  1. Just got the NOA that our I-751 ROC has been approved. So we submitted on 3/12 and were approved 8/17, just a smidge over 5 months.

So they not only re-used biometrics, they also skipped the interview as well. I'm assuming this is probably due to COVID.

Our K1 process was a bear so it's nice to have something go our way. Our filings have always been very thorough with evidence so that may have been a factor.

  2. Just a quick update -- package sent 3/12, UPS confirmation of delivery on 3/15.

USCIS charged the card late last week (can't say for sure but probably 4/8.)

We received the NOA for the I-751 in today's mail (4/12) so pretty much exactly one month for us.

As everyone has said, the NOA states there's an 18 month extention for the existing conditional green card.

It might matter to some that at no point did our USCIS online account reflect any action. It still doesn't (e.g. we have a paper NOA for our new filing, but the account is showing our last activity was more than a year ago.)

Woohoo fantastic news. So happy to hear this.

    As are we!

The green card arrived in today's mail, exactly a week after the interview.

Unfortunately it still has her maiden name. The officer said he'd change it to her married name -- we were waiting on the GC to change it everywhere else. I guess we still can but that's yet another thing we'll have to file with USCIS for.

Hey just curious how far away was the interview from the date you got the letter ?

They sent my letter for the interview to my mother in laws house so I’d have to drive there to pick it up. But I can’t go before this week end and I got my notification that they scheduled me an interview and sent a letter a week ago

    Exactly one month for us.

Do you remember who the officer was? I interacted with one of them when I did my biometrics a few weeks ago. The one that I talked to was Asian looking and his office was the closest to the front desk.

Biometrics is close to the reception desk and security. The interviews happen in offices behind the doors at the very back of the information area that's past the reception.

I don't remember his full name. I know his last name started with an H, he was caucasian with a large build. Happened so fast and we were so stressed we didn't really remember every detail.

  6. Back from the interview! Approved on the spot. The interviewer was very kind and kept things pretty easy and mostly just observed us interacting to his discussion and questions. No real issues but we had a small panic when he asked us for the medical, and then he realized we were K1 and didn't need it and apologized, apparently we were the 8th interview of the day (it was just after noon) for him and K1s of course are rare compared to others that do need medicals.

Given the low level of activity on this thread, I suspect we're probably the lone of the last January AOS filers, if not the last, (that's still active on VJ, anyway) to get approved. The has been a loooong journey, and thanks to everyone who's been supportive here!

  7. Just got back from our AOS interview (we're a K1 couple) in Phoenix.  My spouse was approved on the spot. We were at day #530 since AOS filing, and the officer confirmed our case for whatever reason was about two months older than what they're processing.

As they were before, everyone at the Phoenix USCIS office was very nice and professional from initial security to reception to the case officer.

The interviewing officer made a point of saying he liked to keep the interview light, and it was pretty clear most of the judgement was just made on how we interacted as a couple. The officer was pretty interesting himself, if I understood him correctly he's worked multiple jobs in USCIS and he transferred in after working USCIS marriage fraud investigations.

Other than the standard questions, one of us was asked what the other's birthday was, and the other was asked when our anniversary was -- that was it! He looked at our pictures and selected three for his file.

He did ask us for our medical which totally freaked us out and then he realized we were K1 visa and he said to not worry.

Total interview time was about 20-30 minutes. They called for us about 15 minutes after our scheduled appointment.

It's been a long wait -- from the day we decided to get married to today has been over 900 days -- but we're happy and glad to be more or less at the end of the process.

No wonder why I got my interview scheduled so fast 😅 I really wasn’t expecting anything before the end of the year.

You're definitely going to bring down the average wait time for Phoenix! Our interview will be around 540 days from submission of our 485.

It's so bizarre that someone with a NOA1 a couple weeks later than ours got their AOS 4 months later, while we're at 19 months, and you'll likely be around 7.5 (225 days +/-.)

FWIW, everyone at the Phoenix office has been very nice to us whenever we've been there.

Hey guys an update on my side, just got a notification that my case has been scheduled for an interview. I am now waiting for the letter to know the date. Anyone would like to share their experience from their Interview ?

There have been barely any interviews in Phoenix for the past year, at least for K1s. When I searched the database here there were only 8 pending total.

We got our letter a few weeks ago, so our interview is happening quite soon so we'll make a point to share when it's over. There is only one other couple we know of from around our time (January 2018 AOS filing), and they were fast tracked for both K1 and AOS -- and were approved for the GC on the spot a year ago. As far as I can tell they may have been the last K1 AOS approved in Phoenix for someone on VJ.

  10. Did any of you have to file a second (or update your original) 864?

The language on the interview letter is a little vague (it says "unless already filed" but also says they want all current financial info.)

Less than a week to go. Finished putting together the relationship documentation and it fills two 1.5" binders -- and to think I was worried because we were light on pics and emails! The actual filings fill a third binder.

    Hi everyone,

We had our AOS interview today and got approved on the spot!!!! We are so happy.

    Documents we brought:

Copies of all the forms submitted

    New medical examination

    passports and driver's license

    current and past EAD

proof of relationship evidence (joint bank account, health insurance, car insurance, joint lease, joint credit cards, a ton of pictures of our relationship)

During our interview, the officer just asked us for our passports, licenses, and EAD. They reviewed the whole original AOS application and asked the following questions:

What do you like about each other?

What do you like to do as a couple?

    How did you meet?

What year did you meet each other?

Where did you go on your first date?

    When did you get married?

    How did you propose?

What is your spouse's birth date?

    Are you currently working?

    When did you start working?

The officer was nice and everything went smoothly.

Best of luck to everyone out there!

Congrats! I hadn't logged in for a couple weeks and just saw this.

New medical exam? Is that necessary? I thought the I-693 submitted with the K1 qualified for that?

  12. Checking in since it's been more than two months since the last posting.

We got a letter about 10 days after the EAD/AP renewal submission saying that they'd re-use the biometrics (we made a point of sending in the renewal before the one-year mark of the biometrics appointment based on a tip we'd read here.)

We've heard nothing since then on either the renewal or the I-485, so we're now officially at 15 months since NOA1 on the I-485. VJ says the current average is about 578 days (19 months) for the last 3 AOS at our office, so ... Maybe June/July?

  13. Checking in again. Just wrapped up the paperwork for renewal of the I-764 and I-131 (which expire in 120 days) since we've heard nothing on the AOS.

On the good news side, someone who filed 8/2017 had their interview at our local office just a couple weeks ago. That's the first real data point for the long-delays crowd that we're in. If that's really the time line, then we'd get a notice around April/May just about when the EAD/AP would expire.

  14. Just checking in since it's been a couple months. No news.

Currently our local office is showing only 5 interviews in the past two years, with 22 K1 I-485 NOA1s listed here on the site (so probably more like a couple hundred.)

Everyone with January 2017 NOA1s has had an interview, but no one with April 2017 does, and we're January 2018. Looks like a long wait ahead.

Nothing on my i485 here. I applied December 18 2017. (Chicago)

I phoned today for the 1st time. Did not get much info.. however i did find out that their online tracking system is glitching. So they are trying to move cases from one system to another, which doesn't effect your case its just that the online system may not update properly (nothing new there).. she said to keep waiting or i can make an info pass appointment and i told her that's okay because it is only for general questions and doesn't speed up the process.

I asked why others are being approved that are in the same city and applied months after myself and she didnt have an answer for that she just said that the cases are in your cities office and they handle them there..

We're in the same boat. I posted yesterday in the January AOS filers. There's a single approval of a I-485 in our city (Phoenix) this year that happened in May, and it had a NOA about three weeks after ours.

It seems to be a repeat of the K1 wait all over again. We applied for the EAD/AP at the same time and got those, so at least something happened. If I look at the prior I-485 approvals in our city, it looks like the wait was 10-11 months and got progressively longer in 2017.

Hope both of us get some movement soon!

I found the DHS site (login required) has info where the old USCIS doesn't. USCIS crashes on out 485 but the DHS site lists the correct NOA dates. Both show the EAD/AP correctly.

  16. Checking in, since it's been a while. Still no interview notice on the I-485, however the EAD/AP card

was used successfully to re-enter the country after visiting friends abroad. Customs was bit

confused how to handle it (I guess they don't get many people coming in on APs) but it worked.

We're at day 195. I looked up the few I-485s for K1s for our office, and only one I-485 has

been approved this year (in May, you know who you are ;) ) The last three approvals before

that were all late 2017 and took about 9-10 months, so I guess we'll keep waiting.

Thank god we filed for EAD/AP. I can't imagine how hard it would be being trapped.

Did you expedite your case? Just wondering... I am a Feb 3rd filer. Trying to feel the vibe in this group and see if I can expect something sooner than later...

No. No expedite, just lots of waiting. They got the package with 485/765/131 on 12/28, NOA1 was 1/2, biometrics was 1/31, and the notice we got yesterday was the only contact since biometrics.

Do you mean the EAD approval letter?

Yes, the I-797 showing EAD is appoved. We got a second I-797 for the AP as well.
