My package was delivered 07/06 and money was charged and I received text messages with receipt numbers today 07/09. However I only got texts for i-485, i-130, and i-131 but none for i-765. Should I be worried or just wait for the mail?

Congratulations for those who applied already!
I have everything ready but the Marriage Certificate which is dragging a lot in NYC, 3 weeks and still nothing.

Getting the Marriage Cert in NYC is a liiiil bit of nerve wrecking. But hang on tight! I'm sure your MC will be sent soon. Be faithful and a lil more often of pushing to the city clerk I guess ?

    Best of luck! ❤❤

    @MJ&YY

That is correct whether it is called a marriage license or certificate depends on your state or county.

What’s the difference between a Marriage License and a Marriage Certificate?

A marriage license is obtained from your county/local courthouse and shows that you are legally eligible to marry. It must be signed by the person who marries you as well as by a specified number of witnesses. The person who marries you typically files it with your county after your wedding/marriage.

A marriage certificate is a record proving you were married at a specific time and location. The person who conducts the marriage signs the document verifying that she married you in accordance with local law, with a witness, and a marriage license. You sign the marriage certificate after you are married and your officiant mails it to you afterward. It usually arrives 2-4 weeks after your marriage.

You would submit a marriage certificate with the I-485. :)

    Cool. Thank u so much

The terminology is pretty interchangeable.  The i-485 instructions request the marriage certificate.  That document is generally the stamped/certified copy of the marriage license that was recorded by the county following marriage (for which you need to submit a photocopy).

Thank you so much. Have a good night

    Thank you for the explanation

That's  not  actually  correct. After you get married and before you file your AOS you fill out all the forms with the name you intend to use as you have the marriage  license to back up the change in name. USCIS will be able to tell because of the marriage license is the authority for your name change. Be sure to do it in the beginning of the AOS. It is important that when you fill out the forms you use the name you intend to use as your legal name as long as that change is backed up with the marriage license.

Sorry Sir, is it marriage license or marriage certificate that required to be sent along with the I-485 form ?

  7. Hi guys.. we most likely gonna use money order from USPS to pay for my I-485 and combo cards. On USPS money order, there's a part that says "FROM" (yellow circle on the picture). So, should I put my name or my US citizen husband's name ?

Cause it's gonna be his money anyway.

Please help me out with this. I don't wanna get in trouble just because I put the wrong name.

    Thanks in advance. Xoxo
