It seems like a lot of January filers have been getting impatient with their EADs, and I noticed it's mostly those adjusting from B2. Is this visa generally quick to obtain?

As someone adjusting from a K1 visa, I am not expecting my EAD at around day 70 something (getting an interview sched was more of a miracle) and I see fellow K1 visa holders aren't getting impatient as well. I think it's because they know how looong this process can take. And the AOS process is supposed to be longer! At least now we're with our spouses, so the wait isn't as stressful as when we we applied for the K1.

Just hang in there, fellow January filers, and don't keep checking your case as it'll just stress you out. Many 2017 filers are still waiting. Enjoy all your free time with your partner, start a new hobby, try something new, learn new things! Once you get your EAD, you'll wish you didn't spend this waiting time stressing out so much.

@Melodica256WOW!!! Congrats after such a long wait! Happy for You All!!
HELLO Fellow Aprilites! I hope everybody has been well! Kseniia and I were married on January 28th and are loving life these days! The process was very hard and trying; so glad we all stuck it out and hung in there ... looking back now really wasn't that bad, but you couldn't tell us that in the middle of it. I remember this time last year getting ready to file and how nervous we all were. Time really flies .. so now were in process on AOS. I sent packages off to USCIS Wednesday and back on the waiting game, but at least our significant others are with us. Take care ALL!

So here are my check lists for the different forms. As you'll see, I only sent my birth certificate for the main AOS application, and I didn't send any originals, always copies, as advised.

First of all... Congratulations on your approval! More than well deserved after the long wait

Regarding your question, I'm assuming you still didn't get your passport back? If that's the case, then you only need to wait and make a copy of the visa in there when you get it. You don't need to open the brown envelope (and you SHOULDN'T under any circumstances), since the visa is just a page in your passport. Scan or copy that and you should be good to go regarding your shipping company.

Best of luck with the rest of the process.

Your Visa should be attached to a page in your passport which will not be included in the mysterious brown envelope.  Hope that helps!

For Eric it's a lot of adjusting to the new family members, it's not easy to get two quite grown up children all of a sudden when you never had your own ones. The kids are adapting to the new school, my daughter is doing good, making new friends, even got an excellence roll to her own surprise. The level of academic challenge is much lower here. My son is too absent-minded and introverted in general, so he is not adapting as easily as she is but I'm sure he'll catch up sooner or later. As for me, I'm just trying to make everyone comfortable

I made a copy of both, the sworn translation (since I only have one signed by the translator) and the certified copy of the marriage certificate that they gave us on the register office.

So my POE was in Atlanta on 25th December, we applied for my SSN on January 3rd. Received the SSN card in the mail on January 9th and opened my bank account, got a loan to build credit, my state ID and marriage license yesterday and we’re hoping to get married this Friday. Things have been CRAZY and happening crazy fast lol. I hope everyone is doing good!! ❤️

@Tatiana&D.S., @Swissmiss82, my fellow Asturian @Kirin2002, @pajobra: Thank you all for the good wishes

@Marta Proniagina, @vcpdragon, @Dorice: Congrats on your visa approval

@_Mia_: Welcome to the US! So happy you finally made it after all the struggle

@Melodica256, @Carmine N Agnes: Huge congrats on finally getting that NOA2  Best of luck with the NVC stage
Regarding the question about NVC emailing you, or not, they seem to be pretty inconsistent about the way they work. Some people got an email (supposedly that works if your case is electronic) and normally you'll get a letter in the mail (our case). However, it's my understanding that both things are send away the same day your package leaves NVC and is sent to the Embassy... so calling to get your number is always a good option if you want to try and speed things up.

@Keith & Monica: lovely pictures of POE and wedding. Glad you are finally together and happy
    Regarding your AOS questions...

Part 1 question 22A: Nonimmigrant Visa Holder
23C: Fiance Visa Holder (or K1 Visa Holder, but my PDF version didn't allow numbers)
24: Blank, since the status didn't change

    Part 2 question 2: NO

    Hope that helps...

Some light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel news... yesterday, my fiancee had her interview at the Bangkok embassy and... Visa granted!!!!

My deepest heartfelt thanks to all those here on VisaJourney who provided help and support during what has been one of the most arduous and anxiety-generating experiences I've ever gone through.  The good news is that there is an end and my hope for all here is that this process finds your relationships stronger than when you started and that the happy endings you seek are all attained sooner rather than later.

I wish to personally thank @Trinab80 , @LabOz , @AnaMolina , @John & Rose , @Estibaliz  and so many others for our candid conversations; without you, getting through this journey would have been so much more difficult.

I know that this process is not yet complete; there are still many more hurdles to tackle before it's over... but I can tell you that the happiness of getting to this point is all but overwhelming.

I am leaving on a 1:30 AM flight tomorrow to be with my love, pre-planned since we haven't seen each other since September 2016, arriving on our second engagement anniversary!!!
Unfortunately, I will not be able to bring her back with me but, hopefully, in the next couple of months or so, I can return to Bangkok and finally bring her here...
