Thank you. I wish I could give you something more to do  .

Unfortunately, Jamaican wait times for the preparation of documents are literally always on "Go-Slow" mode  .  I'm just sitting in limbo hoping they give me everything before I have my interview because I really don't want to reschedule since it's his birthday.

I hope no one misunderstands my previous post by the way. It was more so geared towards persons are still unsure or unclear on what they need to have done before their interview. All this waiting for the NVC is a good time to get that stuff done and show yourself that you're almost at the finish line.

    Hi Guys,

Sooo ummm I can tell that a lot of persons are very agitated by the extended wait with NVC but my heart goes out to you all. I have anxiety issues but I'm a bit more recluse than most persons so I probably won't vent (no offense at all to those who do tho!) but there are a few things that I wish I had done during the wait so I'll share them. Please remember that every embassy is different so your packet 3 requirements and such will vary.

I wish I had done my police record/certificate/report while I was waiting those two weeks. It would give a certain peace of mind knowing that I had especially since you don't need your case number (For Jamaica) or anything from Embassy to get it done.  Get your passport size photos done as soon as possible because every form that you will complete will more than likely need a photo as reference to you. Complete the DS-160 form. You only need your petition # while filling it out. You can sign and submit it without needing the case #. My experience was that the case # was only needed for reference when scheduling and paying for the interview.  Get your fiance(e) to have all the financial documents completed and ready beforehand including the I-134 (Affidavit of Support). If you're unsure if it is needed then check your embassy via its website, calling them or emailing them. He's literally sending me a BOX of papers with all the financial details needed from the bank, his employer, his taxes etc (It's scary how much paper he's shown me ). Call your embassy or research online to find out what the up-to-date requirements are for Packet 3 (basically your interview) especially your case has been updated to the status "ready". My embassy stated that it could take up to SIXTY DAYS for them to send me those details so I researched online and reached out to other persons who have already done this step in the entire process recently to ensure that I get it all ready for my interview. Check and confirm that the beneficiary's immunization documents are readily available as well as he/she meets the US immunization requirements. Getting some of these before your medical helps because who knows what kind of delay that may cause for your medical exam reports to get to the embassy before your interview.
TOO LONG, DIDN'T READ VERSION: You have time right now to get certain things in order so help to make yourself busy and to change your focus as much as you can. Get all your documents ready because for some people as soon as your case # is assigned and sent to your embassy I'm sure you won't want anything to delay or interfere with your interview.

    Noa 1: Oct 20
    Noa 2: April 23

I am totally shaking guys! Thank you for all the updates and encouraging experiences that you’ve shared.

I know that it is asked multiple times but what should be the next step after we got the approval?

The refusal was because I failed to disclose information on the petition.  It was an expunged arrest from 1990 that I forgot about.  It is my fault.  I didn't read that expunged arrests mattered when I filed.  I was not convicted.  It was for battery.

Now we need to see if another K-1 or CR-1 is the better route.  I feel like an a$$....

I guess I just got lucky. I called them exactly two weeks after my NOA2 date on the website and the case was there and the day after I got my case #. I personally don't think it changes much to call the reps because whether or not I like it, if they don't have my case then that's all there is to it if I'm within the time frame they gave me. Just give them 2 weeks and after that keep your hope alive. I called them I think it was around 6-7pm central time. I think the later you call the better it is because they would have either processed majority if not all cases they have for that day so maybe mine would be in the system around then.

For those that are curious about the next step here is a snippet of where we should be after the NOA2 has been granted:

After USCIS approves the petition, it is sent to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will give you a case number and send your petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where your fiancé(e) lives.

The NVC will mail you a letter when it sends your fiancé(e) case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Once you receive this letter, inform your fiancé(e) to take the below-listed actions to apply for a K-1 visa and prepare for the interview.

I have seen many persons express that the NVC should not be contacted until about 2 weeks have passed since receiving the NOA2 because calling them may result in having your case sent back from NVC to USCIS which is only going to further delay the process.

Well I just recently some info about cases that are electronic but I'm sure there are other's with electronic cases that could give better info. Could someone with an electronic case help me out?

If your case is electronic then there will be a longer wait time. If not, then yes that seems to be the average wait time at the moment. When the case has been assigned a case number and it has been sent to the embassy all email addresses associated with the case will be notified of the case being in transit. Before that occurs you can call the NVC to find out the status of your case and if your case has been assigned a number you will be provided with it by the rep. You can use that case number to check your cases status at https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=NIV

I'm fairly certain that at least the petitioner is notified via email about the case being forwarded to the embassy. When I had called before the case was sent to the embassy the rep asked me if I would like to add my email to the account which I provided him with so I (the beneficiary) also received the email notification when my fiance received it. Give it about 2 weeks and then call the NVC about the status of your case.

The fact that you were not denied at the interview and that you're hold up is just related to a mistake they made on your medical shows that you will be in the clear for your visa. They might just be behind on updating your case online so I would say just keep contacting your embassy frequently so your case does not fall through the cracks. Unfortunately, I don't think there's an estimated wait for things like this but just keep following up on your case.

    Hi everyone!!!
So I got the email from USCIS saying "We have taken an action on your case." And I was like "ummmm is it so...? (with suspicious eyes)"
I checked the app. All I see is "Received."
I checked the old website. "Received" again.
After 10 mins of doing errands, I checked the new website, and I saw this!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't believe it. I screamed at my mom when I told her!
We don't have a hardcopy NOA2 in our hand yet, but hopefully we will get it soon so we can actually feel more real.

NOA1 Received date on old website & the app: Oct. 27th
(NOA1 Received date on new website: Oct. 31st)
NOA 2 Approved date on new website: Apr. 25th

I updated my timeline, but I will put the correct NOA2 date if it is different in the hardcopy from the website.
I hope everyone will get their NOA2 soon. Sending you lots of love to my October fellows!!

As for us, we cannot get married in my home country Malaysia easily. Ivan will need to convert to Muslim since I was born as a Muslim (it’s written on my ID card too I’m a Muslim ) . I never did live my life like a Muslim so I don’t want him to convert and to get married here there will be a course and a test that need to be taken. I know almost nothing about being a Muslim so I would get into a big trouble. Plus Ivan can’t convert here in Malaysia as they will not take conversion just to get married. Happened to my aunt, they got married outside Malaysia without my uncle converting and when they returned to Malaysia, Islamic police raided their house and then asked them to divorce because they didn’t recognise my aunt’s marriage (doesn’t make any sense).

To get married in Croatia, I will need a letter saying that I’m single. To get that letter for a Muslim I need to get it from an Imam where I live and to get it I need to go through the test too. Being an atheist is a big no no in Malaysia if you’re born as a Muslim. Only now after we applied for K1 visa they made a new rule that we can now apply with the commissioner of oath.  how I wish they changed the rule before we applied for this. We thought it’s gonna take maximum 6 months but here we are, still waiting for our approval on day 195.

I’m sorry if my statement is a bit offensive for any muslims here on this forum. I respect every religion even though I don’t believe in one.

Just to add some information, I spoke with someone at the NVC last night, and they said that electronic cases get created and scanned and all information entered at the NVC.  They do their checks and audits to make sure everything is correctly entered, and scanned etc.  Then the embassy is notified and they have access to the case immediately.  This adds some time for the case at the NVC.  If you call and it is in "Admin Processing" this is what they are doing.

We got a case number 6 days ago, and it's still being prepared to send.  You can ask the NVC representative if there has been any activity on your case also.  They can see daily activity, but it hasn't been sent yet.

Since you have your NOA2, you don't need to contact the USCIS anymore. The NVC is where you're case needs to be handled next to stick to contacting them. There is an April 2018 NOA2-NVC thread for those who have received their NOA2. You should come and join us there. There are quite a few persons still awaiting their cases to be received or to receive their case number. You're still within normal wait times so no worries.
