    I applied for i765 & i485 in Dec 2022

Sent in expedite request in February 2023 (received the receipt notice in February)

Expedite request approved in April 2023

Card is being produced May 2023.

I’m still waiting for VAWA approval. 3yrs and counting. And the processing time just went up again 😔
Thank you guys so much for your encouragement when I was really down. You have no idea how much it helped me. God bless you.

We've reached the end of our journey. April 10th 3 hours after the green card interview they updated our status to new card ordered. 11 years of pain, uncertainty finally over
We came to the states in 2012 and the initial marriage based gc fell through 2-3 years in because the other individual turned abusive and abandoned the case. We were undocumented for a while with no hopes till our lawyer informed us about vawa and in 2018 we applied. Thank you to everyone here that took the time to answer some of the questions/concerns ive had throughout the entire process. Wishing anyone still going through this the best of luck it'll be over soon.

OMG!! Such disappointing response from her but don’t worry. You got this. My initial VAWA application was denied with an attorney. I didn’t give up a filed on my own and got the green card myself. It took 5 years!!
I’m glad you’re getting all the support you need here. I’m confident that you’ll celebrate in the end. I sincerely wish you success. You’ll be victorious.

What you can do now is just to wait and keep praying.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18— 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

According to the USCIS perspective, you were legally married because you got a visitor Visa by writing that you were married meanwhile you were not.
On your i-485, you still persist by marking that you had been married two times.
You can not really convince USCIS that you were ignorant because you could have asked for legal help before filing.
So, you have to now convince them that it was not a legal marriage according to the USA foreign Law policy with about two or three affidavits of relatives explaining the same thing.
Correcting the error on your form because you have have been married once not twice.
Maybe you can ask for an infopass to correct that error on your form i-485 or during the interview if scheduled.

If I understood correctly, in your visit visa application you said you were married? And at the time you were not? No wonder USCIS want to see divorce from that "marriage". The next logical thing, if you cannot provide divorce for first marriage, you will be accused of fraud and misrepresentation.

After I emailed her about that the reason why my i601 was returned because she didn’t include the rfe in it and didn’t include it in the package to the local office, she responded like this “We do not include an RFE notice when filing an I-601. Would you like to find another attorney to represent you? You seem convinced that this is our mistake. If your trust in my work or my office is broken, I cannot continue representing you"

Please remain calm and make sure you're not overly emotional in your email communication. Do you have copies of everything submitted? If not, try getting everything ASAP for your records.

You can also gently remind them that you can file a bar complaint in case if the issue is not fixed for free or the fees are not refunded to you.

    That's so sad.
The first error was done by the lawyer.
After vawa approval, the form I-601 had to be submitted but to your local office for they were those dealing with your form I-485 or even to NBC.
But you can still tackle the denial with a letter of explanation and the proofs that it was sent, but to Vermont with their response joined.
Experimented members on this thread will tell you exactly what to do.
Just follow and you surely get a better end.
    Do not loose hope.

You should be fine. It takes around 5-6 days for them to produce the card. I guess you will see "Card was produced" and then "Card was picked up by USPS" (you will find the tracking number there) in the next few days. And finally "card was delivered".

After staying in an abusive marriage for two years,I came back home one day and discovered that my wife has left with everything in the house and relocated to another state.this was when we already had a date for my immigration interview.it was like the end of the world to me and I was in total darkness as all evidence and hopes gone with impossibility in my sight.my work permit expired after some months and things were so hard.i held on tightly to God with fervent prayers day-in,day-out.i presented my case to lawyers and I was told,I can't win VAWA as I can't present evidence without proof.i started the VAWA process by myself without the help of any attorney.prima facie was given at the beginning and after two years,I was given letter to provide more evidence.i wrote them again with the little to nothing evidence but God took the glory and December 2022,my VAWA was approved.dont give up,settle your case in the spiritual realm by prayer and You will experience victory in the physical.

    Thank you God 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank  you to this incredible forum with precious information and for everyone who post here everyday
i hope this year can be fully of good news for everyone.

    Time line
**March 2018 - filed vawa and ask the USCIS to hold the I485.
Since 2018 they never took any action on my case ‘always renewing prima facie and work permit’. I sent a lot inquires from congressman to USCIS and they always saying ‘background check’.
**July2022- I fired the lawyer who filed my case and hired a new one. The new lawyer was doing everything to make uscis take action on my case and that didn’t make any difference to USCIS …always saying background check.
My new lawyer recommended that I hire another lawyer to sue USCIS ‘MANDAMUS’.
**September19/2022 - I hire a lawyer to sue the USCIS and that cost me $5k and the amazing and competent lawyer assured me that my case would be approved based on my evidences against my abuser.
    **November01/2022  - vawa approved.
    **December14/2022 - RFE i693
    **January17/2023 - I sent the I693
**January26/2023 - i485 we ordered your new card
    **January27/2023 - I485 APPROVED
**February01/2023 - they mailed the green card and USPS pick up the mail containing my new card
**February04/2023 - the USPS delivered MY GREEN CARD 😭🙏🙏🙏

THANK YOU THANK YOU everyone finally my journey is completed so far 🙏🙏🙏🙏

DONT GIVE UP, I hope everyone who is passing thru this long and stressful process can enjoy from this glory 🙏🙏🙏

@Ozy7 let me give you some light!
im in this country since 2013 I came with tourist visa and was ILLEGAL for almost 5years and then I got married .
my mother tried to get the visa 4x and they always denied her probably cause I was illegal in this country and then when I got married and sent my documentation to USCIS to legalize they denied her again and again …total was 6 times.
soon when I got my combo card the first thing I DID was book a flight to my country whiteout thinking about anything else!
I was there when the pandemic started January2020 and came back on March2020 when all the borders was closed for tourist coming from my country …and guess what they only asked me couple questions they ask me to go to a private room and they checked on the computer and let me go in last then 30min ….
DO NOT GET AFFRAID do not let your emotional and thoughts about what can happens from you to enjoy what the USCIS gave to you … you have legally the permit to go out of this country anywhere you wanna go to ….they gave to you that right to leave and come back …
my vawa was approved only on Nov2022…before that I was traveling everywhere “7 countries “ just with the combo card !
also my green card was approved in Jan2023.
For me was almost 5 years waiting for the green card GOD NEVER SLEEP HES WATCHING US .
I’ve never ask for asylum and never being in removed process.

After more than 7 years, my 485 status changed to new card being produced. Went through 2 interviews with 3 interview cancellations, 3 RFEs, denial, MTR, 7-8 EADs.
My case history is way too long but here’s a summary of recent events: Case moved to nbc earlier this year, they issued RFE in August 2022 for BC. Then case moved to field office, medical RFE was issued in mid October. I didn’t receive the rfe notice, luckily my attorney received a copy in November. Responded in November, then waited 2.5 months for a decision.
After being traumatized in life for so long, it feels unreal, and I still keep thinking about what’s going to go wrong again. Fear has become my second nature. Missed out on the most important 5 years of my life. I can have some peace now and go see my parents, although I still feel stressed about international travel. I thank you all and this community for being there for each other, I’ve spent years reading your posts and comments.
