ayuness reacted to mindthegap in NO Receipt Letter, USCIS refuse to schedule info pass
Not true, but they can be total morons about giving them. If there is a genuine need to have one then it generally isn't a problem, but the main issue is you are just another barcode to them. The majority simply don't care how much this impacts peoples lives in a negative manner.
Welcome to USCIS.
You need to keep checking the infopass site, at odd times - midnight, 5am, 6am, 9am - especially on a monday morning - until something appears. If you have to travel to a different area/city as that is the only appointment, then do so. Alternatively try a walk in once we hit february.
My honest advice would be to not bother with phoning them - many of them make it up on the spot, many are just plain wrong, and some lie.

It's been almost 2 months since USCIS received my case and still no NOA yet, but I'm so relieved that I finally have an appointment to get I-551 stamp on my passport this week, a week before my green card expires. If the USCIS office near you isn't accepting walk in request or scheduling infopass appointment, call USCIS toll number and they will bypass it in their system. Someone from USCIS will call you after 3 days and will set up an appointment on any day and time that works for you. Got mine on this coming Thursday at 3:30 pm.

I just got my NOA (Extension Letter for 18 months )last day of 2018, on December 31th. My case was received by USCIS on Nov 16th routed to Nebraska Service Center (LIN).
The USCIS office in Chicago is not accepting walk-ins neither taking appointments for infopass to get the passport stamped.
I am so relieved to get this NOA because was Green Card was already expired and was afraid to be asked by my employer for a proof employment authorization valid, so I decided to do an e-request a month later my case was received (thanks to this forum).
On December 26th got an email reply from USCIS about my inquiry;
The status of this service request is:
We have requested the notice be resent to the address listed in our systems. You should receive it within 10-14 business
So good luck to everyone on theirs case and don’t lose hope.
Hopefully things get better and all cases start moving faster.

You’re doing the right thing. Always follow up what your lawyer does and try to be proactive. Had I not been on top of my case I would’ve missed my K1 visa appointment cuz my lawyer dropped the ball.

ayuness got a reaction from Kiolas in I-751 OCTOBER 2018
Hello, I'm in the process of removing condition on residence to get my 10-year green card. My green card will expire in the middle of January and I have submitted my form I-751 since the end of October and got the confirmation that USCIS received our case in the beginning of November but I still haven't gotten the receipt. I read that it approximately takes 3-5 weeks to get the receipt. It's already been 8 weeks now and I'm getting nervous. Does anyone also experience the same thing? I filed at Texas Service Center.

I finally called USCIS, shockingly I didn't have to wait for too long, and the lady gave me my receipt number, I'm very relieved, thank you for those of you who responded.

Search for a uscis service center near you create an infopass appointment on that date you can go to the service center and have your stamp assuming you don't have your NOA1 yet before your appointment for infopass.
Edit: You can have a stamp 30 days prior to your gc's expiration or even if your gc's expired.

ayuness reacted to zilchfox in Terminated from my first job after few days
By law you must be paid for every minute worked. If it was a temp job, they probably decided they no longer need you, and there's nothing stopping an employer from doing that especially during probation — I've fired many people myself during probation (usually because they weren't up to our standards in speed, accuracy, etc.).

ayuness reacted to humamandrifa in Tourist Visa while I-130 for Spousal petition is pending?
Actually i was thinking the same way, im going to visit Indonesia (i was born there anyways but i never renewed my Indonesian passport because i dont know how US reacts to having multiple passports since I have a US one already) just to be safe. Due to my work its a bit hard for me to visit back but i would love to. but yeah to be on the safe side thanks for updating me. i guess il stick with waiting since its worth it while actually going to visit. Tickets too are cheaper sometimes LOL

USPS might be a govt job that is sometimes hard to even get an interview but u might have a high chance after passing their exam. Good luck to you!
staffing agency is worth it ONLY get ur foot on the door for any company! I used a staffing agency to get into DIRECTV now AT&T and it was helpful. You might get lucky once in a while and keep your options open for anything and work for that company uve always wanted! just my own experience, just know that if its your first week/month be as perfect as u can to impress your workers/managers so ur almost guaranteed to never get fired...also it depends on what staffing agency ur expertise is at. but starting off low and go high is the only best thing u can do.(unless ur lucky enough with connections lol)
For reference, u can use ur friends or family no need for jobs because u dont know what the manager might say about u if u apply to another job (unless u get along quite well with the managers ahaha) Good luck and its good to share these kind of experience espeially in the US

ayuness reacted to geowrian in Tourist Visa while I-130 for Spousal petition is pending?
Good points. I agree the likelihood of approval isn't great, but it's worth a shot IMHO. The only thing to lose is the visa fee, and getting familiar with the interview process is good on the nerves. haha
And such a great visit it is!

ayuness got a reaction from geowrian in Tourist Visa while I-130 for Spousal petition is pending?
You can apply for the tourist visa but you would likely be wasting money because it will most likely not be approved considering your wife intends to live here. But if you're going to file anyway, your wife should prove on the interview that she is coming back. It won't hurt your overall process though. I have never applied for tourist visa while my CR1 was being processed, my husband visited me in Indonesia, it's much easier and cheaper.

Not sure if i read other topics around but in my own experience regardless they will need to pay you even if you work for ONE hour from ANY job in the US. For the first three months any job is probation and called "at will" which means fired for any or NO reason at all, if you are a contractor like me, they can fire you at anytime and anyday regardless how long you are there. I did get fired once on a job i didnt get trained well enough on my first real job but after that I changed career paths and happy where I am now. So i think it maybe the training they didnt give well enough or it could be they just dont need you anymore. Sometimes using a staffing agency like me would be easier to find a job because they hook you up very quick versus direct job that takes longer, but it really depends. What did you use and did you get another job yourself? All the best for you and good luck in your future endeavors! cheers!

ayuness reacted to agripa in I-130 Evidence of Bonafide Marriage
Is it absolutely necessary? Of course not! You provided a single document establishing an ongoing marital relationship. You have technically satisfied the requirements.
The problem is what ultimately constitutes sufficient evidence of a bonafide marriage ultimately comes down to the officer who will adjudicate your application. They may feel that this single document is not sufficient. The reason why people provide a LARGE amount of VARYING evidence is to essentially cover our bases. An officer may not believe a single piece of evidence, but if you include a large amount of different types of evidence, the chance he sends an RFE goes down dramatically. Everyone wants to avoid an RFE (as it can potentially add MONTHS of extra time wasted), so most people try to include as much evidence as possible (including stuff you wrote in red).
The other problem you face is that you will interviewing at the Lebanon embassy. Most embassies/consulates in the Middle East and North Africa are hard! The consular officers in these locations are used to many people trying to game or cheat the system. Typically these officers have MADE up their mind on whether to approve/deny your application BEFORE they even talk to your spouse. Thus, the only chance you have to make an impression on them is to add AS much evidence as you can in your initial application (what people on this website call "front-loading" your petition).
In any case, there's nothing you can do now. Trying to send in additional evidence before they look at your application is a total waste of time. There's zero chance any more documents you send in now will be added to your application. You'll just need to wait and see if they ask for additional evidence.

ayuness reacted to Lights in Terminated from my first job after few days
Hi there,
So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I haven't been on the forum for a few weeks!
Keep in mind that recruitment agencies may tell you that contracts could extend longer than they even think it would. It's their tactic to get commitment on your end... it's much easier for them when workers are flexible to their clients needs, so sometimes they may position it in a way that shows promise, but really they don't have any real duty to follow through.
I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. Our dog is a family member to us so I can only imagine.
It takes time, but I assure you that you will get your groove and routine. I know it sounds cliche but you need to want to have that routine... it's going to be more on you to get out there than for others to pull you in. But once you start getting out there and building your new normal, it's amazing how quickly things start to fall into place.
Of course, I don't mind. I started my career back in early 2000's in ad tech/digital advertising. I spent the majority of my career in Canada working at agencies and was one of the first "women in mobile" (i.e. mobile apps/mobile websites/mobile e-commerce). When I moved to the US (California), I did the same type of work. It didn't make much of a difference to me because I use to travel from Vancouver to LA/SFO regularly. When I lived in Canada, it was tough to go out on my own for some reason. When I moved to the US and started working here, something in me switched and I just decided to go out on my own. As a Canadian, I decided on an LLC. I registered my business and off I went. I figured, if I could move countries indefinitely and essentially "start from scratch", then I might as well go all out... because I really don't agree with the US paternity/maternity situation and lack of balance and wanted to build that myself versus expect something that will likely not be given to me.
I read some stats a few months ago that 60% of US businesses are owned by immigrants. 40.2% of 2016 Fortune 500 firms are founded by immigrants and nearly 6 million workers are employed at immigrant-owned businesses. As an immigrant, you have just as much of an opportunity here. Let these adversities inspire you to do something else. Keep going!

ayuness reacted to AlinaB in Terminated from my first job after few days
Trust me, my husband cannot write as well as you can and his English is quite good. I am sure your English is much better than you think. And working as a cashier - it will only improve! You get to speak with people who have all sorts of accents. My husband had to accept a job that was far removed from his Bachelors degree and not what he wanted either. But sadly, when potential employers could not contact his previous bosses, it made it difficult for him to get a job. He has been at his current job for 6 months now and his boss knows that if there is no option to move up in the company or make it full time, he will find a new job. And this next search will be easier on him with prior American work history. Just as it will be with you after Lowes or USPS.
If you ever need support, please reach out to me. I watched my husband's progress this last year and I can empathize how you must be feeling.

Maaf Ayu. =(
My husband is Indonesian. Feel free to pm me if you need more people to talk to. He had a difficult time his first few months, but things are looking up now. I really do understand how you must be feeling. Learning how to navigate the American workforce can be tricky. But your English is great, you will find something else.
