    Hi VJers,

i just want to share that me and my husband is moving from Guam to Texas by end of this Month. We are currently outside the US for a 3 week vacation before starting a new chapter of our life in Texas.

His Green Card expired March 29 but we have the extension letter on hand.

Last week, i have already filed online the change of address for both USCIS and USPS (for all incoming mails to be sent to the new address). USCIS sent us an email stating that address changed has been successfully submitted and should expect a reply on the 13th.

Am I missing any step or do I need to be worried about anything?

This has to be mailed in.

All along I’ve been thinking the I-751 was just a formality but after reading the “megathread” showing a literal mountain of evidence I’m suddenly feeling underprepared.

Just to give a little history, the process so far has been very easy for us.  We are a same-sex couple that lived together outside the U.S for 12 years before we had the option to get married and return to the U.S.  Proving a bonifide relationship was easy.  In our photos together you could witness my hair turning from brown to gray!  During our interview for the K-1 visa they didn’t ask a single question and didn’t ask for a single supporting document.  The adjustment of status was super easy and required no interview.  I’ve been thinking all along that the removal of conditions would be the same.

I guess it’s better to be safe than sorry but I’m still inclined to go easy on the supporting documents for the ROC.  An I being to casual about this?

You still have over a month before you can file for the removal, right? Just gather all the paperwork it tells you to send. Your attitude doesn't really do much.

It's too early to know if this is some kind of unexpected manpower crunch or part of a unofficial policy shift to lower legal immigration that will continue to cause further delays. If you are in DC then I would be less concerned because the Vermont office doesn't seem to be as bad.

This is a good reference in the sense that one can no longer claim the expired card plus the extension letter suffice I-9. You'd at least need a valid driver's license as a List B evidence.

The I-551 stamp part is vaguely described though. It is not clear if it would serve as a List A or List C document.

The Stamp seems pretty clearly explained in chapter 13 as type A. It's just not easy to get an appointment if you find out you need it. The office in our city hasn't had any appointments available for booking all week and the next city over doesn't have an opening for a couple weeks.

    1. Foreign passport that contains a temporary I-551 stamp or temporary I-551 printed notation on a machine-readable immigrant visa (MRIV)

  4. It's in chapter 7.1 of the Handbook for Employers M-274. However, you must be able to also provide a type B document like a Driver's License or ID card as the Extension letter turns your green card into a type C Document.

    https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/71-lawful-permanent-residents-lpr

    Key sections:

Employees must be allowed to choose which document(s) they will present from the Lists of Acceptable Documents. You cannot specify which document(s) an employee must present. Employees who attest to being an LPR in Section 1 may choose to present a List A document (such as a Permanent Resident Card, Form I-551) or a List B and List C document combination (such as a state-issued driver’s license and unrestricted Social Security card). If the employee presents a List A document, do not ask or require the employee to present List B and List C documents. If an employee presents List B and List C documents, do not ask or require the employee to present a List A document.

    • The combination of an expired Permanent Resident Card and a Form I-797, Notice of Action, that indicates that the card is valid for an additional year, is an acceptable List C evidence of employment authorization for one year as indicated on Form I-797. At the end of the one-year period, you must reverify.

So to update everybody, I was able to get the 551 stamp today at the USCIS office.

They only asked for my I-751 NOA letter and a valid passport. I did have an appointment for today, not sure if that matters or if they treat people with no appointment as same, but I would say I got the stamp done easily without any hassles or fuss. They did not keep my expired GC, in fact did not even look at it.

Stupid question but the stamp went in the passport of your home country, correct?

I got the same email instantly but I have not received anything in the mail confirming the change. I mailed in the sponsors change of address form about a week after I sent in the AR11 and already got a reply in the mail but the sponsor change of address doesn't go to the CVC.

Hello, I already did the online AR11 to change my address. One in which I included my receipt # and another one in which I just upgraded my address. Did I have to do two of them? One for my pending I751 and another just to change address. And another question. Does my husband have to do the same form. He is the US citizen and he is in the pending case as well, so he has the old address. Thanks for your help.

We're in the same boat. I filed the AR11 about 3 weeks ago and have only received the email confirmation.  If your husband is also your financial sponsor than he needs to fill this out and mail it: https://www.uscis.gov/i-865

I tried to search here, the form instructions and the USCIS form filing tips page specifically doesnt mention single/double sided printing at all.  Has anyone gotten an RFE due to 2x sided printing?

They could be scanning a digital record of everything you have and they might not easily be able to scan double sided paperwork. It's also just more of a pain to navigate through. What's the problem with printing single sided? You just end up using a bigger box to ship all of your information. We printed a 60 page housing contract and other long documents.

Seems a little low on the financial co-mingling evidence - marriage certificate, ssn numbers and pictures don't really count for anything. You'll find out if the the processing officer is happy with your docs, but I would mentally prepare myself for a RFE and collect joint tax returns at the very least.

Buying a house together is the mother of all financial co-mingling. That along with having a kid and I think they'll be fine. Kids and houses are the holy grail.

Hi guys, thanks for sharing. I am in the middle of deciding which materials to include in the package and how to display them clearly.

My question is: will you guys print DOUBLE SIDED to make the material a little thinner? I prefer to do double sided printing, but I am afraid that the some contents at the back side might be missed.

Any ideas? Thank you guys in advance.

    Absolutely do single sided printing.

I just sent my package through usps priority mail. Expected delivery is on Saturday. Is there any chance it will be delivered earlier than the expected delivery date? Just a random question.

Also, I didn't use personal check. It's cashier check from our bank. So I won't know if they cashed it. Have to inquire the bank. But hoping no problems and the process will go smoothly.

It's very possible it's delivered a day early with USPS since it's going to a PO Box. Ours was.
