  1. Delivered on 1/22. Credit card charged on 1/24. NOAs received on 1/30. We did a concurrent filing for AOS along with I-130. Good luck to all.
  2. We sent my mother's medical with all the other forms. I know some people wait for the RFE and send it after. USCIS likes seeing a recent doctor's signature but I also think that I-693 validity is now extended to two years. I would personally send it and if they ask you to resend then do so when requested. If you receive no RFEs then you will not waste a month or two getting and replying to RFEs. Medical examination is most certainly mandatory so based on what I wrote above you will have to submit it now or later.
  3. That is kind of odd but happens. I had some declined transactions early on but nothing in recent years.
  4. If you are referring to the platinum card they are a little strange/weird. Especially if you are a new user. Since it is a charge card without a credit limit the algorithm learns your spend habits early in card ownership. Once it is established usually there are no issues. Of course there is always a risk that CC will be declined at any given time..
  5. What would be the advantage of doing this vs ignoring? OP is not a citizen and received the form in error. We all know that the government is not very good with such things and mistakes like this one happen far too often. Once when I was on F-1 student visa I was called up for jury duty. Unlike jury duty this form does not require a response so I personally would disregard it. OP will never know why he received the letter and chances are that someone has the wrong info in the system and OP has nothing to worry about.
  6. Great info here! I read a lot about payment methods, declined CCs and such stories everywhere including VJ and Reddit. I found out that Amex cards are rather safe options. I used it a week ago and it went through no problem. This may be helpful to some.
  7. Once married you will file I-130 and I-485 BECAUSE your partner is already in the US. All other visas you mentioned are for those who are currently outside. This is very important. Filing I-130 and I-485 at once is called "concurrent filing". I suggest you research this term and information about it. Make sure to also file I-765 and I-131 along with I-130 and I-485. They are free. Fees are likely going up beginning March so if you are thinking about it doing so soon would save you a few thousand dollars.
  8. That blows.. I appreciate you checking this info. Hopefully EAD comes soon. We checked off the SSN box there.
  9. I have my own DL appt in the coming days and once I arrive I will ask there. I will update this post about what I learn. we have a plan B but obviously it would be convenient if she could drive. Not a necessity by any means. Hopefully we get lucky with the EAD timeline.
  10. My mother who arrived on a B2 visa is adjusting status via concurrent filing. She never overstayed or violated the terms of her visa. Due to changes in circumstances related to our work we need a caregiver now and she decided to stay. We filed concurrently a few days ago and the credit card was charged. I am assuming we will get I-797s any day now. We would like her to be able to drive in case emergencies arise while she cares for the newborn. We filed I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-864 and the medical I-693 all at once.
  11. I saw that but did not know what to make of it. I recently read that someone got it with just I-797 and was wondering of other's experience in NC in particular.
  12. Hi all, sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with trying to obtain a DL with I-797 (NOA) in North Carolina? Thanks in advance!
  13. Entering the country on a visitor visa (temporary stay visa) with the intent to stay and adjust status is FRAUD. CR-1 is the way to go if you would like to reside in the US as a resident. It does take time and unfortunately there is no way around it.
  14. Keeping her maiden name will save you a lot of headache down the road. It is simple and you do not have to deal with new documents and answering questions about all other names used in the past. Once she naturalizes it will become much easier as you would not have to deal with the USCIS.
  15. Thanks! I got the other part covered with the birth certificate.
  16. I am filing I-130 and I-485 concurrently for my mother who is in the US. Do I need pictures for I-130? Instructions only address the spouse and asks for pictures but not other relatives. My question: Do I need pictures of myself and my mother for I-130? I know I-485 requires principal applicant pictures. Thanks!
  17. If I were you I would get them as soon as possible and forget about it. They will thank you for doing it at some point in the future. In fact, I am filling out I-130 for my relative and when I answer that I naturalized it asks for the naturalization certificate number. I know it is expensive and I know you have to jump through hoops but if it does not break your bank do it.
  18. Dude, you can't give up. Gotta keep fighting until you win!
  19. I am getting ready to file I-130 and I-485 for my mother who is in the US. Is there advantages of filing I-130 online and once I get I-797 then file I-485 based on that VS mailing all the forms together? I would appreciate if someone can share their experience who went through either of the above ways.
  20. Yep. We are in no rush. Hopefully it comes early
  21. They in the US but only one will stay. They are aware of the restrictions and rules. I will also request advance parole just in case if emergency travel is needed. Those usually come between 3-6 month of application submission.
  22. Yep. I plan on filing 130, 485, 765, 131 and 864. Aware of the medical. I just wanted to know if there is a very detailed post to ensure I don't miss any details. I did my original CG application myself but that was some 6 years ago.
