beeti23 got a reaction from laowainelson in I-130 January 2018 Filers
My wife arrived on 2 year CR-1 green card. CR1 is conditional resident based on marriage. We were married before we applied for her green card. The CR1 is only good for 2 years, after that you have to apply to remove the conditions of her greencard - this is I751 form. 2 years was expiring this past August. We applied for removal of conditions in August. Part of the removal of conditions process is going to have biometrics taken. This is the notice we received today. My wife will go on December 8th. It doesn't mean she has been approved yet, but is a necessary step in the process.
I hope this helps answer any questions. If not, please let me know and I will try to answer as best I can.
Below is the application we need to fill out and take to her biometrics appointment in December.

Yes, we received I797 forms last month- allowing my wife to stay in USA until the process is completed. The I797 form is good for 18 months and allows her to work and travel/fly while her case is under review.

Hello Everyone - I am happy to report my wife is in the USA! we arrived from China Friday 8/31/18. She received a modernized visa and as such - did not receive the traditional sealed packet. When we arrived to Chicago airport and went thru immigration - they had everything on the computer - she handed them her passport with Visa attached - and they ensured our home address was correct - for the green card to be sent.
Regarding the emails - I just received another email last night - stating they are still reviewing my case - yet my wife has already received her visa and is in the USA. Safe to say there is an issue with the system right now..

My wife's Visa was approved today in Guangzhou!! Interview was only about 5 minutes. Questions asked were: where we met, who is bringing her to USA. Asked to see wedding photos.
Now we wait 5-7 days for passport to be returned with Visa. And then we fly to USA.

Hello Everyone - I have received my case number and Invoice number from the NVC today! It took almost 2 months from NOA2 - until I received my NVC Case Number and Invoice Number. Just to give you an idea - below is my timeline:
NOA1 - 1/8/18
NOA2 - 4/19/19
NVC Received my papers from USCIS - 5/7/18
I received NVC Case # and Invoice # - 6/13/18
I will continue to update as the process moves forward. I submitted payment of NVC fees. After payment clears (2-3 Days) - I can upload requested documents electronically.

Hello All - another update. I received confirmation of payment received from NVC after 2 days.
My case is being processed at the NVC electronically. I was given NVC case number and invoice number via email. I was also given a link to the CEAC website. It stands for Consular Electronic Application Center. Thru this link - I entered my NVC case number, invoice number and link to pay the fees.
After my payment cleared - I had to scan and upload my documents. Which included Wife's Birth certificate, our Marriage certificate, Her Police report from China, a copy of her Passport Biography page, and passport photos, my 2017 tax report and affidavit of support. All of my wife's documents were in Chinese and certified English translation.
I also had to electronically fill out DS-260 which was basically the same as the original I-130. It was many of the same questions and answers. it took about 10 minutes to fill out online.
Everything has been uploaded and submitted to the NVC. On the website - it states that the NVC will process with the scanned and uploaded copies of the documents - but my wife HAS to bring the original documents to her interview. The consular office in China will NOT accept copies.
I will not have to mail anything to the NVC - my case will be done electronically.
I will update again after approval of documents and next steps from NVC.

Hello All - I filed my petitions for Wife and step daughter in January. I received text and email from USCIS on 1-8-18 - texas service center. On 4-19-18 I received email of case updates. I set up new account on new USCIS website and it states my case has been approved! In a little over 3 months. Has anyone else who filed in January received such confirmation? I should receive a letter in the mail by May 18 about next steps for NVC.
