TearsOfBabylon reacted to Roel in My husbands visa was denied solely on the reason we met on facebook. Is it a legal reason?
If they would deny people because they met online or because of poor English, then oh boy 90% of k1 and cr1 should be denied.

Sooo.. few months ago you wanted to deport your husband because he started acting up.
Then you wanted to bring his family (and said kids) on tourist visa.
And now you wanted to adopt those kids (which btw, isn't happening when their parents are alive).

So it kind of looks like your husband family is pretty desperate to get to the US and they might think they can immigrate through those adopted kids?

    Hey!
    Congratulations! You made it!

I'm very glad you posted your experience. Finally someone from my field office, who did NOT use the term "intimidating" for the interview in Norfolk, haha! I've read some reviews and almost everyone wrote that about a female officer there!

I got my email saying that my interview is scheduled a couple of days ago and am waiting for the letter now!

But that's another proof that they do NOT process in order of incoming, like they state on their pages. I filed AOS from K1 as well, but in December 2017!

    Hey fellow Decemberites!

Heads up from Virginia, light at the end of my tunnel.

I got the email 3 days ago:
As of August 28th we scheduled your interview.

All trackers updated to "Interview was scheduled", so now I'm waiting for the letter with the date.

My field office is Norfolk, VA!

Good luck for everyone still waiting. Seems like there are really not much of us from 12/2017 left!

Wow... courageous/fast decision, considering the fact that you are only working there since 2 weeks.
Just my 2 cents, but wouldn't it have made sense to at least wait out your probation time?

Anyhow, congrats on your job! Fingers are crossed that it will work out for you in the way you wish.

Oh, btw... because of your 90 days no off time... if your interview is popping up, your employer will give you hours or a day off. It's an appointment with the government/immigration to secure your legal status. Every employer knows the importance of such.
The 90 days no off rule applies more for people who come bug for days off all the time, like having to go to aunt fanny's birthday, etc.
I told my boss that my interview might come up any time and they said no prob at all, we'll work around. I got that 90 day rule running as well.
    So.... no worries.
And since you're still in training they'll live without you for a couple of hours.

That said by someone who worked in HR for 10 years.

We had our interview last week at the San Diego field office.  As I mentioned in a previous post, we have had no updates to our case past "Fingerprint Fee Received".  All of a sudden the appointment letter showed up.  We kind of scrambled to get everything together but we did it.  Interview lasted about 25 minutes.  We went in together and did all questions together.  The officer was very young and was very nice.  He asked a lot of questions about our application and then asked about our relationship (how we met, where we live, questions about our condo, etc).  Then he asked to see what documents we brought.  The letter said to bring copies of everything we submitted with our application and he didn't even touch it.  We showed him our joint account info (phone bill & electric bill) as well as my 401k showing my husband as the beneficiary and our 2017 tax return which we filed jointly.  We brought some photos of us since he arrived in the US and the officer asked us to tell him about each one (who was with us, where was it taken, etc).  He said that as of today (last Thursday) my husband is officially a US Resident and he'll get his greencard in the next couple weeks.  So glad it's done and we don't have to do anymore paperwork for 2 years.  For those of you with busy field offices or people who haven't had any movement on your case, have faith!  The processing times for San Diego are 12-16 months and we waited 8 and never received any case updates.

Hello!!! I haven't been there for a long time as well:) My work is wasting all my time, i cannot find time to write here... Mine is stuck "case is ready to be scheduled" since january, and honestly I am not expecting it soon, since my office is one of the busiest ones. Soo, i am not thinking anything about aos process right now, ead gave me the chance to live my life like a normal resident. So, when interview comes, it comes. I wish everyone good luck here, and hope that aos process will finalize without any problems, and as soon as it can for everyone. I will inform you guys when my interview is scheduled. Take care everybody!!

Mine in Germany was very good as well, but no one cares here. I have a loan to finish paying there, too. Plus a dental procedure coming up here, which is 5 digits on the bill. Yet I'm procrastinating it, to recover from all expenses we had so far. One thing at a time.

You'll do fine! At least you have a job now. One thing less to worry.

Unfortunately there were no openings when I was finally available. I have a commitment of a year with the company I am with but I may like it (I can quit but would never be hired again however if I do a whole year with them and move on somewhere else and want to come back in a few years I could likely) and stay if not I will apply for a job at the library if one comes open. The job I am doing now is second shift and I can not change to an earlier shift until I have done a full year. lol

I am just a bit curious that, I see people come here with tourist visa and get married and get their GC. But most people here first applied K visa which takes almost a year and spent almost 1k dollars. It seems no point to apply for a K1 visa because you can use a tourist visa to get the GC quicker and cheaper.
What do you guys think ?

TearsOfBabylon got a reaction from GazLisa in AOS vs. Expiration date of medical - latest filing?
    Hello Community!

I've got a little bit of confusion regarding the time for filing AOS before the medical expires.

    My data:
    Visa approved: 08/08/2017
    Entry USA: 09/22/2017
    Wedding: 10/26/2017
Admission stamp in passport until: 12/20/2017
Expiration date of medical according to visa in passport: 01/17/2018

We wanted to wait until January to file AOS, because then my husband will have the new tax return.
Since he only has one so far, which was enough for K1 (just had to submit the most current one), we wanted to wait for the new one so we can provide 2.

    My questions:
Does it bring any problems for AOS if we go past the date of the admission stamp?
I've read of so many people on here who did it YEARS after they entered, so I figured a month wouldn't be a problem. Please correct me if my thought is wrong! Is it enough to mail out the AOS pack before the medical is expired, or do we have to have a NOA1 dated before that date? What is the latest date you'd suggest to mail out the package? Do they actually need 2 tax returns, or are we good with the same stuff we've submitted with the I-129f?
I don't want to have to take another medical just because of waiting for the tax return.

Thank you for some input and greetings from Virginia!
    Bine

    Olechka, hi!
So nice to hear good news from you!
I had my interview today. Well, in general everything went ok, but the woman interviewing us was so non emotional so we do not know if she was happy with what we gave her or not. She said she will review the case and we will receive reply (confirmation/request for additional evidence) by mail.
    Hopefully everything will be ok!

"Spass" haha.

The EAD/AP are processed at the NBC, but the AOS is going through your local field office, not NBC.
Look up the processing times for your field office. It's the one, where you've had your biometrics at.

    Glueckwunsch!

    Mine took 136 days.
It was in the mail about a week later. And don't let them confuse you by status updates and alerts.
My AP is still on received and I got the tracking number a week after the card had arrived.

Now get off the couch - good luck job hunting!
