How long does it take for her to receive an email? From the time the NVC received the petition?

No idea. We didn't call at all, just waiting for the process to happen. Calling doesn't speed things up since you have to wait for the petition to reach the embassy and for an interview anyway. Its hard to be patient though, I can understand that.

It might take 8 months but the average is 6 months. NOA2 is average 3 months 10 days. For whatever reason, some of us (like me) take longer than the average. If you've waited 4 months, you're close. We know that something like 98% of couples get approved at this stage, so that's not a concern. The hardest part is almost over for you.

The bit that concerns me now is the number of files that seem to be going missing on their way to the embassy. There have been a few posts recently about petitions being sent from NVC in early May that still haven't been received at their respective embassies. Mine is still waiting for a little over 2 weeks now just saying "In Transit" on the tracker.

  3. I just had my medical today. It included a full physical, a blood and urine test (for STD's), and a chest X-ray. Came to AU$539 (about US$400), which is better than I was expecting. I got lucky as the only vaccination that I was missing was the current flu shot, which I got for free as a health professional.

On the down side I'm still waiting for Sydney to receive the petition - it still shows on the tracker as 'In Transit'. Hopefully soon so I can book my interview!

For everyone still waiting - be patient and pray! It'll happen soon I'm sure!

@Andrew&Elizabeth, @Alysia&Luis actually got it right. The DS-160 asks for the I-129F NOA1 receipt number :)

DS-160 specifically says the following on the left column next to the Application Receipt/Petition Number box:

    ****

    Help: Application Receipt/Petition Number

Your application receipt/petition number was given to you by the Department of Homeland Security’s United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) after you filed your petition application at a USCIS Service Center. The application receipt/petition number is 13 characters long and the first three characters are letters.

Wow thanks for that! I'm glad I said something so that I could be corrected and fill out a new DS-160! Hopefully that doesn't screw me up at all.

My apartment is pretty empty already. I've sold like 100 pieces of clothing and small items on eBay since NOA1.
6 boxes full of clothes, my favorite CD's, some mugs and plush dolls and of course my vinyls and signed stuff (and the giant pile of band t-shirts) are packed in 5 boxes so far. 1 already arrived, 1 left to fill up.

I'll start giving away furniture once NOA2 is here.

Plan is to live in my place like in a camp ground by August latest, so I can paint the walls and MAYBE be out by 31st of August. If my landlord lets me.
I need to inform her once NOA2 comes.... we've primarly agreed on end of September, but IF it goes smoothly from now on, I could make it out by end of August and save a month of rent.

It sucks not to have a date... but do you think my planned time schedule could make sense?

I read somewhere for Australia that the average time from embassy receiving the packet to interview is between 10 and 28 days, but that they quote 1-2 months. So if you allow 3 weeks from NOA2 to NVC, 1 week NVC to embassy, then 4 weeks embassy to interview (in which time you get your medical done), and one week for passport to arrive from the embassy after the interview, you're looking at 9 weeks from NOA2 to having the visa in hand. Then its just a case of booking your flights.

Hope that helps you plan things out!

I agree with you it is absolutely ridiculous! to take a week off work just because we have to go for an interview in a different province! which flights are not exactly cheap to go there twice! I am in the same boat.. not looking forward to it.. but at least its a neat city to visit. I am looking forward to that! I am hoping a week is long enough. I may book an AIR BNB you should check it out .. I notied some amazing condos (luxury) for lower than hotel prices! if you are not on too much of a budget! that's the only part I'm excited about haha. Do you know if there is a fee for the interview? Or just the medical.. I was reading about a fee for the interview in Australia.. I'm hoping Canada is not like that too?

The fee was for the DS-160 - I'm pretty sure its US$265 for everyone.

Yeah I doubt it. Sorry but I think its just luck of the draw. We all know cases aren't done in order. You would think Canada would be an easy country too wouldn't you. I am in a bitter mood. All I do is cry, cry and cry some more. I start work again today and I really could care less. I would be happy just quitting now except I need the money to pay the exorbitant medical fees, a flight a week or more stay in Montreal because they are so bleeping stupid and don't care about us in the middle of Canada. Sorry I should stay away from here and everywhere. *goes back into her hidey hole*

Why the week to stay in Montreal? My interview is 4000km away in Sydney and I'm only planning to be there overnight.

Of course there is luck involved too. Just be glad you've seen your fiance!

Yeah, if it is only 3 weeks until you get the case number it really doesn't make sense to call.
So they alert you via email when the case is about to be transferred to the embassy?

Because I want to have my medical at least 2-3 weeks before scheduling the interview, so they have all results in hand already.

Yes, they send an email to the petitioner when they are mailing the packet to the embassy. It contains the case number etc. I used that to create my account on http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com and from there paid my fee etc. Once they receive it I'll be able to use that same site to see my appointment. For the medical I just had to tell them that I had my case number.

Congrats and hope everything is fine. Did you expedite your petition? We applied the same day and we do not have the NOA2

We didn't apply for expedited processing. I'm just guessing that our background checks and everything was super smooth. Being Australian might have made the background checks less intense than for someone from a higher-fraud country.

So did your case go through NVC already? Asking because I don't see that in your timeline ;)

    Good luck! Almost done.

Yep, NVC emailed my fiancee last night with the case number. Calling them to harass really won't change anything so we just let it be. You get the email as soon as they send it on to the embassy either way, so you have the case number before it arrives in your country.

Does anyone know an easier way to get through FB messages? I'm trying to get to January of this year but there's so many messages and it's so long. I can't get to it and it will take about 3 hours of scrolling.  I've tried it on both my phone and web browser. The search function doesn't seem to work well on the browser and there isn't anything for FB messenger that I can see to search? Anyone have any advice?

You can either use the search function on www.messenger.com or you can download your entire facebook content (100+mb) and then open up the .zip file they give you and in there are chat logs in text format.

So no changes from Monday, but here is the new info. The new scan should have everyone's case number on it.

The 3 cases received on the 1st doesnt make a lot of sense since it was a random Wednesday. Degie from the Feb scans page thinks you might have missed some cases - possibly because the date was formatted differently (ie 03/1, 3/01 etc). My case was received on the 1st I believe, but isn't in either scan group.

  13. The easiest way is to actually download all of your facebook content in the form of an archive. It will take a long time depending on how many pictures you've posted over your years, but it actually downloads you a text copy of your entire chat history. That way you can legitimately sort through it all and find the areas you want to screenshot, then use the messenger.com search function to find those exact phrases on the website and screenshot them that way.

I agree with you @Andrew&Elizabeth about getting licensed in the US. I am a Registered Nurse here in the Philippines and I don't even know where to start. A lot of things goes through my mind (K1 visa, interview at the embassy, packing, taking IELTS exam, reviewing for licensure exam). It seems like everything is a priority! :dead: My fiancé and I have 18 hours time difference, 5299 miles apart.

I'm not sure if its the same for nurses, but I'd check about whether you need to get your educational credentials assessed by an organisation in the US. I had to prove to the licensing body that my education was equivalent before I became eligible to sign up for the national exam, and I'm fairly certain that the same applies for 'foreign educated' nurses. In the end I had to pick up a bunch of professional and undergraduate units online through US universities in order to reach the level they considered equivalent. Just a heads up!

    Tricky would be an understatement:)

I wake up at 5.15 every day to talk to my fiance for an hour, except Friday when I wake up at 4.00 to spend more time with him at least once a week. All my friends think I am crazy:) But it's the only time that works for us. So, sleep is my second biggest dream, and luckily it will come true together with the biggest one:)

Same for me. I get up at about 6am to talk to her for an hour and a half (I start work at 9), then by the time I get off at 6pm I get to call to wake her up and talk to her for another hour or so, before she starts work at 8:30. The 12 hour time difference is surprisingly not too bad during the week, but on the weekend its a problem if one of us wants to sleep in (normally her).
