the August group received NOA2 and had their visa app received by NVC yet?

By the way, for those who may be interested, here is the info provided on the VJ K1 fiance visa flow chart:

Two weeks after you receive the NOA2 you can contact the NVC to see if they have received your approved I-129F. You can contact them at 603 334-0700. Their homepage is here. Welcome to the US Department of State! Things move much faster now

If you call, it will give you an alternative number for non-immigrant visas. Even though fiance visas are technically, non-immigrant, the rep told me that we can call either number.

Can you please complete your profile. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

    Thanks

Thanks for the constant reminders to folks. Perhaps folks at VJ should cause a really annoying popup to appear every time someone tries to post something without first filling in their timeline. LOL

A year for green cards? I’ve never seen an estimate that high. I mean, if she can get her work authorization and advance parole before that, it doesn’t matter so much I guess.

In some cities, it is now taking as long as 3 years. Here in South Florida, I have several friends who are still waiting after 23 months with their work and travel permits taking 5 months or more.

That was my plan. The fact that I am on a west coast makes things challenging. Anyway, after 90 min wait on hold (it took a few tries before I was even able to get into the hold queue, otherwise it would just hangup)  I was told they do not have my case yet and it can be "up to 6 weeks"

Was glad to see handful more approvals today, hopefully there will be some happy news delivered with evening mail as well.

They meant it could take 6 weeks just to receive the application or to also process it? Ugh. I think I read on here that best time to call the NVC is precisely at 7am EST when they open.

Good luck. I hope they ramp up processing quickly for all of us.

I need to vent for a minute, please excuse me.

I find it incredibly frustrating that USCIS very actively discourages you from calling them by professing how you can find all these things online and YET, 2 weeks later my case still haven't been updated on either site. I know I have paper approval, but I also might have mild case of CDO, which is like OCD, but letters are arranged alphabetically you see, and the fact that neither site shows it as approved kinda messes me up. Yes, logically I know this is silly, but I can't help but to keep checking, 2 factors and all, and to feel anxious for this ridiculous reason which should not even be a thing. In the mean time I am still waiting to hear something from NVC, and trying to be a good little citizen and not start calling them to soon.

Ok whew, I feel a bit better, sorry y'all.

That's funny about the CDO/OCD. Wait, instead of the NVC, don't you mean the CNV?  LOL

Seriously though, according to the process timeline guide here on VJ, it says we can call the NVC 2 weeks after NOA2 to check on our case. I looked at your NOA2, and that would put today as 2 weeks for you. Perhaps you should give them a call.

  13. Income and Assets

I was looking at things the Petitioner needs to provide as far as proof of income. I can understand getting a letter from your employer and bank in regards to your employment, salary, etc.. but if someone makes above the limit, do we really need to provide our current checking account balance, numbers of stocks and bonds we have, etc? If someone makes say $100,000 a year with no dependents but only has a few hundred bucks in their bank account, can that be grounds for denial?

Sorry I don't have one for your Embassy. When you get your P3 from your Embassy if you could share with me I'd appreciate it. I like to help out others as you have noticed. Thank you

I think they need to create a Words of Wisdom by Greenbaum section here on Visa Journey. :)

Thanks for all of the help you give to all of us!
