I didn't make it, still waiting for her (legal stamped) divorced papers to be sent to me.  I initially sent a copy and had to get a stamped one by making an appointment to request one, then took several weeks for them to receive the request for them to do it, and just barely received it.  Now its being sent to me, but Monday is the deadline and takes 4 days to get here to me.  So I will have to pay again and start this whole process over from the beginning.  :( I am happy for everyone else, maybe next year for me....

I would certainly call USCIS and discuss with them that the documents will only be a few days late and plead for an extension. If they don’t then they are just plain a’holes.  I would t give up just yet.

When were you approved, I was approved Oct 10 officially, I called NvC yesterday just for the hell of it and of course its not there, I don't think I'm too far behind you but from what I remember lately, NVC is taking up to 8 weeks. ...my fiance informed me he doesn't want to leave during the holidays anyways....I don't celebrate so not the biggest deal to me and I figure the timing is so close that it probably won't be possible given how expensive the tickets would be to buy last minute, we're hoping for 2nd week if Jan.

    Hi,

Our NOA2 was approved on 9/29.  It reached NVC on 10/12 and assigned a case number 10/13 and a day later, went into "Administrative Processing".  From looking at detailed statistics from other VJ filers, NVC tends to have a quick turnaround and has been averaging 3-8 days.  I noted a few taking as much as 12-26 and as much as 44 days respectfully.  Ours is going on day 14 and it's still in "Administrative Processing" so we are still holding out hope that they approve it and send it on to Manila so that we can be together for the holidays.  Hopefully you will be lucky and have a quick turnaround too.  :)

Generally AP status is just a status everyone goes through, we did. It takes about 21 days for NVC to receive and then about 10 days for the consulate to receive. This is on average.

The lawyer thing, I'm not so sure about. We had a lawyer hired, paid thousands, and in the end had to fire him and do it all ourselves because he was a moron.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the lawyer but I still think it probably helped get your case noticed quicker than without one.  Your NOA1 was just a few days before ours and we are still stuck at stage two of this process.  Most couples that have filed around the same time we did already have visa in hand with many already married.  In my honest opinion, still; we should have obtained legal counsel from day one.

  4. If any new filers are reading this, my strongest recommendation is to obtain an immigration lawyer. My fiancé and I have been dragged through the mud on every corner.  Yes, some people that have obtained an attorney have received RFE’s but they tend to be processed much faster. We did not get an RFE and it took me contacting my congressman, calling nearly every day and doing inquiry after inquiry just to get an NOA2.   After 231 day we finally got out NOA2.  That doesn’t mean much of anything until you pass every single step of the way in which at any point you get get denied.  Now we are in NVC black hole of Adminiatrative Procrssong.  Another step of who the heck knows what will happen next.   I’m not affiliated with any legal form but I sure wish I was.    Again, get any attorney so you don’t go through what we are going through now.  So freaking depressed right now.  Again, in my personal and strongest opinion, GET AN ATTORNEY!!!!   Any of you  can disagree with me and say what you will, that’s fine, but all of the newbies out there, good luck on doing it yourself.  I wish to goodness I had obtained one right now.

That sucks...hope I don't run into that too.

What’s worse is that I found out that we are in “Administrative Processing”.  NVC’s black hole of the unknown what will happen. Nobody will tell us anything and it could last for days, weeks, months or years.  My recommendation to anyone and everyone out there, GET AN IMMIGRATION LAWYER WHEN FILING FOR A K1 VISA!!!!!!!!  I cannot stress this enough!   The likelihood of someone being dragged through the mud is so much less likely.   We have been screwed from day freaking one.   It’s so unfair.

Ah okay, that makes sense. I'll check it again in the morning, my interview is at 12.30 so maybe I get lucky and it arrives first thing in the morning!!

My thought are with you.  Good luck.  I swear it feels like family after what everyone has shared in their experience on Visa Journey. It has helped so much!  Though it had been a long journey to get where we are today, I honestly can’t say I would have a single hair on my head if it were not for everyone’s support on here.  Thanks so much to everyone.

I’m sure this questing has been asked a thousand times, I’m just lazy to go back 4,000 posts to find out. How much time should we give between the medical exam and the interview date for Philippines?  I’m sending my fiancé to Manila and was hoping I could keep him there for the week or so duration. Traveling to Manila is not just costly but hours and hours of travel time. Thanks for any advice.

I didn't use that info at all. I just printed how much was currently in the bank.

I just went through this yesterday.  It’s not common for them to provide a total of the deposits but my bank was able to provide me a list of all deposits and withdraws for the past year and in amount order.  I will have to tally the deposits and right it on the documents. The Bank officer did sign the document.  They were as helpful as they possibly could be. The officer was surprised they asked for a total of the deposits, it’s not a common request.
