CB and JB got a reaction from Ontarkie in Work pension
It depends on whether you would be emigrating before (or after) you are eligible to draw on your (Canadian) company pension.

In my case, I retired from my Canadian job before I emigrated to the US.  I kept my Canadian bank account and had my pension deposited to that account.  I signed up for the Canadian Snowbird Association Currency Exchange Program (https://www.snowbirds.org/member-benefits/currency-exchange/ ) and made arrangements for my  pension to be converted from Canadian dollars to US dollars on a monthly basis and deposited to my US bank account.

This is my annual reminder for older immigrant couples (like my spouse and I).

Social Security monthly retirement benefits (Age 62+)
     Can be earned:
    1.  Based on immigrant's own work record OR
    2. Based on spouse's work record (must be married for 1 year or more).  This does not affect the SS retirement benefit of the US spouse.  The immigrant is not required to have any SS work credit.  I believe the amount is 50% of spouse's monthly deposit.

    Medicare (non-special qualifications)
    1.  Immigrant must have been a Green Card holder for 5 years.
    2.  Normally, immigrant must be 65 years old.  Immigrant can be entitled to receive FREE Medicare Part A (Example: US Spouse is already receiving SS retirement benefits and US spouse already receives free Medicare Part A).  Immigrant will pay the normal Medicare Part B monthly premiums (currently about $174.00) which is deducted from any monthly Social Security benefit deposit.

In our case, I was not aware of the spousal Social Security benefit, so we applied for wife's Social Security and Medicare at the same time (on the same Social Security form) when she turned 65 years old.  It took Social Security only a few days to approve her SS retirement benefit and to start her Medicare Parts A & B.  Coupled with a good Medicare supplement (ours is Tricare For Life), this provides really good health care coverage.

Today I checked my USCIS account and saw that the Case Status was changed as of January 30, 2023 to:  New Card Is Being Produced.

My service center is MSC and the last status (prior to today) was two years ago  (December 15, 2021:  We are ready to schedule your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, for an interview.)  My husband and I never received a request for an I-751 interview.

P.S. This was without having to make a N-400 application.

CB and JB got a reaction from BChance in Medical Exam - Vaccination Record
I’m from Alberta, too. I called a local Public Health Centre and was able to get pre-1985 immunization records. The records had to be accessed from some archival location, but they were available. I received a faded copy of a handwritten record of immunization shots given to me in the 1960s / 1970s. I had to tell them my maiden name.  Here’s a link to help you find contact info for a local Public Health Centre:

I would be inclined to agree with you.  I went to Commissionaires today and was told that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was adamant that the request be made under the Privacy Act.  According to the link you shared, Privacy Act searches includes searches of pardon records.  The person at Commissionaires also said that the DHS is aware that cannot be certified by the RCMP, but were okay with that.  (I got the impression that certified, "visa/border crossing" type searches might not include searches of pardon records.)

Now, I'm just hoping there's no postal strike.  CUPW workers will be in a legal position to strike on Sept 27th.
