  1. Here to report the same issues with the SSN process. Still waiting. Checked the box to apply with the visa application and saw on paperwork that SS card would arrive in 3 weeks. Went to the office no record of any application. They sent one on our behalf which is still pending with Department of Homeland Security. Seems to be the luck of the draw for those who got their card no issues. For us it has been a nightmare since my husband got here. They wouldn't accept his passport because the wonderful CBP who stamped my husband in at POE didn't make the stamp visible. Had to drive to another airport closer to me to get it corrected.

  2. So my husband had his interview yesterday and got a 221g for needing the sponsors W2. My sister is his sponsor she works abroad,  doesn't receive W2 and hasn't filed 2018 taxes yet. Does anyone know what they will accept in place of not having W2s and tax transcripts for 2018? I submitted tax records for all other years as well as her employment offer letter. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated while I wait on an email from the embassy at Santo Domingo.

It has changed now...they are requiring tax transcripts not returns.....if you would had the transcripts they wouldn't be requesting the w2..the w2s have the same information on the tax transcripts. request both just in case. U also need 2018 because that is the most recent year. if not then u might need to find another sponsor if your sister doesnt have it or explain ur circumstance and see will the embassy accept that

Thank you. I appreciate that. That's what I was going to do. She hasn't filed yet for 2018. So that's a whole other situation.

No problem, we all try to help each other here as it is a DIY site. The relationship between NVC and USEM is that USEM has the final say (regardless of what you provided NVC). Since it's at the USEM now you'll have to deal with them. Try the best way you can to seek clarification from the USEM.

Thank you friend. I will do that. I called the number on the 221G and they said they have to email USEM takes 24-48 hours for a response. I just didn't want to wait that long if I can provide what I think they need now I will. Just didn't know if someone knew or had experience with it.

You'll need your sister's tax transcripts too, and that would have solved the W2 issues for her. Tax transcripts supersede tax returns/w2 and that's best in NVC/USEM situations.

so you really don't think they would still ask for a W2? Because that was something they specifically RFE'd me for at NVC stage. Is it different now that it's at Embassy? I'm confused. Thanks for your help. I'm on hold with NVC just seeing if they can offer insight or something.

i provided my transcripts and my sister could only give me her tax return pdf at the time. i didn't wait for her to go online to get her tax transcripts because I thought the returns would do just as well as the transcripts. sorry to not have been more clearer. we are joint sponsors to my husband.

I  am going to quote this "If you are a U.S. citizen or resident alien, the rules for filing income, estate, and gift tax returns and paying estimated tax are generally the same whether you are in the United States or abroad. Your worldwide income is subject to U.S. income tax, regardless of where you reside". I found this on IRS website.

Yes I know but they want W2s for a company that doesn't give W2s because they are subject to witholding American taxes.

If you had initially sent tax transcripts from IRS you wouldn't have needed a W2. So check with them if they will accept tax transcripts from IRS.

They still asked for my W2s with my tax transcripts

  8. Ugh ok...so here's the deal...our joint sponsor is my sister who lives abroad but still has US domicile...works abroad...in Dubai. They asked for her W2s but she doesn't get them being that she's working abroad. I'm looking for information now on what they will accept instead of W2s. I already submitted her offer letter of employment and 3 years of tax returns not including 2018 because she didn't file. So it's in AP until we submit what they need.

If you are talking about the photos of the proof of relationship with your husband where you both and family are in the photos together, it would be good to show color photographs, but it's not an absolute necessity.

For this, People have put multiple photos in word documents and taken color print outs on regular paper or some people have taken their entire photo albums.

Ok thank you. Much appreciated my friend.

    Interview-05/09/19

he got his visa on 05/17/19

note: when we when to the interview the co didn’t receive the medical exam and because of that we had to wait a little longer than usual to get the passport with the visa. But usually in DR most people get it in between 3 or 5 business days.

How long did you have the medical exam before your interview?
