  1. My husband had his interview yesterday in Warsaw Poland, and he was approved! I attended the interview with him as did our two young children. I was really hesitant about taking kids (age 4 and 6) to the embassy but in the end it was worth it because we were taken to the front of the outside the embassy when we were waiting to get in and go to security. We were able to skip a queue of about 25 people. They were super relaxed in the embassy. Way different than I was anticipating! We were in and out with out within an hour and 15 minutes!

Has anyone heard about a possible government shutdown coming the end of December? I heard on the news that the president mentioned it in a tense conversation within the oval office (yesterday?) Since we are all "paying customers" would a government shutdown affect us and NVC or embassies working on these interviews/visas? I too am becoming soo depressed and try to avoid both this forum and my email; I cannot imagine what it has been like for those of you who have been waiting months on end with no word. We have been waiting since the end of October and already i feel like my heart is slowly crumbling to pieces each time my email is empty and each time the NVC rep says the same thing about their darn queue. Really trying to tell myself that it is ok to not be Super woman and cry when I need to as long as i can pull it together and carry on afterwards.

Yes unfortunately it will affect embassies and booked appointments would have to be cancelled and no new interviews will. Be schedule until they can agree on a budget. 😔 lets hope it does not come to this but with the way things are there’s no telling.

Congratulations!! Wow I'm surprised it took so long, you were the first to get approved in this group

We didn’t rush the NVC stage because we knew we couldn’t do the landing until after my husband completes this semester of school. Then when we were ready my joint sponsor had a lot of problems getting documents 😩 but now we are here ready and waiting again.

Thanks. Was there a form for this affidavit written by your mother, or was this something that she wrote freehand? Did your mother also submit an i-864a, as a family-member co-sponsor?

No because I am not living with her yet. And she is not my

joint sponsor. My husbands brother is our joint sponsor.

Yes she just wrote it free hand.

  5. I can tell you what I submitted. I have been out of US for 10 years between Canada and Europe. My case was approved at NVC and I am waiting for interview now.

I sent statements from a US bank account that I have maintained.

statements from US student loans that I have maintained.

Evidence  that I am still registered to vote by absentee ballot. (From two previous elections I had emails)

i also included emails I have sent inquiring about transferring my children’s school and what do I need to register etc.

I also included an affidavit written by my mother that we will be living in her house until we are able to settle by ourselves. This took the place of a lease/home rental agreement since I am not there to sign anything.

All of this was detailed in a cover letter similar to the sample someone suggested above.

  6. I’m hoping someone can give me some advice.

I am in the final stages at the NVC for a CR1 visa for my Spouse. I submitted all the documents as of Oct 25th and they finally got to reviewing them yesterday (Nov 2). However, I got an email from CEAC to check my messages. So I logged in to see that they are requesting a document - our joint sponsors proof of citizenship. I already uploaded a good quality copy of the biographical page which is required. So I’m don’t know why they are asking for that. Everything else has been accepted. Moreover, there’s no error code or message next to the document they are asking to replace or upload so I don’t even know it there is an issue.

I called NVC twice and both operators new nothing. One asked me to add a note to the file I already uploaded. Which after hanging up and trying I realized I can not do since I’ve already submitted. They both had no idea why they never even looked at the passport. 😕

The second operator said she could refer me to a supervisor to review but that might take an additional 6 weeks! Or she said I can upload the passport again and that can take another 3 weeks.

Has this happened to anyone? I’m not sure how to proceed. Should I upload the documents again under supporting? I’m afraid to mess anything up.

I am a petitioner do I need to upload my US passport.  it didn't ask so I have not done yet.

I don't think I did as a petitioner either because I already proved my US Citizenship status when I file the I-130 to sponsor my husband.

The passport I was uploading was for our joint sponsor. I had to prove the joint sponsor was a US Citizen or LPR.
