hey, what is the resident date on your card? i just noticed your signature and it says your ROC is May 2019. if you got your GC in Mar 2018, your ROC won't be until end of 2019 at the earliest.

oh yeah you're right! the interviewer told us we can file for RoF after 2 years of marriage. i guess i have to clarify that... changing my signature!

    Update on My Status:

On March 22nd we had our AOS interview at Washington DC Field office. Our interview was scheduled for 8:15am we reached the office in Fairfax, VA 30 mins early. There was snow and officers were late. After checking in waited for almost 2hrs before our name was called. When a officer called my name, husband was in bathroom so I took the baby and bags with me and apologized to officer for delay and having to bring our 4 month old with us as we didn't have baby sitter. He was very friendly and understood our situation. Once my hubby is back from the restroom VO walked us to his cabin. Asked for our passports and asked me immigration yes/no questions. While looking into the file in front of him he asked us

VO: how did you guys meet?

    H: Online on Tinder

VO: I met many couples recently who said they met on Tinder.

VO: What things do you both have in common?

    H: Traveling, Hiking, Movies

Me: we both are electrical engineers

VO: How did you celebrate your wedding?

H: We had court wedding here and a 5 day traditional wedding in India.

Me: After Indian Wedding my in laws gave a reception here for the family who couldn't come to India.

VO: I heard Indian weddings are vibrant.

Me: Yes we had a blast. There were 1300 people at the wedding.

VO: Your baby is very pretty. Do you have her birth certificate?

Me: Gave him original and took a copy of it and gave the original back to me.

VO: Good luck guys that's all I need. You will let the approval in mail in next couple of weeks.

Me: You don't want to look at our pictures? Documents? Nothing? I spent so much time in gathering everything.

VO: No don't need any. I see your baby that's enough for me.

    Me: Ok

Me: I got a new job in IL and we are moving in 2 weeks. what happens if we move before my GC comes in?

VO: I am not sure. you probably can do the mail forward to your new address. Or change the address at USCIS website.

VO: Let me see what I can do. All the best guys drive back safe.

    H,Me: Thank you!

On March 26th We received approval letter in mail. On March 30th I got my green card in mail.

I am glad its done for now. I was able to go through all this with out a lawyer only because of everyone in this group friends. Good luck to everyone who are waiting for there interview.

We bought a house in IL and I started my new job on 26th. I can't thank Lord enough for his blessings.

    Congrats! ^^

Which field office are you in? It can be longer depending on which field office handles your case.

  4. Hey guys,

So my interview date is fast approaching (March 22) and a lot of other people's interview dates are also on that day. I just want to make sure that the supporting evidence we have are enough for us to not get denied or whatever.

So far we have the following:

     - Joint bank account info

     - Tax Return with both of our names

     - Lease contract for the apartment

     - Renter's insurance with both our names on it

I also don't have a state ID/driver's license yet. I just got so focused on looking for a job that I didn't bother going to the DMV (I don't have a car yet anyway).

Thanks a lot in advance for the responses!

It’s been 256 days for me...I already opened a service request but nothing at all, I just don’t understand why it’s taking so longo for them to send the documents to the local office. I’m in West Palm Beach.

congratulation to everyone who already had this part of the journey over! 😊

Yeah. It can take a while. It depends from state to state. Chances are your local office already have your papers and they just have a ginormous backlog.

    Hello everyone,

I've been waiting for 196 days for I-485 (Last update: Response to USCIS' Request for evidence was received) and 235 days for I-130 (Last update: case was received).

My PD is June 30, 2017 (NBC). I noticed most June or even July filers had their NOA2 already. I got my EAD/AP in September 2017 (Requested expedite service). Is it a normal time frame for an approval? Which one to get approve first? I-485 or I-130?

What will happen if I apply for graduate school while AOS is in progress? Will I get student visa during this period? Would I be qualified for in-state tuition?

Is it better to wait for the green card?

Any thoughts comments, suggestions would be appreciated ! Thanks

Do you mean I-131? They won't touch that because your I-765 EAD/AP Card Combo means you got approved for I-131 Advanced Parole as well.

As for the I-485, it's different depending on which local office is responsible for processing it. Other people wait for more than a year to close than 2 years. So it's all about patience from here on.

  7. Hello everyone!

February 14, 2018 - USCIS sent us a notification through email that our interview has been scheduled and that they sent us a letter with instructions!

February 16, 2018 - we received the letter from USCIS and our interview is going to be on March 22, 2018 on Fairfax, VA (weird bc we're closer to DC but I guess it's state jurisdiction). It took 230+ days from NOA1 to interview notification. Just needed to be patient I guess.

Anyone else here from VA? I hope everyone else is doing good in life!

  8. Hello everyone!

Checked my status again for EAD and it has changed to "Card Has Been Mailed to Me" earlier tonight! I guess I'll be receiving it earlier this week!

Congratulations to @LaughingBuddha for getting approved for the green card! :D

Also to those who are in the DC and VA area, it takes a longer time for us to get the interview. A friend of ours took 7 months from AoS filing to green card interview. We just have to be patient! As long as we have our EAD/AP we're good :P

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE WHO HAVE PROGRESS THIS WEEK! we're getting there! :D

  9. I'm just wondering why a lot of June filers for AOS have already gotten their EAD notices (some even got their card on the mail) and the EAD Processing Time on the visajourney page is still on May 29, 2017. Is there any way this can get fixed?

also, to everyone still waiting for their work permit, try calling them after 90 days so they can start a service request and do something about it. That's what I did last week and my card is being produced today.

    Thanks everyone

    Bobby
