Hi, I wanted to provide an update as yesterday my husband had an N-400 interview in Springfield, MA.  We filed the I-751 with VSC in March 2018, case was transferred to TSC earlier this year. We filed N-400 on January 30, 2019.

The interview notice was for the N-400 only, but when we arrived together, the officer did a combo interview. My husband passed and we should be getting a letter about the Oath Ceremony soon. Good luck to all!

She had her interview this morning in Kansas City. The appointment was at 9:30am, we showed up early, they called her name at 9:30.
She took an oath to tell the truth -
He told her that he would ask 10 questions, if she got 6 correct - she would pass. She answered the first 6 questions correctly -
He asked her a question in english and she was required to write the correct answer in english (they provided the answer) -
She signed some paperwork saying she would take the naturalization oath.
He congratulated her and told here to watch for the swearing-in ceremony notification.
The whole thing took less than 10 minutes.

From the day we mailed-in the N-400 application to the date she passed her interview was 2months and 1week.

Had my interview today! I got there 30 minutes before my appointment. My appointment was at 10:30 I was out of there before 11. The officer flew through the questions. Got the first 6 right and he just moved on. I had to read a phrase and then write the answer, signed a couple of things and was out of there. He said my oath should be mid may.

Ok!  So my husband is officially approved!  We are just waiting for the oath date.  This was on the USCIS website when I checked tonight.

    March 8, 2019
    We approved your application
Your final step to becoming a citizen is to attend your naturalization ceremony
We will mail you a letter when we schedule your naturalization ceremony.
    Estimated wait time:
    4 months
Current as of today at 8:18 p.m.       I guess we will see if it is really 4 months.  Everything has been moving so quickly with this particular application.  I remember the days when it seemed like our k1 would never get approved!  It felt like it took a lifetime!

All can say that in general, my N-400 (5-yr based) interview experience is similar to other to other experiences I've read in this forum. IO is always nice. We did the civics test first. The reading and writing tests were done on a tablet that is vertically mounted. Don't worry, the IO will speak slowly. We then went through the application. Great advice I got from this forum is to check/memorize my application before the interview. All signatures are done on that vertically mounted tablet which can be a little bit awkward in writing. In the end, the IO will give you a form N-652 showing whether you've been recommended for approval or decision cannot be made.

Here are my personal suggestions though:
    1) Don't forget to ask the IO a potential timeline for the oath ceremony/oath letter if you get a recommendation for approval. The 2019 Naturalization Calendar for the Northern/Middle District of Florida is already available online so you will have an idea of potential oath taking dates.

    2) As soon as you leave the building, check your online USCIS account to see new updates on your case history. 'You have attended your interview.' and 'We approved your application' were added that same day but there were no notifications for them. All I saw was an app update from the USCIS case online status saying 'My case was submitted for Quality review based on an Approval recommendation' that same day too. I wish that they also put time stamps on these updates so I would know which came first. I guess my case should have been done with quality review if 'We approved' but then again they're both on the same day. Confusing to me.

I think I was mainly anxious in the waiting room when I saw other applicants, a lawyer and thick binders.

fyi I have no clue on marriage-based applications and interviews, but I hope the above helps you in one way or another. Congratulations! You're in the fast Jax N-400 group! Best wishes on your interview.

I just got my interview for my ROC today.. yup interview. I didn't file for N400 yet. And I probably will take this time to relax and think about that later.

I do have a separate thread where I will give info how it all went.. but to summarize it, the officer (who was the nicest officer of all the officers I've ever encountered in all the immigration/visa process I've ever been in) told us we are actually good and should wait for the letter or card (I was shocked it was that super easy, was expecting to be grilled to be honest) in 4 to 6 weeks.

My wife and I sent her ROC application in at the very end of 2016; receipt letter on Jan 3 2017, followed by biometrics on Jan 31 2017. Then a lot of nothing. Transferred  to TSC in March 2018, more nothing, an RFE in May 2018, more nothing until September when we got an interview letter. Interview on Oct 24 2018, at which time the IO asked almost no questions (more confirmation of what was already in the file) and said things would go forward. We got the email later that day saying my wife's GC was being produced. Clearly we're not finished just yet, but still, 22 months from application to approval.

Well, our third and final green card finally arrived today.  Our youngest teen's green card arrived about a month after her mother and sister's green cards.  The youngest had two biometric appointments, one during May of 2017 and another this year.  And, after all those photos, her green card ended up having her old visa photo taken in 2015.  She is now complaining that she will be stuck with an ugly photo for 10 years.  🙂

For those that may be curious, here is the envelope the green cards arrived in.  No signature needed.  Two cards were left in our mailbox and one at our front door.

Phew! finally, yesterday I received the notification my card is in production.

    I'm a late March 2017 CSC filer
I moved from California to Texas 2 years ago
They moved my case to local office (Texas)
Then they transferred me to the Nebraska office I think late June 2018
I received my extension letter in August 2018
And card in production October 8th 2018

Hope this helps the people that are still waiting, especially those transferred to Nebraska, I know it took a long time for us. Good luck y'all.

Can't believe it is over!! Card was mailed!!! I am new here, but wanted to share my timeline because seeing y'all being approved helped me out, so here it goes:

    March 20th, 2017 - application received
    April 14th, 2017 - Biometrics
June 27th, 2018 - Case transferred to Nebraska
    August 1st, 2018 - received the 18 months extension
    October 3rd, 2018 - Card in production
    October 5th - card mailed

Interesting fact: On October 4th went to get my second stamp with an infopass appointment, guy there gave me a year stamp and told me my case was going to be delayed because I moved from Illinois to Florida (July 28th 2018, changed my address right away) and it is a different jurisdiction. At that time my card was already in production and I guess he had no idea from his computer, which is weird, and I hadn't looked at the status before I went.

    Hey there everyone,

I sent my package for I-751 to CSC on 4/17/17, they received it on 4/19, and my CRI-89 form is dated 4/17, but I-751 was formally received on 5/2. So I will post this in both May 2017 and April 2017 threads.

Just got my status changed on the old USCIS web-site to "We ordered your card". New website uscis.dhs.gov still showing "Case was transferred..."

    So, here's my story

Got married and filed I-130 and I-485 concurrently. Didn't even file EAD and travel permit. Received my GC in 4 months - got scheduled for an interview for the date less than 3 months after applying, but my interview was re-scheduled one month later due to inclement weather. Got approved some 10 days after the interview. That happened in the very end of February 2016

In February 2017, even less than a year after my GC date filed for a divorce. Got my divorce finalized two months later, in mid-April 2017, and filed for I-751 immediately with a divorce waiver.

My documents were quite scarce. I did file required minimum for each category listed at USCIS web-site, and I didn't have many docs confirming our co-mingling in financial aspects, nor many pictures. I also attached a couple of postcards from friends addressing both of us, two affidavits. But what I did additionally I wrote a VERY DETAILED letter to the USCIS describing our short-lived marriage and the problems leading to divorce + why I had not too many documents. My situation was  quite severe as my other part turned out to be highly irresponsible financially - I attached documents from IRS + some Facebook screenshots as proofs of very lavish spending habits with quite scarce means for that lifestyle.

I did read all the horrible stories about the problems/troubles/need to hire a lawyer. But in my understanding I didn't really need a lawyer at that stage since I could explain my situation myself clearly - I do believe my detailed letter went a long way.

I received a one-year extension to my original GC (the old one without the direct statement "from the end date on your GC" yet, and that made a few airline employees confused - but never raised a brow of any CBP officer) at once, and started to wait.

I have been traveling extensively all the time, and never ever my extension letter with the expired GC was a problem.

Throughout my wait I moved from CSC area to VSC area, but even though I had my fingers crossed they'd move my case with me as VSC was much quicker at that point nothing happened.

Then on 2/26/2018 I got my very first message about a "Local office transfer" - the glitch lots of people here got.

On 7/19/2018 I received a notice of transfer to VSC. Nice. And then VSC slowed down.

I really didn't bother calling/inquiring as online inquiry wouldn't be accepted by the web-site (my receipt was from CSC, even though in my transfer note they explicitly said my new processing times should be from VSC).

And, today I've gotten my status change! I am really glad it's over, and my next step is - N400 in 2 years, exactly when my 5-years term as LPR ends.

I honestly believe that writing a detailed letter explaining the situation helps process your case and eliminates a need for an interview. Immigration officers get the cases from tons of people from all over the world, each of them having a different background and different story, different circumstances and absolutely different style. They receive tons of documents (often unsorted) of various origins, in different languages, etc. I do believe should you want your case go smoothly - give it an effort and write a detailed explanations of your particular situation.

I would like to thank everyone at this forum - your insights and experiences did help me navigate through the process and avoid some mistakes. I wish everyone success, and good luck and staunch patience with this exhausting wait!

    USCIS # # 1-800-375-5283
Press 1 for English (if that's your choice of language)
Keep pressing 2 until you get transferred. Once you are speaking to a representative, ask them to be transferred to the Tier 2 officer as you would like to make a case inquiry. If they say they can't transfer you for some reason, let them know you have spoken to them before and ask to be transferred. The customer service people at USCIS can't make case inquiries and some will try not to transfer you because they believe they can 'help you'  :-) If something doesn't go right, just call back.
