  1. hello everyone!

my husband entered the US on an IR-1 visa in 2019 from Morocco. we are confused on whether or not he needs to file form i-751.

when I did a quick Google search, it said it’s for conditional 2 year visa holders. but, I see a lot of people on here who also have IR-1 visas that are filing this form.

please send advice and thanks so much in advance.

Your husband was clearly granted a non-conditional greencard (not visa) so he will never have to remove conditions. His is already non-conditional.

Are you saying that he was supposed to have received a conditional? Sometimes USCIS makes mistakes.

i don't know if it's because i am fasting or what but my head was completely in the clouds for a moment. i wanted to look to see what was the next step for my husband to become a citizen... i looked at our timeline and it said form I-751 so I just jumped on it's boat. THANK YOU and I'm deleted my question so no one else starts telling me!! haha

it won't let me delete it, everyone just ignore 😄

  3. I was reading the instructions (skimming through while at work) for the form I-751, the Petition to Remove Conditions. The instructions say:

    Quote

Filing jointly. If you are filing this petition jointly with your spouse, you must file it during the 90-day period immediately before your conditional residence expires.

My husband's visa expires in 2029. Does this mean he can't apply to remove conditions until 2029? Can someone please provide me with info/advice?

    As was mentioned.

yes. I've read this several times. what would signal a red flag for a guy who never travels, spends his days filming and skateboarding? i guess probably his religion, region, and name. he is from casablanca, morocco. they had terrorist bombings like in 2003 and 2 young ladies were murdered in the mountains in morocco more recently.

moroccans have been getting the ds5535 like c r a z y. i don't necessarily disagree with the form being used. i just feel that our case is simple and I'm hoping it will be quickly processed.

    You think it is simple.

    we are the same age.

never married before, neither have kids.

we never traveled to other countries, except for me going to morocco to see him 9x.

we have been married for 2 years.

my husband does film making and i work in a medical facility.

we met in a group on Facebook called worldwide hippies.

everytime I've visited, i have stayed at his parent's home.

we talk almost 24/7 and video chat most of that time. we sent several screenshots of video calls lasting 18+ hours over the years.

    we have the same religion.

i make double the necessary amount to sponsor him alone.

we never had an rfe. never had a checklist.

    we frontloaded our petition.

he took a binder very neatly arranged with everything needed and more to his interview.

i really can't see how it's not simple.

but my husband's name is Mohammed.

many people think this is why he got the form.

Oh, great.  We are good at filling out forms.  That one looks fairly simple as she hasn't traveled too much.  I'm guessing that slows things down a few months though?

I guess it all depends on the country & case. You'd think it would be much simpler since she hasn't traveled much. Unfortunately, the country my husband is from tends to take anywhere from 3-20 months to process the DS-5535 form. 😕  It appears that it usually ends in a visa approval. Good luck to you both! I don't think Venezuela will have much of a wait time!

Oh come on! Someone had to have experienced something similar. I just wanna know if it's gonna take a long time for them to review the documents again😭😭😭😭

are you in the Facebook group Moroccan Visa Journey? there are usually very helpful people in that group! people are ALWAYS on facebook, even when they aren't on here. so I guess that's probably why I normally get quicker responses on there!
