Awesome! Hopefully timing works out well for you two and you're able to plan things without those deadlines causing any issues!

Yeah we will see what happens with our planning. I am actually a bit nervous the notice will arrive while I am on a two week business trip that starts on Labor day. My mail will obviously be on hold that whole time. Hopefully they send it to our lawyer first and he just sends me a pdf scan. Just nerve racking right now. I suspect we are going to get pushed to November or December at this point.

Please keep in mind that she will not be able to leave the US until she receives her AP or she will be considered to have abandoned her AOS. This typically takes at least three months from when you file for it conjointly with AOS and EAD (if you so choose and want the fees for AP and EAD waived). Also keep in mind that the visa is only valid for 6 months after the date of her medical. As for what you and our fiancee want to do, that is best left up to you, but please be cognizant of those dates/deadlines.

Completely aware of all of that. She and her sister hate each other so she wasn't going to the wedding. But, her mom is going to the wedding and she wants me to meet her and her grandfather. Our plan is to get her here and all settled in and figuring out what all she wants to do to the house and looking at some non-profits to work with.

If she wants to visit friends, you could always select an interview date in October to give her time to see them before coming over. Just make sure the interview within 4 months of the NOA2 date.

Well the trip is with a group of friends not a visit. However, she only wants to go if she doesn't have the visa stuff happening. She wanted to be over here next month so she is already getting antsy and her sister is getting married in Delhi in November so she wants leave Nepal by the end of October since her plan is for me to fly over 2-3 weeks after her embassy interview and the two of us to fly back. She wants me to meet her parents, grandfather, etc while I am over as well. I just do what I am told in that regard.

  4. Ok this is going to seem like a dumb question, but what number do you call and how to do you get through to a live person. I haven't figured out how to get through the 1-800-375-5283 # to anything other than the automated thing telling me what the website does for the case number. Kind of hoping the mail is just slow right now and need to let Fiance know. She has friends wanting to visit Upper Mustang right at the end of September and wants to know if she might need to be doing her interview at the embassy at that time or not.

  5. Well got the daily informed delivery an no NOA2 yet. Saw the first of the people from the 14th of April started getting them so hopefully this week for us (4/17). Kind of getting nervous since I have a business trip that starts on Labor Day and will put me away from my mail for 2 weeks. Hopefully everything will get sent to the lawyer and he will just send me scans of the documents.

Keeping my fingers crossed right now that we get approval soon. Already likely pushing into November for getting her Visa and me visiting her family. Only bad thing is her sister is getting married in November in Delhi so I might arrive to nobody in Kathmandu.

I got my letter of employment from my co-sponsor so looks like tonight I'm double checking to make sure I have everything ready to send to my fiancee next Thursday. I'm super excited for it... I know every step I get closer and closer to finally having him here and it's so surreal at this point. It almost feels like a dream. We've been together since 2015 and it's nothing compared to what most people on VJ have been together. I can't imagine how some do it for so long, but it shows unbelievable strength to keep the relationship strong since LDR's aren't easy. I'm just finally happy we can fully spend time together (longer than 90 days :P) and won't have to countdown our days together.

What a happy day it is! I stressed so long about finding a co-sponsor never believing I would even find one. I can't believe how far we've come.

Does anyone know the best option to ship my papers internationally to my fiancee? I'm more nervous about my mail getting lost than ever. I was thinking USPS since I haven't had a problem with them delivering mail I've sent in the past. International scares me a bit though.

I would actually use the USPS for Australia. My fiance in Nepal we used UPS only because there wasn't a Fedex office near to me. But for Australia the USPS is actually quite good and the Australian national postal service is just as good. I went other carrier because Nepal's postal service isn't quite as solid in that respect. She actually used to send everything back and forth to her parents via DHL or Fedex when here so I followed her example/recommendation.

it  goes about NOA 2 , ...as soon as NOA 1 is Intermediate form, after the digitals  that define the year, there goes a cumulative account

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/uscis-receipt-number

Once again I think while that information used to be accurate it is no longer so.

Following that breakdown the numbers for April: WAC 17 902 92953 and others. The AAA and BB sections seems to still be accurate. the CCC and DEEEE sections no longer seem to follow the pattern that might have once have existed.

I'm just a trucker but I think we can fix the system very easily. The problem is it's Govn designed and maintained.

all we need is to take 100 14 year olds, get them off their XBox's long enough to redesign the system. The plus is it will only cost the taxpayers the cost of the pizza and Mountain Dew.

The biggest problem in government state or federal is that they haven't created a unified IT Office like the Brits did. So each department has their own systems. I know some state child protective service systems that are still Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 8. It is a massive weakness/problem across all levels of government in the US.

I am just saying all the current April documents are 902 or 903 for the second 3 numbers. Maximum work days for a fiscal year are going to be pretty close to 270 days so there explaination obviously isn't accurate.

I suspect that the information on ***removed*** is out of date on several things. They keep referencing documents that you need for certain steps that are no long listed on the USCIS or State-Department sites.

I had seen that kind of explanation for NVC numbers. Don't think it applies for USCIS numbers. Numbers are all correlative, and they don't seem to have anything to do with the date, except for being year 17. All of them go by the same pattern in correlative order... 17902XXXXX, and when they reached 1790299999 during April, it simply went on with 1790300000 and so on.

That makes much more sense to me. The NVC is organized and USCIS is a hodge podge. Seems to fit the pattern from everyone so far.

Each of the 13 digits in a USCIS receipt number has a specific purpose.

    WAC 11 012 50960

    WAC - California service center

11 - fiscal year ( government agencies use a fiscal year that is different from the calendar year. It begins on October 1 and ends on September 30 )

012  - this set of digits indicates the computer workday that the case was opened...the computer workday is basically the same thing as a workday. Therefore it excludes most weekends and holidays. Our example case was opened on the 12th workday of the 2011 fiscal year (October 18, 2010)..

50960     five digits is the case number.

The problem with this explanation is my number set is 1790292953, you can't actually have 902 work days in the 17 fiscal year. So I don't think it is correct.

  12. Ok side related item on questions and I know this may seem silly. But does she need a Police Certificate for the US?

She lived here for 2 years doing her MBA and I know she needs one for her home country again. She just left in February after her student visa expired when she graduated and she lost her OPT card status when she had to go home for family/medical issues before she got hired anywhere.

  13. She will be doing the interview in Nepal which is where the divorce decree was processed. She was legally married initially in India then divorced in Nepal. Just want to make sure I get all my I's dotted and T's crossed.

I want to make sure I get everything I need on my end sent to her with plenty of time to spare since it has to be sent to her mother's office (more reliable mail delivery).

  14. So my Fiance was in a bad marriage when she was younger and divorced. When I submitted the application the paperwork of course included an English translation. Does she also need a copy of the English translation with her or is that in the packet sent to the US Embassy?

I just want to make sure I get her to collect the correct set of papers on her end. Mostly asking because much of the information out there seems to be several years old and involve different forms.

  15. Glad to see everyone else from April is going nuts as well. My official date was the 17th for the NOA1 and the black hole the paperwork falls into is driving me nuts. At least with digital communication it is better. Haven't seen the Fiance since the end of February when she went back. Originally was going to visit in June/July but her mother got sick so we pushed off my visit until she has her visa so we can fly back together. Only bad thing now is that I fear that is going to drop right in the middle of the national holiday shutdown/trekking season when flights get problematic.

I am hopeful that since she did her MBA here it should go relatively smoothly beyond the whole waiting thing.
