  1. Sounds like a typical scam perpetuated by your countrymen. The department of state does not charge a fee for entering the embassy for your interview.
  2. Another incorrect assumption. strongly recommend you do some real research! All these wild assumptions could lead to disappointment at best, and delays and financial losses at worst.
  3. No one is upset. We have all had to wait, even pre-Covid. It’s just part of the deal with immigration.
  4. Can’t ‘afford’ to wait that long? You have no choice. You could move there in the interim maybe? US immigration is not fast, cheap or easy.
  5. That wouldn’t be any quicker. It will take two years no matter which route you choose.
  6. Wow. Wonder why any Canadian would ever bother with consular processing and long wait times for interviews, plus the recent spate of DS-5535s inexplicably handed out in Montreal. With the job market the way it is, seems this would be a surefire, nearly immediate way to be legally admitted, with a path to a green card. Regardless of whether there is a significant other waiting in the US.
  7. And if he is inside the US when it is approved? His whole premise was to adjust status from inside the US to avoid having to apply for a visa.
  8. Luckily, getting a B as a Russian currently is harder than ever, plus since he need not be present in the US to be divorced in the US, there is no legitimate 'emergency.'
  9. To be fair, the OP did not explain the situation using correct terminology. And I stand by what I said: that visas are not issued within the US, and that he would need to apply for a visa at a consulate after an approved I-129.
  10. That's not how that works, as I pointed out. You will need to interview for a visa at the consulate.
  11. Honestly, I’ve never heard of an American woman going to Pakistan for a vacation……and then to meet a guy nearly 40 years younger the very same day….?! Amazing. OP, what would happen if a GC was not part of the deal here? Would he want to settle with you for a lifetime of marital bliss, in Pakistan? What happens when he/his family wants children? Would you adopt at your age? I don’t mean to be intrusive here, but these are the very questions entertained by consular officers while conducting their evaluation of fraud risk, as required by law. Such enormous age differences do not occur via low fraud consulates, so it does make one think…
  12. If you are thinking of overstaying your B visa, that is a very bad idea...
  13. Do you have additional evidence that was not submitted initially? Did USCIS make an error? If neither applies, you refile. If you need help strengthening your application, you may want to enlist paid help.
  14. I129 is a petition. It is not for adjusting status. Visas are not ever given within the US. Visas are adjudicated only at overseas US consulates and embassies. There are no US consulates or embassies within the US.
  15. But......adjusting status IS immigrating..... And, you cannot get a visa from within the United States. That's not how that works.
  16. I have never heard of anyone adjusting from a tourist visa to an O visa. You may need to return home and be petitioned properly.
  17. Could sound like you're visa shopping. What makes you think you're eligible for an O visa?
  18. Strongly suggest you do some reading and researching, including reading the guides here on VJ. You need more than a basic understanding of how US immigration works in order to succeed.
  19. CR-1 visa leads to a conditional green card, and is given when the marriage is <2 years old. IR-1 is a 10 year green card, and is given when the marriage is >2 years.
  20. Length of time for K-1 petition approval is not country-dependent. The wait for a green card, and the inability to travel or work after arrival are a big deal to most people. Exactly.
  21. Did you know that you can check processing times at USCIS.gov? And that it is showing the Potomac processing time as 12 months currently?
