kcrb got a reaction from MamaBear in US VISA APPROVED, how long for DHL to get it?
It was a Mexico specific question, so I was saying everyone who said it would be two weeks was incorrect. Your CEAC information was correct, but non-specific generalizations that do not apply to DHL and/or Mexico can be very confusing and muddle the truth. And, it's  not just my experience, but the truth of the embassy in ciudad Juárez. They operate faster than most embassies and Mexico has different requirements for different things. I should've used different words to describe, but I have seen people get some horrible advice on the this forum and I didn't want OP to become discouraged based on misinformation.

CDJ is high traffic and they typically only ask you 5-10 questions. Most are just how did you meet, where do you (the petitioner) work, where he plans to stay, when you plan to marry, have you ever been in the US illegally, do you have tattoos, have  you ever done drugs, etc. Nothing too much. If he has any immigration violations or has been denied a visa in the past he needs to be prepared to speak about that as well. We wrote a really detailed review in the consulate review section with what they asked. Nothing invasive, everything they had on the paper in front of them that we provided (I-130,  I-864. and DS-260). Many other people also left reviews with the questions they asked, it was really helpful for us.

All visa applications will be processed through Ciudad Juarez. No way around that, unfortunately. We applied for a CR 1 visa and not K1, but an officer did ask her if I was there. I'm sure if your fiancé explains that you would've loved to be here but couldn't get leave because you're in the military, I don't think the CO will object. It's a legitimate excuse.

The picture of the visa you posted is definitely fake. Beyond fake. The most fake I have ever seen. The picture on passport printed visas are B&W. the beginning line of code at the bottom will also say something like VISUSA>>>>

lastly, the only people that have the power to issue visas and put them into your passport is a US embassy or consulate, which this person does. It work for, as this letter is false. This is not a letter you would get from the Dept. of State and it is clearly poorly done and photoshopped. I would report the  person who made this to the authorities, and I would not travel with this to the US. you will be turned away and you will get nailed with misrepresentation and fraud.

No, there is no estimated time because you need to wait for a visa to become available for your visa category. Your priority date (Found on NOA1) is 22 Nov 16, but visas are only available for 15 Jul 15 and prior, meaning there is a 1 year 5 month gap between your priority date and the priority date that has visas available. It is difficult to estimate time because it depends on the number of applications that are between your priority date and the priority date in which there are visas available.

The CO conducting your interview will have a copy of everything you submitted to USCIS. Anything new will need to be printed, absolutely no phones in the consulate. Many times, they do not ask for supplemental evidence, as they do not have a lot of time with you, but just bring a few pages of chats and call logs, not all.  I sent my wife with a binder full of information and they didn't ask for anything except what was in the I-130.

For your type of Visa category they are currently processing July 2015, it means that probably you will wait at least a year and 5 months before reaching NVC stage (if you get approved), but is not easy to set up a real estimated time.
You are under a limited category, so you need to wait for them to be available.

And your timeline says you get your NOA1 in December, so your priority date can't be November ?¿

If you have access to WhatsApp, they have a very convenient export feature so you can print your conversation logs, or go through them digitially and decide what you want to print. I don't know if Facebook does this, but it was super easy for me to print my conversations with my wife.

As the person mentioned above, tax returns are perfectly okay if they are accompanied by W2s. They just want to make sure that the income you're reporting is accurate to what you actually make.

kcrb reacted to USC1961 in No race option for brown skinned latinos
The government asks these questions for a few reasons.  First off for pure statistical purposes.  Second in some cases it helps identify the applicant.  Lastly it's to ensure that they aren't discriminating against one group or another.  Those are perhaps the main reasons.  But indeed, the question is difficult for many to answer 100%.  So you just choose the best option.

Case in point I'm in almost the same exact boat you are.  Since I have great grandparents from Spain, I could tick the box for Hispanic.  The thing is I'm white from European descent so no one would believe me.  The stereotype in America is If you aren't browned skin and wear a sombrero,  you couldn't possibly be from Spanish descent.  So it's easier just to mark white.  Even though it doesn't fully answer questions about my ethnicity (Catalan, English and Irish), it does correctly identify me.

In the end I don't believe this question is used as a lie detector as some of the other questions are.  Nor do I think an adjudicator or a CO is going to spend more than a second or 2 on this question.  To the OP:  If I were in your shoes just mark Latino.  It may not be the perfect answer from your perspective, but that is the word that would be used to describe anyone from El Salvador in the USA.

It is worth applying for, but one thing to keep in mind, even if you are granted a tourist visa, you can still be denied at POE. In the end, it is the CBP officer that has the final say of whether you are admissible or not. My wife was approved for a B2 about 5 years ago but has been denied at POE. Since you are flying, you will be detained in the airport until they can put you on the next flight home. Be very wary.

K3 is obsolete, you should go the CR1 route. CR1 takes between 8-14 months, on average.

From a technical aspect...yes you can file, the 2 years is from the date of filing, not when they actually process it.

That said, Nigeria is a very tough embassy to get through, so I highly recommend reading through the guides and front loading the petition. If the last time you saw him was 2 years ago, then they are likely to question the authenticity of the relationship. I really think it would be beneficial to have more/recent face time for such a difficult embassy.

kcrb got a reaction from R and KJ in No Update From NVC Since We Sent The Documents
The NVC only notifies you if they need more information (RFE), when the case closes, and when the interview is scheduled. Otherwise, you need to call to get updates. If you do not have your NVC case number or invoice number, you need to get the USCIS receipt number, and from there they will give you the case number and invoice number. Processing time is 11 weeks from scan date, expect it to be longer than that. When we submitted paperwork to the NVC the time was quoted at 60 days, it took 11.5 weeks for case complete, and that was after we requested a supervisor review because it took them too long to review the DS-260.

The NVC works at their own pace, and will be very short with answers they give you. Unfortunately they are severely backlogged, so be prepared to wait at least 11 weeks, most likely 12-16. If it isn't done in 11 weeks, call and ask for a supervisor review and it will be done within 42 days.

The beneficiary can call as long as they have the case number/USCIS receipt number (on NOA1) and the date of birth of the beneficiary. The person will ask if you're the applicant or the beneficiary, and then they'll ask for your name. I've waited on hold for 45+ minutes, so be patient and don't hang up if it takes too long, someone will come.

edit: as great as the CEAC tool is, it really doesn't do much for you. Mine said "At NVC" until my case got forwarded to the embassy, when it switched to "READY". The NVC had contacted me with the interview date before it had switched to ready. Sometimes you'll get the ready before, but that just means you're waiting for an interview to become available, but you will have recieved the notice of case closed before they mail it to the embassy.

There have been many instances of people being arrested by ICE at the steps of a courthouse. I'd recommend contacting an immigration attorney as soon as possible, make sure you find a good one. Even if they cannot undo the situation, you need information. Do not unregister to vote until you understand your rights and what you can and cannot do. Not to be rude, but I'd make sure you have a deep understanding of the US and the rights extended to permanent residents before doing anything further. Ignorance is and never will be an excuse for adults in the US. The damage is already done, waiting a little longer to deregister to vote will not hurt you. You've already committed voter fraud, so it won't matter at this point.
