My fiance and I are both in our early 20's and like most people our age, we do not write letters to each other. In fact, our sole means of communication is Facebook messenger. We talk every single day through text on there from 4 to 8 hours depending on her work schedule. We have over 100,000 messages back and forth according to Facebook. I know I'm getting ahead of myself because now that I'm home from my 2nd visit to her we will just now start this visa process and this requirement isn't until later. But I am wondering, do we need to start communicating in other ways? Or will FB suffice? Thank you.

If you have access to WhatsApp, they have a very convenient export feature so you can print your conversation logs, or go through them digitially and decide what you want to print. I don't know if Facebook does this, but it was super easy for me to print my conversations with my wife.

Print whatever you have...no need to intentionally use other forms of contact. Phone call logs, skype call logs, etc. are good as well.

FB does have a tool to export all your chats, but honestly it's not that great. However, no CO is going ot sit there and read 100,000 messages. I printed one screen of messages from every month we were together. Even that is a lot and probably excessive, but not unreasonable IMHO.

Do not worry about things like Facebook. It doesn't prove what you need it to. You only need to prove ongoing relationship in a minor capacity, and usually the "letter of intent" from each of you as well as the statement of how you met and that you're in an on-going relationship will suffice.

The most important pieces of evidence for the initial K1 are your passport stamps, i94 info (which is now a required part of the latest version of the form), and anything additional 3rd party such as credit card statements or boarding passes.

For the most part, only evidence that supports the claim that you've visited each other in the past 2 years is important.

With each piece of evidence you submit, always think "does this prove we visited each other in the past 2 years?", and you'll be fine. Things like pictures are secondary and only back up a claim.... for example if you have a boarding pass showing you traveled to Chicago, and then have a photo of you two together standing in front of a landmark in Chicago from that same date.

So don't worry about things like Facebook so much. As long as you send in the passport stamps, i94 info, and other additional evidence to prove you've met up in the past 2 years, you're good.
