Congratulations! :jest: It must feel surreal! Meeting him at the airport, packing up in your very own apartment. Can't wait until I'm in that moment too. A huge good luck to the both of you! (And let me know if you come up with any interesting ideas on how to pass the time while awaiting the EAD - I would truly appreciate it ;))

Depending on the field you are working in you might look at any US specific certificate programs. I know that Rashmi plans to do some certificate work for Human Resource stuff that is US specific that she is missing.

Yeah, sounds like we're playing the same waiting game. But wow! That would be nerve-wracking! Is it difficult to get the bank draft? Could she get that done the same day as VOH? Good luck to you!

When she came to study in the US she had to present the bank with her visa and with the information from the university on the tuition costs. Nepal has super strict currency rules for taking money in and out of the country if you are a citizen or a foreigner. I just know she is nervous because she wants to make sure it is all in hand well ahead of time. To bring money here she either has to convert it to USD first or get a draft which is safer, she can't fly with more than $50 USD worth of Nepali Rupees.

    Hello everyone!

I just want to say thanks so much to @CopperChem @_Mia_ @rachied26 and @DrivinAForeign for the helpful insight!

Our CEAC status changed back to "Administrative Processing" the next day and then on Friday switched to "Issued"! We were super excited but knew we would have to wait until after the weekend for there to be any info from the courier service. But still no email from them today! We're super antsy because he's going to be flying out the day after VOH! Anyway, we were hoping to get an email today, then VOH tomorrow so he can have his POE on Wednesday but all that is being pushed back at least one more day. @_Mia_ it looks like we are still in very similar situations. I hope we both hear something soon!

But oh well! We are so close I really have so little to complain about. A HUGE congrats to all that are having their POE today! @rachied26 @S*UK

I can't wait to see even more good news coming in on here

We are sitting at the same stage, CEAC says issued as of the 17th. Information at the moment still shows her Passport is at the Embassy. She is getting nervous because her flight is in a week and she needs the Visa before she can get a bank draft because of Nepal's currency controls.

I just called USCIS, they said it still hasn't been sent yet to NVC and to give it a couple more weeks, NOA2 date was October 31th.

If you don't get anything by Wednesday I would probably consider looking at what happened in this thread to a subset of people. Also check with people in the May group since your timeline of your NOA2 is going to match more of the people in there.

Good luck on your POE, be prepared to be unable to move the afternoon of the 23rd.

lack of sufficient evidence. not sure why we weren't just given a RFE or why it took 225 days to get this to us.

You just have to show proof you met in person in the last two years. Not sure why it wasn't an RFE though. Typically you just need a photo or passport stamps/cover page information to prove you met. The bigger proof is at the interview stage. The whole thing seems odd.

that's bizarre that they are just catching it now.  But better than POE right??!!  I hope it's a quick fix!

So we figured out fully how she did it. She had a student visa before. So she had a DS-160 she had filled out for that application that was linking to the old US travel docs information. So it let her change to her K1 and apply and do an interview without filling out the fresh DS-160. I am hoping that she doesn't have to repay any fees or redo anything.

Well got an e-mail last night that has me confused. The embassy is saying there may be a delay in issuing her visa because of submission of a wrong DS-160? Are there multiple DS-160's to submit?

    I am completely confused.

Ok in talking to her she filled out the DS-160 information on ustraveldocs, but failed to fill it out on CEAC first so it created a weird glitch. Have to get with the embassy to see what to do since they already did the interview and approved her. I am surprised that they figured it out a week after the interview.

Well that would be very exciting! I hope everything's going well with your case! Any exciting news post-interview?

Well, her status updated on CEAC today so hopefully they send her an e-mail to pickup the visa tomorrow/today for her. Beyond that, so far she thinks everything she has will fit in the luggage and be under weight. Unfortunately she has two more weeks until POE to fix that.

That was my concern but I have read that other people (I was particularly looking for Californians) did it without any problems.  I guess we'll try and see what happens.  His POE is Tuesday and Thursday (and most likely Friday) are holidays so we only have 4 working days after before we get married.  I guess we'll see how quickly our info get to the SS Office!  :)

May be less of an issue if he is keeping his last name anyway.

Yep, definitely try before the wedding.  Someone tries to get it after recently and they were denied the card, I think because of the lack of real status (no visa valid anymore,  not a resident yet).

This fact is making me happy that she already has a SSN because of her previous work visa. I believe that means we are good to do the quick wedding and move on.

    Hello everyone!

I've been super busy with real life lately so I've been dying missing all you lovely people. Super huge update: Interview and approval happened on the 9th!!! Sam wrote a wonderful retelling of his experience and embassy review that you can read on our timeline if so inclined.

Anyway, I've now begun checking the CEAC tracker religiously. Yesterday is was in "Administrative Processing" and today it changed to "Ready"... that seems a bit strange to me? Any idea what this could mean?

    <3 s to all!

My bet is the Visa is now being sent out for pickup or delivery.

Hi everyone!  I'm reading on these forums that you should wait 2 weeks after POE to apply for a SSN.  Anyone do it before that without problems?  Our POE is 11/21 and we are getting married on 12/1 so the plan was to go apply for SSN prior to the wedding but I think we'll have to wait until afterwards, especially with the holiday next week.  Holy cow.. next week is the holiday already!?!?!

Yup, POE then Thanksgiving what 2 days later. Sounds exciting.
