TearsOfBabylon got a reaction from twoDs in I-129F March 2017 Filers #2 Cause we are awesome
Just the passport and a print of the I-94.
I brought a birth certificate just in case.
That's it!
Check your I-94. For a friend it was online after 3 days already!

So happy to come on here and see so many approvals and POEs and others getting close! My guy has been here about five weeks now. We got married 10/22 and his AOS packet off in the mail yesterday. Such a relief to have that done, except for the stress of once again hoping it's all there and done correctly! He's anxious for that work authorization, though I quite like having him here stuck with me

Awawawwwwwwwaaaaaa!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I'm so happy for you both! May you be blessed with luck, health, LOVE and HAPPINESS for the rest of your life!
Wonderful pics, and tell Ann kudos for her taste in the dress. It's wonderful, mine was that style too, just less fluffy (tall girl would have looked like a marshmallow haha)! Wonderful! I love it!
Now relax, AOS will come soon enough! :))
Haha, you had strangers too! We had so many people in Vegas yelling congratulations, even hugging lol
And some asian tourists asking us for pictures here and there hahahah
Ahhhhh I'm so happy for you!!!
@Eric&Olya: Your turn now!

We got our marriage license today! Everything was fast and smooth, took maybe 15 minutes. If Eric had a clearer handwriting and I didn't have a Cyrillic letter in my divorce decree number, it would've been about 10

Soooooooo busy anymore, no time to play on VJ
We got our SSN in the mail on Thursday. Noyce!
Family flew in on Friday. I worked a shift on Friday also, so after work, and some laundry, then to bed for 3 hrs just to get up early to run to the beach and decorate and hang electronics in palm trees for video to be seen by our family in the PH, rush home to get the bride, then back to the beach just as the eastern sky over the beach was showing first light. Morning sunrise wedding was really a lot of fun! The wind was so strong, destroyed my hair but Ann stayed gorgeous! Beach goers stopping to take pictures and wish us well during the ceremony...... taking pictures and giving thumbs up LOL It was so formally informal at the same time. Ceremony was about an hour long as we wrote our own vows that took extra time, but the fact of the matter is on 11/11 at 0723EST, we said 'I DO!'
This is the finish line in the truest sense.

yes , of course. at the moment your only legal proof of the name change is the marriage certificate. I personally used it both at the SSN to get the SSN on the married name , and at the bank so I change my name on the account.
for the bank I said it before it can vary from bank to bank but SSN will definitely take it in consideration , as @pajobrasaid too
cheers!

TearsOfBabylon reacted to Georgia16 in Marriage and changing status from a visa waiver entry
I am SO against that it is allowed to adjust from a tourist visa! Hopefully they will end that.
That being said you can adjust as you are in the states now.
That you run out of you authorized stay is "ok" try and send in the papers for your AOS as soon as possible that will give you an authorized stay until they have made a decision. You will not be able to work or leave the country and return until you get your EAD/AP card which you apply for along with the AOS package that will take around 4+ months to get them so just be aware that you will not be able o work and in most states you can get a DL either.

Hi Bine,

That's exactly the same here. Even the military. I've got an ID because I'm a spouse, but I can't have the new name on until I bring a GC to verify. Weird!
That's why I'm curious about how @piranda did that!

Hmmmmm.... might as well go back to the SSN office on Monday.
Sighs... then my military ID will still be in maiden name.
I guess the pedantic German in me will have to accept the fact that not everything is straight hehe

I am back !!
Wow, I see our March filers even got a second thread ! haha
Anyway, just a quick update, got 3 hours to kill waiting for my connecting flight in Atlanta, just made POE.
Very easy, first officer was really kind, made a few jokes about he had to fit all his belongings into a few suitcases when he moved down to Atlanta, took my fingerprints and photo. Walked me over to the second officer, which processed me for like 5 mins and just reminded me that I can't leave the US until I have my GC or AP.
That was it, quick and painless, no issues.
Now for all the other things to come ... wedding is the 5th of Jan 2018, then vacation until I get my EAD

Hmmmmm, so I just go back there BEFORE I get put on bank account etc.?
Will they accept my new name when the SSN is in married name?
I'm confused now haha
Oh yeah Spätzle, I'm down for those any time!

I didn't go to change it yet, because I got told to come back after I have a valid photo ID with the married name. At the DEERS office (military) they told me the same.
Maybe that's a state thing?
Haha great, I was in Timisoara several times. Does Jimbolia or Krabati ring a bell? Bulgarus, Lenauheim?
That's the "cities" my relatives were spread at!

Holy cowballs, 4,5 hours! O_O My wait was max. 30 minutes! Glad you made it!
Great to see you here again, Janet! And even more glad that the long road is leading to a final destination now! I hope you'll have a super smooth AOS to make up for the screwed up K-1! Hang in there, brave girl! Huggsie from VA!
Ha, I saw that too, when I was a kid. I had relatives around Timisoara, so my mom and I have gone there by car 8 times when I was little and the iron curtain was still up. Experiences I don't want to relive.
Question: Did they let you change your last name on the SSN without having a green card?? How did you do that?
My military ID got made in maiden name as well, since I have no GC and they had to take my passport. Marriage Cert didn't help either.
So I'm facing being put on everything needed for AOS with my maiden name and run and change it all after GC arrived. We wanted to avoid that actually. Blaghhhh
