    Hello everyone,

We are new to all of this so just looking for some solid advice about where to get started.

I am in USA, and my other half is in Egypt.  We are not married yet.

If we want to live in the states, which visa route might be the easiest/quickest?  The K-1 fiance visa, or a CR-1 spouse visa?

I'm sure there are ups and downs to both sides, just interested to know what those might be and what your experienes or opinions are!

    Thank you!

    Hello

We just went through this process in Egypt and we used the K-1 visa approach. This was recommended by our lawyer as it is quicker and for our situation better as I wanted to get married in the US. Hope this helps. We are thankfully enjoying our lives together now. 😊

    Hey guys,

totally failed to share experience since I was so excited 🙈

I got my NVC number on Aug 17, did my medical on Aug 29 and picked them up on 30th. The docs were sent off to the embassy on Sep 4th and my CEAC status was “Ready” on the 7th. Scheduled my interview right away for Sep 11th and had visa in hands on 13th!!! Took me 6 days in total from docs arriving.

flying out on Wednesday! Thanks to all the support and advice from got on this forum, wouldn’t have been the same without you guys ❤️

Will be back with AOS soon 😅

    Congrats!!!

  3. Hi all

My Fiancées interview is on Sept 23. I am getting mixed advice/commentary on whether I should attend the interview or not. It is in Egypt and I was told it is not required and the chances are still good for him if I don’t attend. Then I keep reading on this forum it does help. I’m concerned because of finances and work if I’m able to go. If I don’t go, do I hurt our chances?

I really want to go but have to make a wise decision financially and work wise. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

So I had my interview last Tuesday. I was missing my family register. The CO gave me my passport back and a white form with a check on the missing document.

I immediately got the family register and sent it on the same day along with my passport via Aramex.

Now my status on CEAC changed to Administrative Processing.

I need to know if anyone had a similar experience before. How long will it take? Is it going to take the same as the regular AP? I was only missing one document which I wasn't even informed of.

Also, my fiance is doing a surgery next month and I need to be with him. I have a valid B2 visa. Am I able to retrieve my passport and visit him using it? Or Will the whole procedure be called off?

    Thank you.

Can you clarify what a family registry is? Like you said that was never a requirement on the list and we also are going through the cairo embassy for the K-1 visa. We would just like to be ready. Thank you so much!

  5. Dear all

I was hoping someone who has gone through the K-1 interview in Cairo can give their experience the day of? Mostly wondering what were the questions like? How were you treated? Good news or bad news? Anything would help. We have our interview in a couple of weeks and are looking for some encouragement.

    Thank you!

Hello to all the file cabinets of December. They are 206 days of wait to obtain a NoA2 and I start starting hairs. Someone mas that this almost in the same days to the wait. Do I need emotional support????

Hang in there. It will happen; do yourself a favor and don’t count the days. I know it’s hard but that will drive you crazy. Take it one day at a time, breathe and keep yourself busy. This should help with the wait

I'm glad you're finding something that you can do to take some of the stress off. I am redecorating my living room and bedroom. :D My fiance is coming from Africa so I'm trying to add in some elements that will make him feel more at home. I also joined a golf league that gets me out once or twice a week and keeps my mind off of things. I'm only a Dec. 18th NOA1 but now that I see those on and after my date being approved the anxiety has definitely kicked up a notch. My heart truly breaks for those that have been waiting so much longer than myself with no explanation as to why. I can only pray that the approval process speeds up for everyone.

Nurturing our relationship looks a little different... Network connection has never been good enough to facetime and for some reason the call quality and reliability has been very poor the last several months and because of this our communication hasn't been great which has been extra difficult. We mostly text lately and try to send encouraging thoughts, but it is hard to grow a relationship when that is your main way of communication. It makes me that much more excited to when we will finally be able to be with each other again!!

I knew I wasn't signing up for the easy path to love when I started dating a Ugandan, but even through the challenges and difficulties of the distance I know in the end we will be so happy when we are finally together! We will get there and it will be worth the wait!!!

I totally understand you; not always feasible to have video chat. Hang in there, trying to keep myself busy with work and activities. Praying we all hear something soon 🙏😊

    We finally got approved!!!!!

December 8th filer. both the apps are still showing up as case received, I received an email notification from the new site at 6am EST stating that  an action was taken on my case. It shows that I was approved yesterday on the 27th. Funny thing about that is I was on the new website around 11pm last night and it still showed up as received.

Its a good thing i signed up for the email notification, this all feels like a dream to me :) I highly recommend checking the new site on a daily basis, don't rely to much on the mobile apps.

Good luck to everyone! Thank you all for all the encouraging words.

    Congrats! So happy for you!
