If I am not mistaken you put 1 for how many times you've been married, if you just got married and that's the only marriage so far. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this one. I agree that it's all unclear. You have no idea how many times I've read my forms before submitting it. Good luck on your case. 😊

Hello @seattlejordand congratulations for NOA1! Yes, the appointment letter for biometrics should be coming in the mail pretty soon. I am waiting on mine, we have almost the same timeline. Good luck!

Best would be if you can find a way to do a rush passport renewal. Otherwise, if you included your maiden name on the I485 (can't remember if that is mandatory, since my wife isn't changing her name) then the foreign ID should be acceptable.

That being said, I saw some reports online that they will accept an expired passport. They also stated that USCIS specifically leaves out the words valid from their website about valid documents for biometrics and leaves it up to the officer to determine if it is acceptable.

EDIT: Seeing multiple reports that the expired passport is acceptable for biometrics. In fact, it is preferred. That being said, I am seeing some people making it through biometrics OK but having issues at the interview. Most of these are old (2008-2010 era), so your experience may vary.

I'm not sure what's their (USCIS) basis on not having an interview but I did hear some cases that they didn't need an interview. However, this is like 1 out of 10 cases if I am not mistaken. It would be so nice to not have the interview! But then again I don't see anything wrong on interviews as it is just questions about your bonafide marriage. What I can hope for right now is just a smooth and faster process.

I will next time. To OP, sorry for the confusion, but if you can file for AOS soon that is better. I filed as soon as my husband got his compensation from his job.

It might be roughly the same for all of the field offices. We'll see in 9 months. Haha.

So, considering the immigrant came with a K1 visa - cannot work, cannot drive - you are saying that it's his/her "responsibility to file for AOS - always has been"? Tell me, how is the immigrant gonna do the AOS without the USC petitioner's money? Are you suggesting that the immigrant borrow money from someone else because it's their "responsibility"? Take note: immigrant = cannot work.

It might just be a computer glitch if it says invalid. But I like the positive thought!

Some cases aren't always what's affordable and what not. I came with a K1 visa in 2013 and NEVER did the AOS until this month. We chose K1 because it was a faster process to get here. Although I am admitting that we should have had CR1 instead. Well it's a little too late for that and oh, I never did my AOS in 3 years and a half of being here and I did have an insurance and I still do, while waiting for green card right now.

I filed 07-05 but I still used the old forms. They accepted it, thank God. Never been to Batangas but I got relatives in Lipa. I'm just starting to read the new instruction, thanks!

Ok! I remember it being in the system immediately when I filed the I-129 so I will give it a week or so before I get nervous

I received my SMS and email notification at around 9:30 PM and I checked my case status online at 8 AM the next day and they are all there. Although it said on the email that it's better to check the online case status after receiving the hard copy in the mail. No worries, it probably is just delayed.
