    So depending on the time between turning the documents into NVC and the interview, we may have to get the police certificate twice?

    it is possible - however, I never submitted any of my documents to the embassy. I have had several people who have been approved who informed me they did not submit documentation to NVC just brought everything to the interview. but from my understanding the police certificate is more so necessary for the interview purpose vs the financial aspect they look into to make sure you can financially support your significant other.

    I’m so confused & need help please. My fiancé is from India & we are waiting for NOA2. So once I receive the NVC case no can he fill the DS160 & schedule for medical & interview or should he wait for letter from embassy ? Do they send letter to petitioner too ? I saw that Mumbai counsulate doesn’t hve a packet 3 for K1 visa. Also for the interview I don’t hve any new pictures as we just met third time right before filing & I hve already sent those pictures with 1-129. Should I duplicate the same pictures for interview too ? Thanks in advance.

    Some Embassy's may be different, but most people once they get their case number from the NVC complete the DS-160 and pay the fee. Once the fee processes you should be able to schedule the medical and interview online a few weeks out to allow time for your packet to be sent to the embassy. Make sure you print out the confirmation  page that you completed the Ds-160 and the payment confirmation. I even took a screen shot and printed that out as well.

    As for the pictures I would absolutely duplicate and have them available. Do the same process on the back of the pictures as you did for the I-129F form: who's in the pic, date pic taken. name of location you are in the picture, etc.

    Best of luck to you both during this process.

    I have an inextensa birth certificate that we just got last week. Does it matter the date of when we got it?

    He unfortunately does not have his vaccination records and doesn't think the doctor has a copy of this anymore? Any suggestions?

    Have you obtained the certificate of good conduct for your husband yet? & at what point do you believe is a good time to obtain it?

    So I should submit additional documentation of proof of relationship at the NVC stage?

    Sorry for all the questions LOL & thank you for the links. I'm actually reading through them now :)

    Are you from Santiago or la capital if you don't mind me asking?

    For the police certificate - it is only good for 30 days, so it is best to get it within 30 days of your interview :)

    I just realized I asked you this question on another post before coming to read this one. So will they administer new vaccines right at the medical exam if need be or should I send my husband to get them again now?

    nope - he will get everything at the medical exam. I believe the vaccines and exam has to be done a specific place, so I would definitely wait and have him get everything done at one. His vaccines, physical and his Xrays.

    Also with the medical exam tell your husband to be prepared to answer some questions... My fiance said when he went the physician asked some questions pertaining to us - and then would ask him the same question in a different way to see if his answers are the same. From what I have read and based on what he told me, the physicians can ask some questions and then relay those answers to the embassy, for example:

    the physician asked my fiance did we get married, or have a "ceremony" of some sort. He said no, we are engaged. Later in the conversation the physician made a comment regarding " Donde vive su esposa" My Fiance corrected him again and said she is my fiance, we are not married... they will ask trick questions like that to see what your response is so make sure he is on point and pays attention to the questions :) outside of that you got this

    Two weeks is not bad at all to get a case no. at NVC. I hope I have that luck.

    I was trying to read up on scheduling the interview, but I think based on my reading that those filing for the IR-1/CR-1 Visa have their interviews scheduled for them. God willing, I will be able to accompany my husband to the interview. I believe the interview will be sometime around July of next year.

    Thank you so much! I do have another question now that you've offered to answer all my questions LOL :D

    When your fiance went to the medical exam, what specifically did he bring with him? I was reading somewhere that vaccination records are to be brought to the exam? Is this true? My husband doesn't have those records anymore. 😕 I wanted to make sure I asked another Dominican filer. 😕

    SO when my fiance went he took everything lol... I believe all you really need though is the appointment confirmation, his passport, and money to pay for fees which is all . AS far as records he never has gotten vaccinated that we know of and had no record. If you husband does not have any records of the vaccines he has already gotten, then he more than likely will receive the vaccines over again as precautionary purposes. I know there are a little few differences between the Fiance and Spouse visa's but I would think this portion is pretty straight forward and similar. :)

    Yes thank you so much!! So once he shows the bank that page and then pays he can set up the interview on line??

    yes, I would also tell him to print out t he confirmation page from completing the DS-160 and then ask for a receipt from the bank that he paid the visa fee. Once it has been applied he will be able to go online and schedule his appointment :)

    hopefully, this is a question related to this topic: are immunization records required to be presented at the medical exam?

    If he has had any vaccinations I would absolutely take records to his medical exam. IF he does not need repeated vaccines they can list on his paperwork he has had it done, and it saves you money since you literally are paying al a carte for each vaccination.  If they feel he needs to have it repeated due to the amount of time since being administered they will do so, but if he can avoid getting the same vaccine its worth a shot, and again it saves you some money. :)

    Do you know how long it takes from the time NVC sends the packet to Santo Domingo to when they receive it? And is it necessary for them to receive it before actually attending the medical examination and the fingerprinting? Lastly, who schedules the interview? NVC or yourself?

    so from my experience it took 2 weeks to obtain my case number, and then 3 weeks for them to send it to Santo Domingo. Once I got the case number I began the Visa Application form, and paid the fee. I printed confirmation of everything, even took a screen shot showing that I paid my visa fee on my phone and printed that out as well.

    I scheduled his appointment the next day after completing the visa application and paying the fee, but I scheduled out at least 2 weeks to allow time for them to receive our packet. NVC sends the packets in groups to the countries of origin through DHL and it took about 3-5 business days to get there. I went to this website another visa journey member provided me and these are the instructions she told me to follow:

    www.dhl.com clicked Express then Tracking, then Track by Shipper's Reference, on this page you add your search info..You change the day and month to what you think your's might have left NVC

    EXAMPLE:

    * Shipper´s Reference : EXP 24 MAR 2011A

    * Date range for shipment - From: 23 - 03 - 2011

    * Date range for shipment - To: 26 - 03 - 2011

    Account Number - Leave this blank

    Shipment Destination: Dominican Republic / You Choose your Country

    I put in the date I received my case number for the shippers reference. The fingerprinting I believe they do that at the interview portion. My fiance just had his physical, X-Rays and his vaccination done and then we scheduled his interview for the 1st available - (make sure to give at least 10 days for the results to be available) HE picked up his results in a sealed envelope that he takes to his interview on Monday.

    Once you schedule his medical I would begin gathering all the documents he will need to take with him to his interview. I scanned everything in and sent it to my email, and my fiance went and printed everything out since I cant be there and cannot send the paperwork in the mail. IF you need any help or questions do not hesitate to reach out. I would be more than happy to try to help or answer any questions you have :)

  9. not sure when you plan to get married but if you carry insurance through your employer you are able to add him as your spouse due to a "life change" once he has insurance that may aid in him getting vaccinations depending on who your primary provider is. It's worth a shot to try, and may only pay the out of pocket co-pay for the visit. Normally they also do their own physical exams at new patient appointments.

    Best of luck to you both !!

  10. Personally I did not use the CEAC website at all. Once we received our case number we completed and paid for the DS-160, and went on the Us travel site to schedule his medical and interview for a few weeks out to allow time for NVC to send our packet to Santo Domingo. Waiting on them will leave you waiting for some time. I am impatient and moved forward once I obtained the case number. I believe right now they are scheduling the end of Dec into Jan for interviews.

    If you schedule the appointments online, be sure to schedule the medical and interview at least 10 days apart. The first appointment you schedule will be for the medical and then the interview.

    Once you get the interview scheduled I would begin getting all the paperwork together your fiance will need to take for the interview- AOS form, pay stubs, letter from employer, tax transcripts from last year, copies of your interview confirmation as well as the confirmation page showing your DS-160 was completed and the confirmation page showing your payment for the visa was paid and processed.

    Best of luck to you both

  11. I called NVC everyday when my application was sent to them. It took about 2 weeks to obtain my case and invoice number and about another week for it to be sent to the country where my fiance is. Once you have the case number and have completed your DS-160 and paid the fee, you should be able to schedule your biometrics online and your interview appt at: https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/

    IF you have not already set up your acct, then do so here or if you did this should allow you to schedule everything. I know every country is different but I dont think it should be an issue with scheduling online your interview date. Best of luck to you both!!

  12. Does anyone know how long it generally takes to receive a letter from the US Embassy in Santo Domingo via mail. I was informed a letter is being sent to me even though I have it listed as preference is via email. I am not sure what the letter is - if it is our packet 3 or our appointment reminder for our interview that is scheduled on the 3rd. Any help is appreciated

    The package was received the 2nd

    Thank You - They told me a letter was sent to me but I didnt get an email so I am assuming it was in the mail- I hope it is the instructions letter even though we have completed most of the next steps already - I  just basically need to know if what all the documents I have ready: AOS, Tax Transcripts, Pay stubs is what they need as far as the documents and where to send it to. His Interview is on 12/3 so want to make sure they have everything and able to review prior to his interview date.

    I am also sending him copies of everything and he will take with him to the interview

    If you know what day NVC has sent your package you can actually track it through DHL by following this

    Although CEAC will normally change status once it has arrived at the Embassy

    Thank You - They sent it on the 30th of October. I will try to track it that way and see what I can find.

    @SJ_Ulloa Are u coming for the interview or u will mail the form?

    I am actually not able to come to the interview :( I am scanning everything to him via email and he will go get everything printed out. I want to come but financially around the holiday season and if he gets approved and possibly not coming until the weekend of Xmas - that is going to be a pricey ticket

    Annual income  = current income, not any past income or tax year income. You're reading too much into the question. In general for an employed worker (not self-employment), it's what you would respond with if somebody asked "How much do you make?"

    On the I-864, there are 3 fields for entering your last 3 years of tax year income (along with asking for your current annual income separately), but no such field is on the I-134.

    If bringing W-2s, then I suggest bringing the 1040s as well. COs are generally less strict about this, but for other visa types NVC sends a checklist if you do this, and USCIS may send an RFIE when you try to AOS. The instructions state to provide either the tax transcripts OR a copy of the tax return (meaning 1040 + supporting schedules like W-2s/1099s/etc). Mixing and matching documents just adds to the confusion.

    Good to know. I will take the W-2 out. I have my tax transcript from last year that provides everything. I definitely do not want to add confusion or open doors for wanting additional evidence. Thank you
