  1. Hi all - I made an appointment with the USPS for my passport. I know I need to bring the DS-11, a check for the fee and supporting docs. When it comes to supporting docs I am a bit confused. Do I need to bring both the original and also black and white copy of the naturalization certificate? If so, will they take both at the appointment or send me back with the original? I don't fee l very comfortable having the original taken for months as this would mean I have absolutely no document of any sort regarding my status. Any help would be appreciated. Submit your original evidence of U.S. citizenship. Submit a photocopy of the front (and back, if there is printed information) of your original evidence of U.S. citizenship. Photocopies must be: legible, on white 8.5”x11” standard paper, black and white, and single sided. In some cases, you may be able to submit a certified copy of your citizenship evidence. A certified copy is any document that has the seal or stamp of the official issuing authority. If you don't want to submit a photocopy of your citizenship evidence, you may submit a second certified copy of your citizenship evidence, which we will keep. If you don’t submit a photocopy or a second certified copy of your citizenship evidence, your passport processing could be delayed. You cannot submit digital evidence of U.S. citizenship (e.g. electronic or mobile birth certificate) when applying for a U.S. passport. You must continue to submit your physical evidence of U.S. citizenship and a photocopy of it.
  2. - Interview was scheduled for 8:35AM in the Raleigh, NC office. I went with my lawyer who helped file my N-400. - Arrived at 8:20AM. Check in took 5 minutes. Waited another 15-20 before we were called. - Interviewer was extremely friendly, explained what the process was going to look like and began with an oath to say the truth. - Civics part was first and after answering 6/6 that ended. Then reading and writing. Then Yes and No questions. My attorney gave the IO my recent travels and updated the file. - He handed me a paper that said recommended for approval. He asked if I could take my oath today and then asked me to wait downstairs for it. - Case status got 4 updates since then... 1) We recommended N400 for approval 2) Your application was placed in line for oath ceremony 3) Oath ceremony notice was mailed 4) Certificate of Naturalization was issued - I assume that it will switch to approved in the coming days. - No additional documents were requested. At no point did I submit tax transcripts or was requested to do so. Only evidence I ever provided was, marriage certificate, green card copy, traffic ticket copy, selective services copy and the passport copy. Filed under 5 yr rule. No RFEs Total time from mailing date to oath ceremony is exactly 4 months. Overall great experience. Was in and out in 1 hour. I am happy to have concluded my journey to the citizenship and that I will no longer have to communicate with the USCIS. Thank you all who have helped me throughout my journey. I will be staying here hoping to help someone else. P.S wanted to update this thread as well in case someone comes upon in later. I did post elsewhere yesterday.
  3. Status updated again this morning to show "Certificate of Naturalization was issued".

  5. US citizenship applications have been moving forward fast. If you apply now you are very likely to naturalize within 6-8 months. Potentially much earlier too. Once you naturalize you can be away for as long as you want and return any time you want. You'd still need to declare and file US taxes as US requires reporting your worldwide income. You'd then likely need a seasoned accountant who know treaties and foreign tax reporting. Sorry I can only address some parts of your question.
  6. I just got the notice that my interview was scheduled for 9/27. Applied 5/26 (5 year rule) Check cashed 6/2 Interview Scheduled 8/20 No RFE. So close to being done!

  8. I think so.. Not sure. I think 6 months is average or has been lately
  9. I am in Raleigh too. Filed on 5/26. Biometrics were re-used and now it shows "case is being actively reviewed". Keep us posted if you get any movement.
  10. Help us understand "Filed I485 solo end 2019". Based on your note you became a resident in 2015. Did you at any point lose residency/green card ordered by the immigration judge between 2015 and 2019?
  11. She did, I was just wondering if not seeing it scanned online was unusual or not. That is all.
  12. Attorney needed to make a handwritten note for a minor disclosure we had to make. She said it has worked for her well in the past. So, basically it is normal to not see a scan of the actual N400 online in this instance?
  13. Sorry, forgot to mention that it was mailed in. They scanned some docs upon receiving the package and sent me the info to create the online account.
  14. In my N400 onlinr account under my documents it shows 2 things only: 1) Copy of my GC and supporting docs 2) Scanned page of N400 showing the representation page only (lawyer info) Should there be a scan of the entire N400 application too? Not sure why they would not scan that
  15. Almost every comment to this question either accuses him of immigration fraud (by way of planning to propose) or gives him marital advice. IMO OP asked a straightforward question and deserves a straightforward answer from immigration side of things. Possible relationship issues are to be handled by individuals actually in relationship. I know that adjustment from tourist visa is probably the most hated thing on VJ and for a good reason, however the law allows it as long as the applicant had no intent of entering the country to stay (which it sounds like she doesn't at least until she gets the proposal which will be after the fact). What I do not know is whether OP planning for this on his side is doing something illegal from immigration stand point. His GF is certainly not.
  16. I disagree. I didn't tell my now wife that I was proposing until it happened. I don't see why one should assume that OP is planning to circumvent legal ways of immigration. I know not everyone is honest but innocent until proven guilty stands last I checked.
  17. Yes, however OP is not asking for the marriage advice but rather immigration.
  18. OP's situation is interesting... Technically, potential applicant has no clue about any of this and would be entering US with an intent to leave within her authorized stay. If OP proposes and she says yes, then she decides to adjust this would be a true example of changing circumstances. I do not see an issue here, HOWEVER it is likely illegal for OP to be planning this. I do not see how OP's gf would be at fault if she has no clue that OP is going to propose.
