Kate + Evgeny reacted to cumulonimbus in December 2016 Filers (merged)
This wait between NOA2 and NVC receipt of our case is a weird one. No app to sporadically check every day! Also, everything we could do in this waiting period we have already done or is in progress. Hopefully NVC will finally receive the case and we can get a case number soon.
Good luck to everyone in the coming week!

Hey all! I'm an early December filer and my fiance had his interview in Bogota on Tuesday, May 2nd and we were approved!!
I just wanted to share my experience. Throughout my whole K1 process, I was living with my fiance in Colombia. (I have a work visa) and the whole time I feared that they wouldn't approve us because they would ask like why wouldn't we get married in Colombia and apply for the C1 visa.. and ..well .. in the end they never asked about us living together during the interview and all they asked was a bunch of yes/no questions like: if he had ever married before, if he had kids, if he had traveled to the US before, and how we met. It was a very quick interview.
I understand not everyone is in our situation where we were able to live in the same country together and do the process together, but I wish everybody luck! This whole process isn't easy and at times can be scary because you invest a lot of money and time into gathering everything perfectly. So I am with you! My two cents is as long as you have a legitimate relationship whether it's long distance or living abroad together and you've got everything (documents) together, you've got nothing to fear! I know everybody here on VisaJourney seek help and comfort from other folks and we're all in this together. I support you all and wish you all the best with your journey!

Kate + Evgeny reacted to JFH in Want to live with boyfriend in USA, but he's still in divorce waiting period. Any other options than wait?
Agree with the above. If you really cannot bear to be apart from him, then he should look into going to the Netherlands. After all, being together is what counts, not being in the USA, right?
But what's the rush? And why are you so keen to live somewhere you have never been? You might hate it. Come and visit first and spend more time getting to know him. It'll also look better on your future visa application (assuming you stay together) if you wait a while as he has recently divorced. Getting married so quickly after divorce is seen as a sign of desperation and you do sound very desperate right now. Marriage is a huge commitment. Take it slowly. Don't rush into it just to solve your housing situation.

I know you're asking about coming to be in the States with him, but that would be very difficult. Any chance he could come and be with you somewhere outside the States? I came to be with my fiance outside the States during the K1 visa wait. It's very difficult and hard to survive at all sometimes, but at least you'd be together. Just a thought. I wish you guys luck! <3

That means that the case was sent by the petitioner, then the USCIS received it and sent an NOA1 notice indicating it had received the package and possibly forwarded it to another facility (at this point the check was cashed and the case passed very minimal requirements like sending the right fee amount, signing the most important forms, and not sending it to a totally wrong address). Since then, nothing has been done with it by the USCIS. That is, no NOA2, no RFE, no further action yet. I hope that makes sense.

Hi there! Sorry, I just realized i never answered your question. The "Others' (having a Lost flashback now) are comprised of things like the USCIS receiving petitioners' responses to RFEs, somebody submitting updates or name changes to their case, USCIS mailing or transferring authority of the case to another agency, and notices of decisions about a case being mailed, among others. Often many "Other" things are done in one day and very little else, and other days only a few "Others" are added versus many approvals and RFEs. Perhaps it has something to do with who is working that day, or a bunch of a certain type of case were sent to another department for a different sort of action, or maybe they just decided to focus on different issues (processing received updates, or something) on that particular day. But this is all really all just speculation on my part. The real answer is essentially, "Who the hell knows?"

So disappointing...I hope the CSC works really hard the rest of the week to make up for this haha
The 'other' number seems very high. Is that things like RFE documents received by the CSC? Thanks for doing this scan.

If you didn't file your taxes because you weren't required to file, then you need to provide a letter explaining why you did not file. Nothing fancy...just explain that you had no income and didn't need to file. Sign and date the letter.
The joint sponsor's transcript is only needed for her affidavit.

Kate + Evgeny reacted to pajobra in Rfe sent
A moderator moved it from one forum to another forum as it was more suited for the topic of your thread. From what I have seen is that turnaround time is fairly quick on RFE's about a week to 3 weeks depending on the rfe's Hang in there you guys will make it. This is just one little bump in the road to happiness.

Kate + Evgeny reacted to Ash.1101 in K1 Visa Second Interview
AP is a broad term that covers any step that requires processing. Whether it's taking the passport from point A to point B, printing the visa, doing background checks, looking at more papers, applying the visa into the passport, etc. Most people don't actually ever see the approved status, as it changes to AP to fast because they're working on the visa at the moment. After AP, you'll see ISSUED, and that's when it'll actually be ready for pick up.
Ideally since you're K-1. You may see the case go from Immigrant AP to a case creation date of a new day, then change to Non-Immigrant READY and then Non-Immigrant AP, once the info in CEAC changes from Immigrant to Non-Immigrant, you're pretty much days away from issued.

Okay, fellow December filers. Since it looks like nobody is updating the December scans now (for good reasons -- fiance time is most important!), I've decided I will take it over for a while. @geowrian has been amazing enough to send me his awesome scanning method and show me how to use it, so thank you SO MUCH!
It took me a while to figure it out, scan, and extract and analyze the data, so this scan is from approximately 1600 this afternoon. Since at that time tonight's data had (obviously) not been available yet, it is actually data for last week. Here's that information, as well as a breakdown what specific actions were taken on each day of that past week.

Speaking of this ... if it stresses people out maybe this is a bad idea, but if people here want, and if someone will show me how, I would be willing to learn to do those scans and post them for a while. Does anyone know how long that takes each time and what it entails?

Here is some information about the Case Number which NVC assigns!
Case Number: The National Visa Center (NVC) gives each immigrant petition a case number. This number has three letters followed by ten digits (numbers). The three letters are an abbreviation for the overseas embassy or consulate that will process the immigrant visa case (for example, GUZ for Guangzhou, CDJ for Ciudad Juarez)..
The digits tell us exactly when NVC created the case. For example a case with the number MNL2001747003 would be a case assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Manila. 2001 is the year in which NVC received the case from USCIS (formerly INS). The petition was received at the NVC on September 1st, which is the 247th day of the year, so 747 represents the ordinal date (247) plus 500. The 003 shows that it was the third case created for Manila on that day. This case number is not the same as the USCIS receipt number, which is written on the Notice of Action, Form I-797..

Don't worry about it, @AkesAngel! We understand you're with your fiance and children and that's by far the most important. We all appreciate the work you've been doing with these scans so much, and hope you have been having a fantastic time! If you want to take over the process again that's okay, but if it's a burden for you in any way I would be happy to keep going, because I am actually enjoying doing it. It's giving me something to "do" about the application status while we're waiting for a response, and I find that I learn more by doing it myself. But either way is fin; just let me know what you'd like to do.
