  1. I met my husband online in tagged. I went to the terms of service for the site added it to the evidence as proof the site was not a marriage broker "per attached terms of service" I met my husband two times before submitting our I29f but we have a 13 year age gap that I felt needed the extra time. I even went for his interview but in the end I found all that extra unnecessary. My now husband came in with photos and pages of chat logs. They never asked to see any of it. They asked him about me and my family. It's important you know her very well, that you don't have a criminal record, and above all things no visa shady business in the past. I see people on the thread call Tunis a hard embassy but from our experience and others we went through the process with around the same time ( some having only one 2 week visit) its more about how clean your record is and knowing about your future spouse.

  2. I get the goal but the issue is broader then an open embassy. Case in point my fiance was issued his visa on Jan 23rd. We had his ticket here booked for March 19th to give us both time to prepare and tie up loose ends in his country. His country sealed its boarders on March 17th nothing in and nothing out. He has a visa with a ticking date of expiration that we hope doesn't run out.

With limited mobility to get here and the presidents current impending ban on immigration. Seems a bit of a mute point.

The DS5535 is used at the IO discretion but has become very common over the last few years in the MENA countries. Do

    you know who “stopped “

him in Frankfurt ? I don’t see Frankfurt on the preclearance airport list .. and no one other than CBP gets to look at the packet of documents ..  Not sure you can do anything at this stage except keep on with your plans.

I have no idea who stopped him. I just know he was stopped in Frankfurt and flown back to tunisia and apparently the embassy is reimbursing him for the ticket due to not providing that to him with his visa? Second hand information is always not the best but I couldn't go on without asking the question.

That is so strange, and I'd be alarmed and concerned too!

You may have started doing some digging on here since posting, but I found this thread (started in 2017 and continued in part 2, through now) about this form DS-5535...

Isn't DS-5535 part of AP for people who receive the 221G?

This is so confusing, why would this come up after a visa is issued, and in transit in Germany?

I haven't been able to read too much into those threads yet, but I'm curious to know more about this.

Also, congrats on your approval!! Very exciting!!

Thank you!! I was trying to find something with search but I guess I was doing it wrong lol

It is very concerning as it looks a lot like filling out the questions on a DS 160 all over again.... I don't understand why you would have to do that....

  5. My fiance had his interview at the american embassy in tunisia on the 23rd of January and  received his passport back with the visa on tuesday January 28th. My fiance will not be coming to the us for a few months so we can arrange some things. My fiance made a friend in the interview who also received his K1 visa on this last Tuesday and flew back the same day with his fiancee. He got stopped in Frankfurt and had to return due to not having a ds 5535 form filled out. This is the first time my fiance or I have heard of this. Can someone explain? My fiance didnt get a request for this form do we need to fill this out? Is it country specific of the country you fly through? My fiancee will be coming through france. Any information would be extremely helpful.

  6. My brain is running on empty can someone delete the screen shots? 😞🤦‍♀️ here is the copied text:

  7. @Greenbaum sorry getting back so late rough week haha. So I'm super confused. I think I got P3 as an email? But the email gave us our interview date and what to bring etc. I attached them. I'm confused because is it normal to recieve the interview date before we even paid the embassy fee or done the ds160??? I'm trying to attach the screen shots but the files are too large grrrr

    Congratulations!

6 weeks for it to be received? Or the case number?

Anyone know why k1s are being expedited? How long it's been going and until when? @Greenbaum

    Thanks :)

I asked the first woman "to be recieved?" she said "yes can take up to up to 6 weeks to recieved." This response just didn't set right with me, Which is why I called back tonight. Glad I did.

Not sure if it makes a difference, the first time i called this morning I called the immigrant visa number. Tonight I called the nonimmigrant visa number.

  9. Thank you everyone for the advice . I had to step away from the site for a bit as one can drive themselves crazy reading every possible post while waiting lol I realize not much can be done while waiting for the first approval. I have never believed sugarcoating is a good thing in these situations, one must be realistic with thier expectations. I am very grateful for the responses and will come back for advice as we get farther in the process of course. :)

Hello, it seems that you have a lot of proof by meeting his family and traveling there more then one time. I would highly recommend to be with him at the interview. As the petitioner, I was able to be at the interview in Algeria an answer questions.  It was also helpful to mention that during the AOS interview because is not a usual thing to take that extra step. Note that not all the countries will let you in to join him during the interview though.

Thank you feeling a bit better on the evidence part. :) We will ask when he sets up the interview if I'm allowed to attend.I think I'll go regardless as I miss him so much and I can atleast ride with him there to support him. :)

Don't freak yourself out! Everything will work out and you'll get him here,  just be patient and believe it will be a positive outcome. As others have mentioned, if it came to it, there's always the I-130  route, but cross that road when you get to it. My husband and I got married (actually in Tunisia, but he's Algerian) and we plan to have a (small) wedding once he's here so my parents and family can be apart of that celebration also. I understand the hesitation of being married without your parents present, but you have options! I wouldn't worry about the age difference too much. It is what it is, and maybe they'll bring it up in the interview but as long as your fiance is honest with his intentions and the age not being an issue, it doesn't matter- we can't know how they're going to judge the situation, we can only be honest, that's the only control we have in this process. I think any additional face to face time is always a plus, both for you guys & this visa application. Even though you didn't front load with RapidVisa like you probably would have on your own, that's okay. If they want more proof you'll get a request for evidence, and just send it then! From what I've seen, it doesn't seem like people who get RFE's are stalled too much as long as you respond & provide what they want as quickly as you can. Everything will fall into place.

Thank you so much that really calmed my mind quite a bit! It really wont be the end of the world if the first wedding is in Tunisia. The point is to be together and we all of course want sooner rather than later :) I just need to practice more patience and allow the process to unfold as it will. Thank you again.

  12. We are still waiting for the NOA2 so extremely early in the process. I will have time in January to go back. Would it help if I was there when he interviewed? I already supplied my boarding passes there, both our boarding passes for our small trip to turkey, Hotel receipt. Airbnb receipt. Dont have really any accommodation receipts for my second trip ( other than the above stated istanbul trip) as I stayed with his family...  I have a lot of pictures of us I could have put in but only provided 10 pictures 5 pages 2 per page with description.

We will of course get married regardless. You're right we will have two weddings anyway just the order would change.

  13. HI All,

I've been pouring through these forums and I think I"ve made myself more nervous then when I initially filed. Giving a bit of back story:

I've been talking with my fiance for about 6 years 4 and some change of those as just friends online. We do have an age gap. I'm 14 years older than him. I am 39 he's 25. I'm Christian and he's Muslim.  I've gone on two trips there in the last year and a half 1 for 10 days and the second for almost a month in January. I haven't been able to get back due to using up my vacation time for the larger time trip in January. Is that enough facetime? We talk everyday but from what I"m reading that might not be enough as chat evidence is weak for proof of relationship. I provided many pictures of us with his family ( his mom, brother, aunt, cousins) and friends. I didn't front load like I could have because I used a service and now I"m freaking out we will get to the interview and it's not enough. Our main reason for applying for the K1 and not just doing the wedding in Tunisia and applying for a  CR1 is because I'm my parents only child and I want them at the wedding. They aren't in the best health and couldn't make that kind of trek. I'm just stressing any help would be or advice would great!

  14. We are using rapid visa. I didnt know about this site at the time and thought I needed a lawyer or a website like that anyway...( I do like how the do the forms in an easy questionnaire format much like turbo tax) To answer your question. I sent our finished packet to them on the 18th of July uscis got it on the 25th of july. That said I would not use them for the processes after as the value add was not worth 1200 dollars on top of reading replies I'm now worried instead of having peace of mind. It's true I dont know what our final submittal truly looks like.
