Did you check the back of the card? Often (well for us) the middle name is just an initial on the front but the full name is on the back. I have always put full names as they are printed in full on the backs of our green cards. ( I understand that there is a character limit and sometimes the name on the back is not full either, but that wasn't the case for any of my family).

The back of the card has all 4 names but missing a letter in the middle name.

    "Mason>Jones<<Joe<Harr"

So do you put what's on the front of the card or the front? : /

  2. Hey Guys,

I'm having trouble with this question: What is your name exactly as it appears on your Permanent Resident Card?

There is a discrepancy in how the N-400 fields are formatted and how the green card is formatted.

This is what the legal name should be:

    Given Name (first name): "Joe"

    Middle Name: "Harry"

Family Name (last name): "Mason Jones"

    But the green card says:

    Surname: "Mason Jones"

    Given Name "Joe H"

The N-400 is asking "What is your name exactly as it appears on your Permanent Resident Card?" with fields for Given Name, Middle Name and Family name and I'm not sure what to put.

Generally, incomplete forms are rejected and the fee is returned.

    From the N-400 instructions:

"Any application that is not completed in accordance with these Instructions, is missing pages, or otherwise not executed in its entirety, or is not accompanied by the required initial evidence, may be rejected.
If your Form N-400 is rejected, the application and any fees will be returned to you and you will be notified why the application is considered deficient. You may correct the deficiency and resubmit Form N-400. An application is not considered properly filed until accepted by USCIS.
Once USCIS accepts your application, we will check it for completeness. If you do not completely fill out this application, you will not establish a basis for your eligibility and USCIS may reject or deny your application."

    Did USCIS accept your submission?

Yea they did and we already did our bio metric appointment.

Which form are you talking about?

The N-400. You can download a "snapshot" which is a PDF version of the online form you filled out. I don't remember seeing this section when I was doing the online application.

I'm not sure if I should fill out the missing section and submit it as an additional document or send a letter to USCIS.

  5. I was looking over the snapshot I downloaded of my application that I submitted in June and there are a lot of questions with unchecked answers in part 12 after question 9 where you have to name the clubs you were a part of. I don't remember seeing questions 10-21 and they are blank in my snapshot. However, answers start up again at question 22. Did I somehow miss this in the online application or do others have this problem with their snapshot?

Filed online June 5th (wow have things improved on the USCIS website since I applied for the Green Card). Scheduled for biometrics 7/5/19 but did a successful walk-in 6/21/19 (literally took 5 minutes). They actually said they were glad I did the walk-in as they said they had "350 appointments" for July 5th.

Received confirmation of biometrics processing, now the long wait until Interview and Oath commences.

I also can no longer remember to change my signature here.

So you just walked in without contacting the center before hand?

    4) On the next page, scroll down to the Citizenship Section and enter your local CIS office nearest you, your N-400 filing date and your NOA date. You can add your biometric, interview date etc. whenever you get it. Last hit Save!
