  1. Entering the country on a visitor visa (temporary stay visa) with the intent to stay and adjust status is FRAUD. CR-1 is the way to go if you would like to reside in the US as a resident. It does take time and unfortunately there is no way around it.
  2. Keeping her maiden name will save you a lot of headache down the road. It is simple and you do not have to deal with new documents and answering questions about all other names used in the past. Once she naturalizes it will become much easier as you would not have to deal with the USCIS.
  3. I am filing I-130 and I-485 concurrently for my mother who is in the US. Do I need pictures for I-130? Instructions only address the spouse and asks for pictures but not other relatives. My question: Do I need pictures of myself and my mother for I-130? I know I-485 requires principal applicant pictures. Thanks!
  4. If I were you I would get them as soon as possible and forget about it. They will thank you for doing it at some point in the future. In fact, I am filling out I-130 for my relative and when I answer that I naturalized it asks for the naturalization certificate number. I know it is expensive and I know you have to jump through hoops but if it does not break your bank do it.
  5. Dude, you can't give up. Gotta keep fighting until you win!
  6. I am getting ready to file I-130 and I-485 for my mother who is in the US. Is there advantages of filing I-130 online and once I get I-797 then file I-485 based on that VS mailing all the forms together? I would appreciate if someone can share their experience who went through either of the above ways.
  7. They in the US but only one will stay. They are aware of the restrictions and rules. I will also request advance parole just in case if emergency travel is needed. Those usually come between 3-6 month of application submission.
  8. Yep. I plan on filing 130, 485, 765, 131 and 864. Aware of the medical. I just wanted to know if there is a very detailed post to ensure I don't miss any details. I did my original CG application myself but that was some 6 years ago.
  9. Hi folks, I am sure there is a post about this somewhere lingering on this forum about this topic. I am looking for a post where someone has detailed AOS from B1/B2 for parents and has all the checklist docs as well as steps. I have the USCIS resource page on I-485 with instructions and am familiar with it. I would appreciate if anyone can point me to the above mentioned post. - I know insurance is expensive and have means to pay for it - circumstances changed as we need a caregiver for our newborn and job changed caused us to lose parental leave thanks ahead of time.
  10. That is awesome to hear. I am in a similar situation where my relative has been an authorized user for a while and if they decide to immigrate it will help them. Thanks for sharing!
  11. A lot of credit cards let you issue cards for authorized users without the SSN. If one does this and the authorized user in the future ( say in a year or two) immigrates to the US, obtains SSN, links SSN to the existing cards will then their credit report go back retroactively? Sorry if this has been asked before.
  12. Sorry to hear it is not going well. I went through a divorce and removed conditions based on good faith marriage. It happens a lot. Your evidence looks pretty good to me. The list looks like what I had pretty much 1 to 1. I hired a good lawyer who filed this for me and got approved without an interview. I think in your case since you did not have one during AOS there is a good chance you will be called in but who knows. It took me 28 months so brace yourself for the long wait.
  13. Tourism bring insane amount of money in. US is a superpower where the world's rich want to vacation and take pictures. If I remember it right from my previous research the annual number from tourism was in low hundred billions. To put that in perspective my home country's annual budget is roughly 25-30bn...
  14. I have not yet filed anything. I have a married sibling who is over 21. Wanted to know the current situation and wait times. I will be filing in January
  15. Hi all, I would be grateful if any experienced member could answer how long is the current wait for F-4 visa? I see Visa Bulletin showing 2007 for countries other than China. India, Mexico, and Philippines. Is this correct? Has there been any improvement in visa availability in general regarding F-4 in recent years?
  16. Most certainly not. I feel like the USCIS affairs shaved off a few years of my life due to pure stress and long delays.
  17. This. Fly back, make sure the application is still pending. Get your 797 and bring it to her. You may be overthinking this.
  18. 1k. I hired this attorney for my I-751 as well. Only reason I opted for help with N400 was my prior divorce and a traffic ticket on record. I could have easily done it myself but chose that 1K was worth my peace of mind. Attending the interview was an additional $500. This was optional.
  19. - Mailed 5/26 - NOA 6/2 - Interview was scheduled update 8/20 - Interview scheduled for 9/27 - Same day oath 9/27 Evidence submitted: Copy of GC, cooy of current marriage certificate, copy of previous divorce, copy of my disclosed traffic violation and payment, copy of selective services card. Arrived at 8:20 for 8:35 interview. Check in took 10 mins. Was valled in around 8:45. IO was super friendly. Got 6/6 civics part and moved to reading and writing a sentence. Then Yes and No questions. My attorney asked the IO to update my recent travel dates. IO said everything looked good and asked if I planned to travel in the next few weeks. He informed me that of I agreed to the same day oath my GC was going to be taken away and that I'd need to wait weeks for my passport. I took the same day oath 30 mins after my interview. Oath took 30 mins or so. Received my Naturalization Certificate immediately and left 🇺🇸 Total timeline 4 months from mailing the docs to naturalizing. Good luck to all!
  20. The fee which is payable to the "U.S. Department of State" need to be a total of all fees (expedites plus passport book) in one lump sum correct? I understand that the USPS fee I can pay with my CC at the time of appt.
