Am not trying to be condescending
I am trying to be clear BECAUSE of the complexity of the process
Too many times we have had people come on here panicking for no good reason because of misinformation
I can sit back and let the misinformation slide but I am trying to emphasize some points so people don't feel unnecessarily stressed on issues that are not meant to cause stress.
Saying People's EADs are delayed because of their local office is simply incorrect. Short and simple
Local office has absolutely nothing to do with it.
I was in Houston for while that is barely processing April 2017 files and did my bio metrics just fine along with people from faster offices.
and some folks in the Houston office already their EADs but have quite a while to go to get GC.
Someone might come on here tomorrow and read that and freak out. Am trying to make sure that people know what is what.
EAD is NBC-- that's an average of 4-6 months for everybody
AOS is local office- that's all over the place

Hoping the AP comes with it and it arrives quickly!

WOG got a reaction from Michelle M in New York AOS 2018 Filers
hi! i've been looking for a NYer only thread - been stalking the July AOS thread. Waiting on the EAD/AP (applied for SS# w/ EAD) for my better half. Our timeline is Nov 23 - Dec 4th - hoping the EAD/AP timings continue there recent trend of shorter wait times!!

NYC based - just checked status online and are at ready to schedule interview for AOS. EAD and AP still just show case received.
July 27th notice date for original submission of documents, plus had an RFE in August (for a birth certificate that we already included).
hopefully this is a good sign? Should i get overly excited about possibly of EAD & AP before end of November? Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks!

There's no time for anything--
Most GC applications are approved within a week of interview. You get the card max 3 weeks from interview (assuming you are approved)
if they issue u an RFE at the interview, then that timeline certainly changes
for the EAD/AP - just like with anything else in immigration, nothing is guaranteed to update on website/app
If you are approved, everything will come via letter. So a letter in the mail is the sure way to know what's ur case status with immigration

WOG got a reaction from FlashLG in ready to go - AOS package
This make sense - thank you so much - wasn't thinking of it this way.
So can i apply for the SS now? Arrival in the US is on the 18th of June, Wedding on the 22nd? It appears you would not be able to as need to be in the country (only other option looks like through I-765 form)
Additionally - on the I-765 form, if applying separately, I'm assuming you would mark 10 as No? (and then accordingly skip question 11-13)?
I'm assuming the SSA would come quickly and benefits would include the items mentioned above - healthcare, bank accounts, etc?
Thank you both for the input and thoughts - incredibly valuable!!!
